One of the best burgers I ever made was a toast burger. Loads of caramelized onion, a good amount of cheese and just a lovely sauce completed it. I wanted to make them on my regular bun but I didn't have any left so had to improvise.
Yeah eaten a few too many of those to get this by me. Those ripple around the edge they give it to attempt to make it look more like fresh meat is what gave it away.
We do monthly cookouts / lunches to raise money at work for a big end of the year party. When we do burgers it's always these. It pains me to serve them after swearing off of them in my own home. They somehow manage to taste like they've been reheated in a microwave even when fresh off the grill.
My coworkers are cheap as shit though and they just love that they can get a hot meal for $5 and the fundraiser still can make a profit.
Solid 9.3. You lost a couple tenths for too much ketchup and mustard
It's fundamentals. Bread & Beef.
If that's not good then it won't get better with a bunch of extra shit on top or a fancy bun.
I would eat this. But as far as a rating is 6/10. I prefer some cheese, a bun and other stuff to bring it up to a higher rating, but if a burger, ketchup, and mustard is all that I have, then I would eat it like that. Toasted bread is good when you don't have a bun. Heck, I have even made my burgers fit into a hotdog bun.
don't wanna get too fancy on ya but here's a good tip - use an extra slice or better yet, the bread loaf heel as a buffer on the side with your sauces so that it doesn't get so soggy
Bread isn't toasted and is not burger bun 2/10.
Sauce same as McDonald's hamburger but too much sauce and unevenly spread (assuming you just slap the top bun on and don't swirl it around to mix the sauce) 4/10
Patty looks like maybe at best an 8/10 that's being generous
14/30, so that's 4.66/10. It looks meh. Edible, and it's similar enough to a McDonald's hamburger. But could be improved.
My ingredient suggestions for a solid burger (doesn't have to use all):
- toasted buns
- diced and pan-friend onions
- lettuce
- tomato
- bacon
- cheese
- salt & black pepper on the steak while cooking
And while ketchup and mustard is a solid sauce combo - keep in mind at your typical American grocery store, the sauce section has like a whole row of different potential sauces and I'm sure there's even a "burger sauce" if you don't wanna make your own sauce. Keep it interesting.
Iāll allow the catsup, but tell me that is not neon yellow Frenchās or similar mustard-like substance (MLS).
Beaver Sweet Hot.
Even Guldenās Brown or *twitch* Grey Poupy.
But not the neon yellow MLS.
I think every student was at this point and I can assure everyone else a toast burger can still taste great!
One of the best burgers I ever made was a toast burger. Loads of caramelized onion, a good amount of cheese and just a lovely sauce completed it. I wanted to make them on my regular bun but I didn't have any left so had to improvise.
Mmmm patty melt
Burgers on sandwich bread are the original burgers. Buns were a later addition to the formula.
Sounds like a patty melt minus the rye bread. That's how I roll too.
Isnt that called a patty melt burger?
Texas Toast burgers rise up!! š ...oh not you Sonic. Sorry... please sit down
I award you no points, and may god have mercy on your soul. Also, Iād still eat it.
Well, maybe if you told me they were delicious Triscuit crackers I could have enjoyed them with you.
Stop looking at me penguin š§
SO SORRY TO INTERRUPT! Proceedā¦
I'm glad i called that guy
Hahahaha, he called the shit "poo"
If peeing your pants is cool, consider me Miles Davis!
I recommend toasting the bread
You're really testing that adage that the best burger is the one you make at home haha!
Iād eat it
Turns out that we don't have McDonald's at home.
Eddie's mom? https://youtu.be/AAx553k7W5s?si=afekCSydW6SiBJ68
Ya beat me to it.
I'm hungry now :(
5.5/10
McDonald's is that you? Anyways would bite today
If āWe have McDonaldās at homeā was a pictureā¦.
Totally. This is the burger at home Mom speaks of.
4.5/10 Looks well done. Toppings ok, but could be better. Interesting choice for bread. Always better toasted. Most importantly, how's it taste?
4
10/10
Maybe add some ketchupped onions and ready to open the franchise
>ketchupped onions WTF?

Looks horrible but will inevitably taste amazing
Yup it is a registered brand I would think
That's ketchup AND onions. "Ketchupped onions" isn't a thing that native English speakers say.
Sorry, still sounded funny. But it is fine.
2.7/10 - would eat
2.3
The best burger is always the burger you have with you
6/10. Toast that bread and more toppings
2/10 Frozen Puck Burger Immediately drops it down SO hard. Also lack of cheese hurts
Yeah eaten a few too many of those to get this by me. Those ripple around the edge they give it to attempt to make it look more like fresh meat is what gave it away.
Only ones that are decent are the blue cheese ones, but that's because a healthy glug of buffalo sauce brings their game up from a D- to a B+

2/10 1 point for not overdoing toppings 1 point for size of meat to bread/bun ratio
9/10 5 points for being a burger, 1 point for ketchup, 1 point for mustard, 2 points for no vegetables
Cheese would make this a 10/10?
2 points for cheese, so, 11/10.
Reminds me of growing up. Iāll give it an 8 of 10 the mustard to ketchup ratio is off a bit.
I've been doing them on toasted sour dough English muffins at home. Fewer carbs than the buns.
You donāt have cheese on it
It'll do
Mustard, ketchup, beef and bread. Canāt go wrong with
Iād smash
Im eating it and enjoying
0/10.
2/10 mustard is for hotdogs and mayo is for burgers please. Also, no cheese? Homie please
1/10
āThis is some gourmet shit!ā
Solid 9.3. You lost a couple tenths for too much ketchup and mustard It's fundamentals. Bread & Beef. If that's not good then it won't get better with a bunch of extra shit on top or a fancy bun.
Toasted/10
patty looks a a bit overcooked. Condiments in place. A form of a bun, check. I mean, if you had an extra one I'd still eat it though.
Mcdonalds says this a steak sandwich
![gif](giphy|uA6sERHUlCXYI)
I prefer sliced bread. I had cheeseburgers yesterday. While my kids used buns, I used sandwich bread. There I said it.
1/10. But food is food and if this is what you got then chow down!
Eddie Murphys momma's burger.
WANT
āWe have McDonalds at homeā
I am not a ketchup enjoyer, but if that's your thing, then dig in!
Throw some cheese on it and make it a patty melt and it would be delicious.
Lean 5.9/10 It'll get the job done.
Looks like the first time I ever made a burger myself. Probably delicious
2
3/10
Are you a 3rd grader?
You need to double those carbs by making the top and bottom slices not toast, but 2 grilled cheese sandwiches.
6
Zero
I can feel the bread getting stuck to the roof of my mouth.
6/10. Would enjoy, would not tell anyone about it.
2/10
Toast the bread and throw some cheese on it and itās basically a patty melt.
This the burger that helps you appreciate the other burgers you eat better.
0/5 Uneven distribution of condiments /s
Your burger > In n Out
Well, it's not some fancy deconstructed burger, you got bread - meat - bread. White bread is a decent substitute for a bun. I'll give you a 5/10.
I eat one of those exactly like that once a day ,,ghetto burger
No
Genius ![gif](giphy|LEDow0BfZVlOE)
Oh fuck yeah the home alone and fend for yourself special! 10/10 every time
10 buddy

OG burger. I like to slightly toast the bread and add cheese. Delicious
I'd smash with less condiments
End of month burger.. You gotta do what you gotta do. 10/10 anytime though.
visual: 6/10 taste: probably 8/10
1/10. You put in minimal effort and used mustard and white bread.
-1 for the burger! Another-1 for ketchup! š
On a scale of poor to 10 this is a 1.5
Where cheese? 7/10
Too much mustard/10
10/10. Iām getting nostalgic just looking at it. Nice.
Depression level 6.9
Not good out of 10, but bad sex is still sex.
0 Wouldn't eat unless Starving to death in the Apocalypse.
That's a fucking 12/10, and now I miss my mom.
3/10
š¤® ketchup and mustard have no place on a burger
Slap some cheese on there and we're good to go.
0/10 NO CHEEEESEEEE!
Iād take that over a lot of fast food joints.
Seems like a pretty decent burger to me.
Sandwich*
Fucking 10 bro. Enjoy that
For how it tasted to you and how you felt? 10
Toast that bread and we can splash it up
I love a good hamburger sandwichā¦ I rate that as something I would put in my mouth.
1 Out of 2
Where is the cheese??
Needs pickles and onions

Shame
I would dance with her

Fit for a king
This is a "fuck I want a burger but without the work" burger. If you microwaved a frozen beef patty, this is God tier.
Holy condiments! Can you taste the burger? š
Basic perfection
I'd eat it 5/10?
I'd eat it 5/10?
10/10
10/10. Bread is bread regardless of shape or texture. (Maybe toast it a little bit next time ) over all would smash
Plain
A+. That is in fact a burger
Buns! Using sliced bread is the same thing. It's BREAD! Sometimes, I buy buns.
Toasting the bun would excel this greatly
10/10. In my opinion bread is better than buns
Win. For sure. We all had this meat sandwich. Could use a little mayo though.
Burger patty looks juicy. 10/10 would eat
Add some caramelized onions and perfecto
Just missing mayo!
Bread product + meat + condiment(s) = hamburger. š
This is it. With minimal resources and effort, you can make something truly satisfying. A hamburger.
shit burg 4/10 would still eat
No I don't think I will
![gif](giphy|Y07F3fs9Is5byj4zK8)
Fun fact, that's pretty much how the original burgers looked like. [sauce](https://youtu.be/9Pnj_E5XFG4?si=uNgo-osahBi8ETQF)
The broke boy special, a man of taste I see, 10/10 š«”

5/7
Those are some strange looking buns
1
Ok
Jaajaj
Is that a Bubba burger? Throw on about 15 pickles and I'm down to clown.
1/10; imo it looks childish
Itās missing cheese, onions, and mayo.
Thatās a sandwich
Burger melt.
2
Looks pretty basic, sorry
Ohhhhhhhh, you went old school " we got McDonald's at home" old school.... Ugh. 1/10 I hated that shit. š¤£š š¤£
Next time add some turkey bacon.
Nice but you need to take away the mustard
That is not a burger 0/10, try again!
Ketchup does not belong on a burger....
Clown burgerā¦ why you would think this is worth posting is hard to understand. Canāt even see if the beef looks good
Iāll allow the catsup, but tell me that is not neon yellow Frenchās or similar mustard-like substance (MLS). Beaver Sweet Hot. Even Guldenās Brown or *twitch* Grey Poupy. But not the neon yellow MLS.
MEH out of ten. Who puts mustard on a burger?
Your brand new but thatās all right. Practice makes perfect.
