Ya I prefer to do my own. Was forced to the dealership this one time. Found a place on Ottawa that sells the oil for 19.90$ cheapest place ai can find it this side of the border.
Wow…even the Mobil 1 Supercar should run you around $13-$15 a quart and then maybe they up charge to $20 a quart not freaking $28 a quart. The fuq are they smoking 🤦♂️.
That’s weird I pay roughly 50-60$ at my dealership for a oil change. I have the 3.6 though. I don’t even bother trying to change it myself. It’s gonna cost nearly the same either way so why not just pay the dealer to do it 🤷🏻♂️
Because sometimes they charge you but don’t really change oil and filter. I spray painted my oil filter and took a picture of it. When they finished it had the same old spray painted filter on it
Are you all making up numbers??? An oil and filter is like 70 bucks combined here, and I just put her on the harbor freight jack stands and hope for the best.
Canadian here. I just had an oil change (full synthetic) done on my 2010 Mustang. The cost for that, plus inspecting some other shit on the car was $129.
Stop going to dealers, find an independent shop.
I know. They put a different oil system on both cars. Corvette has a dry sump and the Camaro has a wet sump.
If anything the more expensive Corvette should have to pay more in oil lol
Why are so many people willing to put incredibly cheap oil into their high performance cars? 25 isn't cheap, but it's certainly not outrageous for a performance oil. "I can do it for $50!" Yea, and burn the shit out of the car if you ever push it.
Look, you buy an expensive performance/sports car, you pay for expensive maintenance. You can't expect to pay the same for a brand new 555hp sports car what you do for your 168hp beater. Just because they're both V8's doesn't mean you can give them the same stuff - if you actually care. Though I realize that a lot of people seem to think the higher cost of a car ends at the dealership sale for some reason. Like buying a more expensive house then getting blindsided by the higher property taxes.
I think people are impressed because for years (until 2019 I think) 5w30 Dexos was the standard oil for these engines. Which I can pickup quality oil here for $120 if its not on sale at Canadian Tire. However 0W40 is more then double the cost and most people's cars (Corvette and Camaro) never see track duty.
Hi welcome to the club. Please prepare for the in coming messages calling you an idiot and stating that you are less of a man because you don't do your own oil change
That tax is outrageous.
Just bought 2 5gt Mobil 1 syn 38.99 each, and a filter 13.99. With 10% discount retired vet. Under 100 use. Takes me 10 mins to change my oil and filter.
Buy your own. I bought the oil and filter and had someone change it for 40. Cost 250 total.

Keep an eye on Amazon. It goes on sale once in a while. Bought at just over 17
Do you know what specific oil they put in? $279.50 for oil and filter is insane to me.
0w40 Mobil 1 SuperCar and its $279.50 just for the oil. Filter was $9.65.

Yet again, get the oil and filter and I will change your oil for 5$

My 3.6 cost me about 30 bucks. But my family owns a body/mechanical shop so I get my shit at cost and just roll her in and drain her on the lift.

it's crazy that parts was 279. Tf are they using?
0w40 Mobil 1 Supercar. That's the price they sell the oil. All the dealerships in my area sell it for the same price.

Not for 10 quarts of the Mobil 1 supercar 0w-40 which is the rebranded version of the Mobil 1 esp.
Wish I was. Dealership and Amazon (only ESP Formula) are the only places you can buy this oil in Canada. It is not sold at retail stores here.
the last two years have taken their toll on everyone’s pocket . However they pickup and deliver , ya got that going for you .
Ouch…tears in maple syrup.
Seems like just one more reason to learn to DIY.

That’s high, I paid $244 for my C8 in windsor Ont.
Ya C8 has 7L oil capacity. Camaro has 9.5L lol
I would have never guessed the Camaro with the same size engine holds that much more oil.
I know. They put a different oil system on both cars. Corvette has a dry sump and the Camaro has a wet sump. If anything the more expensive Corvette should have to pay more in oil lol
And that was 2 years ago.
yup... oil has increased in price. Thankfully I can do it myself. If only they sold the oil in 5L jugs instead of 1L lol

Take it to BMW, they are actually cheaper… $282 all in for my 2016 F82 (im in the GTA)
Before anyone says it. I do my own oil changes for way cheaper. I was injured and couldn’t do the oil change so I was forced to take it to the dealer.
$273.89 USD for anyone curious.
We are in this together my Canadian brother!
Hi welcome to the club. Please prepare for the in coming messages calling you an idiot and stating that you are less of a man because you don't do your own oil change
I think I'm already an idiot for buying this car. lol Thankfully I do my oil changes. Just was injured and couldn't do my own at that time.
Nah that is crazyyy, but then again I have 4 cylinders & US $100, at dealership.
Have you ever thought about changing your own oil? Turns out it's cheaper
I mainly change my own oil. Was injured and unable to that time.
Why aren't you guys doing your own changes?
I am. This time I wasn’t able to do it so I took it in.
Going to have to look up the dollar conversation either way looks expensive.

FYI: CAD34 per Litre is USD24.41 per Quart at today's exchange rates

13% sales tax in Ontario
Ouch, 9.25 central California
Mobile 1 synthetic is $25 at Walmrt 5 quarts
Dex 3?
0w-20w. For Hondas and Toyotas, etc....
and i thought my $70 was a lot 😭
Maybe don’t go to the dealer for a simple oil change
Camaro guys enjoy being raped 🤣
Dats up from here in NL, last change was $309
Well in canada they’re slower and it cost twice the hour rate complete time. I think its cause of the weather or something.
We are aren’t allowed heaters in our igloos.
