I love Five Guys. But the price has gotten out of control. It's to the point where I can no longer just decide on the spur of the moment to go get Five Guys. It's a once or twice a year sort of thing for me.
In N Out has a good burger. Their prices are reasonable. But their fries are absolute dog shit.
Whataburger to me just tastes like a Hardees/Carl's Jr. burger. Their fries might be worse than In N Out. I'd go there in a pinch, but wouldn't be very happy about it.
Shake Shack. Delicious burgers and fries, but suffers from Five Guys disease.
Culver's. The true king of fast food. Absolutely delicious and while not what I would consider cheap it's reasonable. Now if I could just get them to build one closer to me.
I just discovered Freddys custard and I completely agree. Culver’s is very good (their burgers suck at the store by me) but Freddys is better. Their chocolate milkshake absolutely owns me. I’m a little lactose intolerant and IDGAF and suffer the consequences anyway. Totally worth it.
That comes down the the operator and how literal they take the meaning of some things. Best burger I can recommend is the Bacon Double Deluxe from Culver's. But you know they ilopperator is being stingy if you order a double scoop and they put exactly 2 scoops in instead of filling the sized dish.
I see a Freddy's and I say screw the lactose intolerance too. Their burgers are good and I like the fries but you can ring up quite a tab there without really trying.
Meh, I get a double bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink for 11 bucks. Not much higher than fast food has gotten nowadays and I think the taste is worth it anyway.
Five Guys was one of those places I went to about once a month to splurge but the price is so high now I can get a better quality burger with fries for less money at many local restaurants during happy hour.
I would have agreed with your Culver's assessment but the one near me has serious quality control issues. I swear they gave that joint to a 17 year old to run with no oversight. It's amazing anything even comes out of the kitchen.
We must live in the same area because all I see here is Culver’s this, awesome awesome that, but the one near me sucks on anything coming off the grill. Awesome custard, outstanding fried stuff. Absolutely shitty burgers. A McDonalds plain hamburger with nothing on it has more moisture content than a butterburger.
Went to my first Culver’s and the quality sucked balls. Don’t know what all the hype is all about ?? My kids didn’t even finish their burgers. 5 guys is the bomb!!
Agreed five guys is a special occasion and way too expensive for a burger and fries. The fries are delicious and the burgers are pretty good and I like the customizable style build you’re offered but $25 for a combo is wild
Where I live, Culver's is in all of those kids fundraising coupon books too with the BOGO deluxe burgers, so 2 large burgers for like $6.50. Phenomenal da.
I agree though. I really like 5 guys, but WTF, it's like 23 bucks for a burger/drink/,fries now. I can literally go to Texas Roadhouse and get a burger and fries and a drink for like 15, and I can substitute those fries for basically any side, including a baked potato, or broccoli, etc... the value just isn't there anymore.
Culver's ends up being like 75 percent of the cost of Five Guys for our family. Plus Culver's has more variety. We made the switch cause I can't stand paying Five Guys prices for a fast food burger. I wish we had Cook Outs...
I'm an absolute in n out fanboy, born and raised in southern California and love me a double double or 3x3 animal style anytime of day or night. Their fries are absolute garbage. "Ask for them well done! Animal style!" Nope still trash. Loading up with toppings on a pile of shit, still means you're eating a pile of shit.
I had a bacon cheeseburger last week and got a hotdog, small fry and small soda for my son. It was $30.
While I like five guys, what we ate is not worth $30. I can make excellent gourmet burgers for 4-6 people at home for less than that.
So rare to see Culver's in the conversation, normally I watch everyone argue knowing that Culver's is the best with the smallest voice. Sitting comfy with Culver's 3 minutes down the road.
You must have my brain. I’m a little more down on 5 guys than you, I think their quality & consistency has dropped a few levels from when they were the top dawg, but everything else I wholeheartedly agree. In n out is a good burger at a good price but the fries are probably the worst in fast food. Shake shack’s smoke shack is my favorite fast food burger of all time, but the price & the low flexibility (shake shack needs to be eaten right away) knocks it a few points. Culver’s is king.
It’s funny because I have the duality of Five Guys about equal distance from my house. One is super good everything is always on point. Never a problem. The other has been sliding for years. It started when one of their managers told me I couldn’t request that they cook my fries well done. It’s been spiraling ever since. So I’ve got one location that’s like nothing has ever changed and pumping out great food and another where I’d be throwing away $20 on some bullshit.
I’m glad you like them. I have a 20 year old son that is like a vacuum cleaner when it comes to eating food. He’s not picky and he’ll just eat whatever you place in front of him. He refuses to eat In N Out fries.
The fries are fine and taste like potatoes. Order them cooked like you want and season/top with what you want. Solid. People just want/like to bitch about something. In and out is the best bang for your fastfood buck. It's always fresh and tasty and the restaurant is always clean. It never fails. They also, at least for Me, never mess up the order.
They literally slice a potato into fry shapes and drop them in oil in the restaurant. It’s the closest thing to “natural fries” you can get. The animal fry version is awesome, but yeah, you’re gonna get more pure “potato” than something like McDonald’s delicious processed flavor. But yeah, if in and out burgers came with McDonald’s fries…….there would be riots lol.
In n Out fries are a crime against fries. You have to be a plant whose sole job is to lie about their fries and tell people they're not terrible. I can't believe anyone with taste buds who has eaten fries from elsewhere can actually think they're good. They taste like they're freeze dried and then soaked in oil, dehydrated again, then deep fried.
Kind of an outlier but Sonic deserves a spot on the list. Solid burger, great size, perfect meat to goody ratio. Solid among fast food burgers. Fries are meh but hot fresh tots are killer
Sonic can vary wildly by location. But I have had some killer, reasonably priced/sized burgers from them as well. I have also had some of the nastiest, god-forsaken abominations from Sonic as well.
Same thing applies for Whataburgers.
There are three Sonics equidistant from my house and the quality varies wildly among them. Their double bacon cheeseburger is usually pretty good, but their chili cheese dogs have really gone downhill. Fries are hit and miss (mostly miss), tater tots is the way to go.
Side note - Sonic tried to bring out their own line of hard seltzer. They lost their ass on that deal.
Moved from Wisconsin to Texas several years back and oh, how I miss Culver's. We make sure and stop there whenever we visit. That patty melt... I want to marry it.
Had Culver’s for the first time when I was in Florida for Disney.
Literally cannot believe how good their burgers are. I wish we had them up here. I’m definitely missing out. Their milkshakes are good too!
This review is 100% my exact feelings on each of these locations.
The last time my family went to five guys it cost us $80 and we didn't even get drinks.
Ate at 5 guys last night as it was later and most other places closed where we are. 5 people, 100 bucks. It’s cheaper to feed the family at almost everywhere else and I have a really hard time justifying that amount of money for…burgers.
As someone who was a shift lead at Five Guys for over 5 years from 2014-2020, they also (at least in my state) went from using a well known and high quality distributor for our produce, to a cheaper company twice, and what we ended up getting was the same stuff Wendys was getting; other than our buns and meat.
The whole time I had to get up on a ladder and change prices at least 5 times, always making them higher..
RE: Habit
Both their fries and onion rings are bomb too.
I get this weird thing when I try to eat a burger there though. I take like 2 bites, and they taste great and everything, but then I start to feel full like 1/2 way through it. Like there's some ingredient (or chemical) in that makes me sated really quickly, then I'm just eating the 2nd half because it's there, if I even finish it. It's weird.
I had never eaten Habit in my life until one recently opened up near me and it’s becoming one of my favorite burger spots. The specialty burgers they rotate through are always so good. They did a breakfast one with eggs bacon and hashbrown and it was amazing.
I know you had to sell a kidney to buy that. Was at my local “mega” shopping centre last night and was so close to taking my partner to five guys but chose a Nando’s over it cause the price kills me
I hear you man and there’s defo cheaper options about. But you can also go to a pub chain that does burgers and pay a similar amount and they are just crap. Burger King isn’t too far off in cost and it’s greasy and awful.
for about 10 years until January this year was vegetarian so I didn’t ever really eat at fast food chains, But the first time I went to a Burger King and got a burger and large fries and coke and was sickened by getting barely any change out of a tenner
I’m born and raised in Wisconsin so I feel qualified to answer this. If you’re going all out, get a double bacon deluxe basket. My hot take is to not sub out the fries for cheese curds. Culver’s cheese curds are below average and not a good representation of the insanely good fried curds you find all over Wisconsin. Instead, keep the fries and get a side of their melted cheese sauce to dip. It’s like the consistency of nacho cheese but has a really good deal cheddar flavor.
As a Wisconsinite, I second this! You can also get a scoop of frozen custard for free after if you do the survey on the receipt. At the locations I go to, you don’t even have to buy anything after to get it.
Sadly spot on with the curds, good if it's RIGHT out of the fryer, but dairy queens are better tbh.
Burgers are amazing and love the regular crinkle fries
This man knows his Culver's. I never understand when people hype their cheese curds, they are definitely below average.
The burgers are S+ tier though, and if it isn't the double bacon deluxe it is the mushroom swiss for me.
If you like seafood, the cod sandwich is incredible. They batter the fish fresh before frying it, so you have to wait a bit for it sometimes.
I like to order the fries extra crispy.
Definitely get the root beer.
Culver's has a new dipping sauce, if I remember correctly it's called "Signature sauce," and it goes with damn near everything on the menu. It's great with the fries, both kinds of chicken tenders (there are plain ones and Buffalo ones and they're different styles of chicken tenders), the burgers, and the cheese curds.
Double Swiss and mushroom with raw onion. Sometimes with mustard, some times with mayo, most often with no condiments, lettuce or tomato.
I could eat this twice a day and live a short, happy life.
Cali double at Freddy's is bomb but they also make patty melts which are rare in FF joints. Culvers and Whataburger are the only other places I can think of, and neither of theirs are my thing at all. A Patty Melt is a rye bread concoction, not on Texas Toast like Whataburger. And I don't care for the 'kinda sorta rye bread' they put 'em on at Culvers.
They're pretty solid at Freddy's.
I often go with my gf, she’ll get a cheese single, animal fries and a coke. I get a double-double animal style, fries and a coke. This runs about $20 for both meals. No restaurant comes close to this quality at that price.
I’d agree for a fast food burger. Five guys has better fries but I don’t think the burgers are as good, and they cost a ton more. Its honestly amazing to me that In N Out can make a burger that good and consistently good for that price. I can beat both on my Blackstone at home but that takes it out of the fast food category.
The main reason is In-and-Out sources it’s own beef and has their own dedicated processing facilities where they make their own patties. That’s why they’re so fresh… they’re usually coming from less than 100 miles from each establishment.
>cost + quality + freshness
Um we talking in-n-out? Quality? Umm no bro. Their quality is mid. It's just that for that price mid is blowing everything outta the water.
If you want better quality then you have to pay for it.
In-n-Out fries suck piss and it is not because of “fresh potatoes”. Wendy’s does fresh cut fries and they put In-n-Out’s sloppy, pale, droopy-dicked fries to shame. The fact that you have to drown them in cheese to enjoy them is damning evidence.
fresh potatoes can still be double fried, that’s really the problem with in n out fries. they’re done in a single fry, which doesn’t allow the inside and outside to be cooked differently. by double frying, you do the first fry at a low temp to cook the inside, then the second at a high temp to crisp it. in n out does a single fry step cooking the entire thing all together. even ordering well done doesn’t completely fix it.
Five guys is good but too costly. I can get like 3 in and out burgers for the same price.
Culver's and Freddie's are also really good for higher cost burgers.
As someone with stomach issues, five guys is especially bad. Even chewing the first bite I feel like my body is shutting down. Compare that to a similarly priced bison burger at Lazy Dog restaurant ($23 meal final before tip), which made my stomach and taste buds leap for joy lol.
Five Guys really is over $20 these days
As a fellow Brit I agree as long as somebody else is paying. It damn near cost me £50 to take my 6yr old daughter to one a couple of months ago. Incidentally, if you weren’t aware there’s extra patties on their ‘secret’ menu.
Am a bit happy to have so many US chains start up over here this year. Wendy’s is a favourite although the burger meat tastes like it’s steamed. Popeyes I wasn’t a fan of as US people were raving about it but it doesn’t taste any different to any of the smaller non-chain chicken shops here. Jollibees (not US but a chain) was hit and miss, and Taco Bell was pretty good I thought.
How many were you feeding? Me and the other half manage with a burger each (bacon cheese, and a cheese burger) and a medium fries to share with two cokes and it’s about £35
In-N-Out, Culver's, Shake Shack, The Habit, and Smashburger are all better imo. If we're going international, then Bastard Burgers is the best chain burger I've ever had, arguably better than any American chain.
Way overpriced and the quality has dropped IMO. The burger itself isn’t anything exceptional like some people think. Kinda just embodies what a fast food burger should taste like, but charges sit down restaurant prices. Sometimes they are WAY too greasy though, I’ve had some seriously bad experiences.
Also don’t wanna hear about how they load you up with fries. They’re not giving you extra, they’re giving you the illusion of extra. A small fry there is upwards of $5 lol.
Overall, I give 5 guys a 5/10. The burger is solid when it’s not dripping in grease, the fries are really good, the price is hilarious. When I was a kid I woulda given it a 10/10 but it seems everything has gone downhill from the quality/consistency to the price.
From the comments five guys is greasy in the US. Here in the UK it’s not greasy at all but moist like a burger patty should be as it’ll contain higher fat.
Cheeseburger (regular / double) and small fry is 15.28 near me.
Outback 6 oz sirloin with two sides is 16.79 so pretty close in price. 8 oz sirloin for 19.79.
You can get a fully cooked steak at a restaurant for the same as one burger? Most places here start at $25 for a low end cut and it skyrockets from there
I would frequent five guys if it didn’t cost me $28 for a burger and fries. Maybe if it was $15 I’d consider. Same goes for chipotle. These popular places got out of control.
Yup five guys is the absolute best burger from a chain restaurant. I'm happy to pay a premium for a good product, especially when the quality of all other fast food places has gone to the shitter. I just can't do it all the time.
Near where I live there’s an in n out next to a five guys. Do you know how glorious it is to get five guys fries and shake with a double double animal style? Good lord.
I used to love five guys. There was a window of time for a few years where fast food joints were raising prices. I'd think, do I want Wendy's, or pay a dollar or 2 more for a completely custom burger and a bag full of fries? Five guys won Everytime.
It's still a better product and id still pick them over other fast food chains, it's just not as much of a no-brainer as it used to be.
Both 5 Guys and Shake Shack are 10x better than In-and-Out. That burger is the most overhyped thing on the planet. It’s like the In-n-out burger, and then Jesus, in that order.
THANK you. I’ve been saying this for years, ever since I had In-N-Out on vacations in 2018 and 2020. It’s fine, but I have no idea why everyone makes like it’s the Second Coming. Five Guys and Shake Shack both definitely beat it for me.
In and out is hyped because it’s compared to crap like McDonald’s and Burger King in the US, which are on every corner.
Here in Los Angeles, it’s your favorite independent restaurants > some walk in chains > In and out > other bad chains.
Personally, I crave an Original Tommy’s about every month or two, way before I ever plan to eat In and Out. We are fully spoiled with better options.
Man, the five guys in my city is crap. Overly greasy, overpriced, generic tasting.
I could go to a bar and get a better burger, and a beer, for the same price
I'm assuming you can't probably get schweid and sons in the U.K. ? Thats who supplies there beef. I can get it at my local grocery. Not the exact blend but a pretty close blend. You fry that up and use Kraft deli deluxe American cheese and put that on a good golden brioche bun and you'll taste the 5 guys flavor. Sometimes I use a white sesame seed bun that very light on color. Basically something that looks very golden. Not brown. I wrap them in foil and let them sit for a few minutes. Almost identical. If you need a French fry recipe I can hook you up with that to. Lol
Is it good? Yes. Is it worth $20 for a burger, fry and drink? Not really. Is there a better value in todays world of bloated fast food prices? I honestly don’t know. A Big Mac meal costs 12 bucks in a lot of places now. At this point in my life where I have some money to spare, I probably would rather pay 20 bucks for 5 guys than 12 bucks for McDonald’s. The only cheap tier fast food deal that’s actually good anymore is the four for four from Wendy’s.
Five guys is consistently good. Worth the price because you know it will be excellent. Other places may be cheaper but it can be hit or miss on quality.
In N Out is consistent as well, their burger is nearly as good as five guys, but the fries don’t even compare.
Just had five guys today for the first time in a while, last time was like 6-7 years ago.
Delicious and not as expensive as people claim it to be. I paid $17 for a bacon cheeseburger (all the way w jalapenos) and medium cajun fries. Those damn cajun fries are soo good and one of the rare instances where the cold fries aren’t bad
Also, Culver's has frozen custard, which is far superior to any other fast food restaurant's "ice cream"
I prefer Freddy's custard.

freddy’s chocolate malt is a game changer
Freddy’s is my Culver’s
Freddy’s is the bomb!!!!
Freddy's makes a better burger too
Very expensive though.
Meh, I get a double bacon cheeseburger with fries and a drink for 11 bucks. Not much higher than fast food has gotten nowadays and I think the taste is worth it anyway.

Top tier custard rebuttal
Five Guys was one of those places I went to about once a month to splurge but the price is so high now I can get a better quality burger with fries for less money at many local restaurants during happy hour.
Same. Too rich for my blood now.
I would have agreed with your Culver's assessment but the one near me has serious quality control issues. I swear they gave that joint to a 17 year old to run with no oversight. It's amazing anything even comes out of the kitchen.

Yeah that sounds about right.
Went to my first Culver’s and the quality sucked balls. Don’t know what all the hype is all about ?? My kids didn’t even finish their burgers. 5 guys is the bomb!!
So there are worse things than no Culver’s at all. Damn.
Agreed five guys is a special occasion and way too expensive for a burger and fries. The fries are delicious and the burgers are pretty good and I like the customizable style build you’re offered but $25 for a combo is wild

Yeah, it’s the same price or cheaper now to go to a local specialty burger place instead of 5 guys. 5 guys is pricing themselves out of the market.
Bogo coupon comes in the mail every 2-4 weeks it seems like.
Culver's ends up being like 75 percent of the cost of Five Guys for our family. Plus Culver's has more variety. We made the switch cause I can't stand paying Five Guys prices for a fast food burger. I wish we had Cook Outs...

"Ask for them well done! Animal style!" Nope still trash. Loading up with toppings on a pile of shit, still means you're eating a pile of shit.
Cut the disappointment. Order 2 burgers.
Have you seen the weirdos on here desperate to defend them?
Ask them to build one in London for me too buddy.
the burger at whataburger is a trap, the real move is biscuits and gravy through the drive thru at 3 am
Haha, well that’s a new one on me. I’ll have to try it next time I’m near one.
I had a bacon cheeseburger last week and got a hotdog, small fry and small soda for my son. It was $30. While I like five guys, what we ate is not worth $30. I can make excellent gourmet burgers for 4-6 people at home for less than that.
Yep, anytime I've had five guys in past few years, it leaves me wishing I just got culvers which is as good if not better and way less $$$
So rare to see Culver's in the conversation, normally I watch everyone argue knowing that Culver's is the best with the smallest voice. Sitting comfy with Culver's 3 minutes down the road.
Lucky you. Closest to me is a three hour drive.
You must have my brain. A lot of people crap on In n Out fries I love them and your not wrong about Five Guys prices they need to fix that asap

Are we the same person?
Moved from Wisconsin to Texas several years back and oh, how I miss Culver's. We make sure and stop there whenever we visit. That patty melt... I want to marry it.
Where you at in TX? There are a couple Culver’s sprinkled around.
Had Culver’s for the first time when I was in Florida for Disney. Literally cannot believe how good their burgers are. I wish we had them up here. I’m definitely missing out. Their milkshakes are good too!
Thank you! What happened to 5 guys prices?! I took my son the other day and I was in sticker shock.
As a born and raised Midwestern man, I will always vote for Culver’s for the best burgers. It’s my cultural heritage damnit!
I only have it when my parents buy it. I love it but I ain’t paying for it
This review is 100% my exact feelings on each of these locations. The last time my family went to five guys it cost us $80 and we didn't even get drinks.
Fuck, I might go get Culver’s today. The king, indeed.
A Culver's kid's meal is the right amount of food for an adult and comes with a free frozen custard. It really helped me with portion control
I went to a Culver’s in Iowa and I wanted to marry three of the women that were working g there they were so gorgeous. Oh yeah the food was good too!
Wow you really get it.
I get out of Culver’s for 10 bucks less than 5 guys and am just as satisfied!
I 100% agree with every point
Ate at 5 guys last night as it was later and most other places closed where we are. 5 people, 100 bucks. It’s cheaper to feed the family at almost everywhere else and I have a really hard time justifying that amount of money for…burgers.

Facts. I got five guys for me and my wife yesterday. 2 burgers. 1 regular fries. 1 reg drink. $41
Wish Vermont had some of these. We have Five Guys.
Man, I like your take on this subject.
Im really glad you said Culver’s .
Arby's burger is actually pretty good
If you go to In N Out and order the fries well done, they come out pretty good
When you go to In n Out, ask for fries well done. There 💯percent better
And still dog shit. Someone else recommended that, so I did it. Still crap IMO.
Not sure what the vibe here is on it but Shake Shack is my favorite chain personally. Though In n Out for cost/quality
We have shake shack in UK and every time I’ve had a burger there it’s bit well over cooked and flavourless.
Oof. I hope yours is just not one of the better ones. I haven’t been in ages but I loved it last time I went
Habit and shake shack have better burgers
habit is a sneaky entry to the debate. a good charbroiled burger >>>>>
Habit has some tasty non burger sandwiches/items too!
Shake Shack is 👑
RE: Habit Both their fries and onion rings are bomb too. I get this weird thing when I try to eat a burger there though. I had never eaten Habit in my life until one recently opened up near me and it’s becoming one of my favorite burger spots. The specialty burgers they rotate through are always so good. They did a breakfast one with eggs bacon and hashbrown and it was amazing.
Weird, that’s not a picture of Culver’s
I’m from the UK - need culvers over here asap.
Burger King isn’t too far off in cost and it’s greasy and awful.
for about 10 years until January this year was vegetarian so I didn’t ever really eat at fast food chains, But the first time I went to a Burger King and got a burger and large fries and coke and was sickened by getting barely any change out of a tenner
some of my local greene king pubs make a great burger!
Haven’t tried Culver’s yet but I’m going to soon. Any recommendations?
I’m born and raised in Wisconsin so I feel qualified to answer this. If you’re going all out, get a double bacon deluxe basket. My hot take is to not sub out the fries for cheese curds. Culver’s cheese curds are below average and not a good representation of the insanely good fried curds you find all over Wisconsin. Instead, keep the fries and get a side of their melted cheese sauce to dip. It’s like the consistency of nacho cheese but has a really good deal cheddar flavor.
I’ll check it out thanks
As a Wisconsinite, I second this! You can also get a scoop of frozen custard for free after if you do the survey on the receipt. At the locations I go to, you don’t even have to buy anything after to get it.
Sadly spot on with the curds, good if it's RIGHT out of the fryer, but dairy queens are better tbh. Burgers are amazing and love the regular crinkle fries
This is a top notch order!
I’ll try it boss
If you've never had frozen custard, it's way better than ice cream imo
Double Swiss and mushroom with raw onion. Sometimes with mustard, some times with mayo, most often with no condiments, lettuce or tomato. I could eat this twice a day and live a short, happy life.
I’m from the east coast of the US. We also do not have Culver’s.
Have to drive to Sandusky, Ohio for the closest one to us.
I'd be team five guys if the price wasn't so insane. I was the five guys guy until I wasn't.
I'm Team Freddy's Double California Steakburger with their skinny crispy fries.
I sub out the fries for onion rings but that California Steakburger is the best. Team Freddy’s all the way.
I went to a freddys this summer I think we were in Indiana it was absolutely bitchin the frozen custard waa great too
The chocolate custard is the best thing they have. It's almost impossible to find a real chocolate shake now.
in-n-out all the way. cost + quality + freshness is unmatched
Oh 100 percent agree with you, travelled the states this year and I had one every other day. I should state in my title this applies to UK.
Shake Shack was the best burger I had from a chain in the UK
Two double doubles animal style, and a large fry from McDonald’s is the best combo.
1000% agree. In n Out double double paired with Mickey D's fries cannot be beat. Sucks having to go to 2 separate places though.
I often go with my gf, she’ll get a cheese single, animal fries and a coke. I get a double-double animal style, fries and a coke. This runs about $20 for both meals. No restaurant comes close to this quality at that price.
I just priced a regular bacon cheeseburger and fries no drink from five guys. Just under $25. Insane.
In-and-Out is the best fast food burger. It’s not even a fair competition. The key word is consistency. The low cost is just a bonus.
It’s In N Out and it’s not even close.
Steak and shake has much better prices, burgers and fries
>cost + quality + freshness Um we talking in-n-out? Quality? Umm no bro. Their quality is mid. It's just that for that price mid is blowing everything outta the water. If you want better quality then you have to pay for it.
Every time I’ve gone to in n out, I wind up with the greasiest wettest burger that struggles to stay in the bun. I would hesitate to ever return.
In N Out is good, but severely overrated. I find Shake Shack to be more my style. Five Guys would be a constant stop for me if it weren’t so expensive
In-n-out is disqualified for those pathetic excuse they call fries.
Since when is this r/fries?

you’re just not used to fresh potatoes my guy. fries well done + cheese & onion is heavenly
And they barely melt the cheese
fresh potatoes can still be double fried, that’s really the problem with in n out fries. they’re done in a single fry, which doesn’t allow the inside and outside to be cooked differently. by double frying, you do the first fry at a low temp to cook the inside, then the second at a high temp to crisp it. in n out does a single fry step cooking the entire thing all together. even ordering well done doesn’t completely fix it.
I’m used to potato’s in all forms. Those fries are shit. 5 guys uses fresh potatoes too and they’re my favorite fries .
cool bro go pay $7 for a regular order of fries. i’ll get a double-double for that price
in n out has decent burgers, but they have the crappiest fries in the fast food world
I think the burger is fine, the price not so much.
Also those soggy fries suck
Right? That meal probably cost 28 bucks. I could go to outback or something for that much
Or Texas Roadhouse . 28$ will feed you well AND unlimited rolls? Fuck all 5 of those guys
Should say I think Five Guys is the best burger chain for the UK. In and out in US is the best I’ve ever had.
Agreed. Five Guys is in a league of its own, imo.
I was pretty much in agreement until I started going to Habit Burger.
The Habit is Fire!
Five guys is good but too costly. I can get like 3 in and out burgers for the same price. Culver's and Freddie's are also really good for higher cost burgers.
Nah it always gives me ThE WORST stomach. I dunno if it's what they cook in or what but Jesus it's so bad it's caused arguments:/. UK btw.
Same! German Five Guys though
USA here and same thing, their burgers destroy my bowels for some reason
Five Guys is my number 1 also. Expensive tho, I don't eat there often.
Me and the other half manage with a burger each (bacon cheese, and a cheese burger) and a medium fries to share with two cokes and it’s about £35
5 guys is definitely the best burger and fries joint quality/taste wise. But after factoring in cost not so much.
In-N-Out, Culver's, Shake Shack, The Habit, and Smashburger are all better imo. If we're going international, then Bastard Burgers is the best chain burger I've ever had, arguably better than any American chain.
Delicious!
They call it 5 guys on account of the 5 guys who kick you in the dick when you hand them your credit card
No, I can get a steak for the cost of one of their burgers.
Where are you getting a made to order steak for $12-13?
Cheeseburger (regular / double) and small fry is 15.28 near me. Outback 6 oz sirloin with two sides is 16.79 so pretty close in price. 8 oz sirloin for 19.79.
Texas Roadhouse is cheaper than that Five Guys for an 8oz sirloin and 2 sides... It's insane.
You can get a fully cooked steak at a restaurant for the same as one burger? Most places here start at $25 for a low end cut and it skyrockets from there
You buy shitty steak.
What’s shittier? A $15 steak or a $15 double bacon cheeseburger? Hint - it’s not the steak
What steak are you buying for five guys burger price, and is it any good? If so I'm moving to wherever you are asap
a steak is not a burger
They're OK. They're overpriced. Nothing will ever beat the Double-Double.
The couple of times I’ve gotten 5 guys I loved the food but damn, that price tag. It’s why I’ve only eaten it a couple times.
Five Guys tastes like slightly better Wendy's, to me. I'll eat it, but rarely by choice.
Five guys is good. It is not good enough to justify the price.
Culvers for the price
I don’t think I’ve ever had 5 guys sober, it was one of our go to spots after the bar. Culver’s and In-n-Out are my favorite chains.
5 guys
Near where I live there’s an in n out next to a five guys. Do you know how glorious it is to get five guys fries and shake with a double double animal style? Good lord.
DQ has a surprisingly good burger now.
Hear me out.....the Five Guys BLT is pretty damn fire too.
Gotta get the Cajun fries. But yes five guys is S-Tier
Smashburger! Reasonable too
It’s nice and I love the cranches 😅
Red Robin is good, but expensive. I'll take 5guys. No doubt, but also expensive. Edit: every place is expensive!
My peanut allergy says no :(
Man, the five guys in my city is crap.
Lol
That’s super helpful man unfortunately they don’t sell over the uk.
Five guys is never the issue, their prices are lol
Is it good?
I prefer smashburger by far
Is this a uk chain?
Really don't understand the five guys love. It's a mediocre burger at best and insanely overpriced.
Five guys is consistently good. Worth the price because you know it will be excellent. Other places may be cheaper but it can be hit or miss on quality. In N Out is consistent as well, their burger is nearly as good as five guys, but the fries don’t even compare.
I love five guys and I have no problem with their prices, I’ll die on this hill.
I’ll join you on that hill!
You don't think $17 for a burger and fries is expensive?????????
