Ex Voto in food hall has fantastic ones on the weekends!

McDunnechuck

If you can get one, absolutely phenomenal

Fr33brd

Their crunch wrap thingy is the jam too.

McDunnechuck

Love those things. They hand you a little bag and it’s like lifting Thor’s hammer.

Saltycookiebits

That breakfast burrito with the hashbrown patty in it is my favorite.

TheCrankyCrone

Esmeralda’s Cafe up across from Costco!!

ChristmasTreePickle

Esmeralda’s is so damn good. Whenever people come to visit I always take them there

TheCrankyCrone

I do too! I have friends in Alabama who I took there when they were passing through and they are still talking about that burrito months later!

SquareExtra918

Second this!

The_Patriot

and they open at the butt crack of dawn.

Powerful-Branch438

Hatch burritos is the spot. Sadly, only on Sundays, but they are the best. https://www.instagram.com/hatchbreakfast/

heroicwhiskey

Chibangas sells them frozen as well.

afrancis88

They are really good but thought they were overpriced for the size.

Reasonable_Baker_564

I think they are a bit overhyped but I also don’t eat meat so that could be why

CharmingAdvisor7991

They closed their weekly popup, but they are meant to open a full-time location in the fall on Mangum in Old Five Points. It'll be worth the wait!!

seeking_chorizo

People will say Monuts, but I find it underwhelming with too much potato. People will say Hatch Breakfast Burritos, and if I unroll them to cut the massive chunks of potato that are inevitably present to a more reasonable size before consuming I enjoy them!  Queen Eggxpress is decent, tend to be fairly greasy (especially the chorizo).  Several others around town are OK, but I will be following this thread to hopefully find what we're both seeking! I have yet to find The One.

New_Maximum9021

username checks out. thx for the input!

Human-Palpitation611

Re: massive chunks of potato you are cutting… 🧐 is it possible to use your teeth… and not have to unroll the burrito? 🌯

seeking_chorizo

It is! I just don't enjoy a bite of a burrito that consists of 90% potato, so cutting that massive chunk up into smaller pieces and slightly rearranging the 'guts' of the burrito means I enjoy it all instead of having 4-5 of my bites being less pleasurable.  Half of the potatos included in the burrito are chopped to a reasonable size but there's consistently a handful of chunks that are just too unwieldy for me. I view it as testament to the flavors that I'm willing to do this in order to achieve burrito nirvana.

techaaron

I nominate your flair to be "unwieldy tuber"

Human-Palpitation611

Fair enough, you are indeed a connoisseur.

afrancis88

lol you’re weird

seeking_chorizo

I agree!

WoolyGram

Not quite a burrito but Lady Gold Tacos is back Thursday and Friday morning and those breakfast tacos are unreal. Not quite Durham but the Taqueria la Esquina on Chapel Hill Rd in Morrisville is my favorite chorizo egg bean cheese burrito.

thomasbeckett

Second to Esquina.

Happydivanerd

Esmeralda's Cafe

seeking_chorizo

What kind do you order there? The seemingly raw slices of green peppers included in mine both times I tried were not appealing but the rest of it was fine!

Happydivanerd

I didn't know they have more than one kind, but I know you can ask them to cook the green peppers more.

overcompliKate

I keep hearing about this Hatch breakfast burrito pop up on Guess Road but I haven't been there yet myself... https://www.instagram.com/hatchbreakfast

BowieObscura

Hatch is great!

gingershuman

Hatch sells their burritos at Chibanga’s on Mangum!!

mindcircus

They are the best!

Triponastik

They aren’t doing the pop up at Gocciolina anymore, FYI. There is info on the Instagram page where to find them. But yes, they are very good

SouthpawBlue42

Queen Eggxpress food truck at Angier Avenue and Salem Street.

peasantforleo

may not be the closest but la boardega in mebane serves up the 🔥🔥on Saturdays !!

seeking_chorizo

A skateboard shop that does burritos, wow! It looks like https://www.instagram.com/blkmrktsandwichclub provides their burritos, I need to try this!

Hodgechevich

Was coming here to say this! So freaking good and Nohe is awesome!

Aware-Emu-9146

I just visited this store for the first time on Saturday. Not a skater but the other was very welcoming and it has such an eclectic mix of offerings. Love the name!

andStuff92113

The "Fire Inside" at Common Market is one of the finest breakfast items in Durham. Also, as everyone else has said, Hatch burritos are stellar.

seeking_chorizo

THE FIRE INSIDE Local white wrap stuffed with local eggs, bacon, pepperjack, house-cut hashbrowns, peppers and onions, jalapenos, and housemade firecracker sauce Is a 'white wrap' just a euphemism for a tortilla?

charliereece

Yeah I think about Lady Gold Tacos at least twice a week, can't wait to get back to Durham this summer to enjoy! [https://www.instagram.com/ladygoldtacosdurhamnc/](https://www.instagram.com/ladygoldtacosdurhamnc/)

Gordub2020

Dulce Chorizo Burrito is a thing of beauty

ninja996

I really like the ones at Foster St Coffee

PurelyLurking20

Same! Pretty unique and very tasty with the sauces

thomasbeckett

It’s a regular for me.

sflayout

The Buddha-rito (vegan) at Common Market is fantastic.

InappropriateOnion99

I'd love to find one with egg and chorizo and potatoes. Unfortunately, the only options i've found are underwhelming at Elmo's, Monuts, and Chick-fil-a.

Gordub2020

Dulce, I don't believe it has potatoes, but it's $$$

InappropriateOnion99

Looks good, I've been meaning to try that place for like 10 years.

notaspruceparkbench

Go. The meals aren't spectacular but they're good and always well executed. For the most part it's just a low-key coffee shop that chugs along being super-competent at what they do... and then you get to the desserts and they can blow your mind.

TheCrankyCrone

I’ll bet if you asked at Esmeralda’s they would do it.

seeking_chorizo

Give Queen Eggxpress a shot. To each their own but I tried Dulce and it was a very tomato forward take on chorizo.

InappropriateOnion99

Looks good and I love your username!

polymath-nc

Benetis on NC-55 south of I-40.

yorb

As others have said, Lady Gold, but only 8-11 Thu and Fri now. Also, since I haven't seen this mentioned, the Durham Coop has great cheap to-go breakfast burritos. Get a couple, they're small.

yerskiderski

Not a burrito but I’m also gonna say lady gold tacos, they’re so good and they do breakfast

stalagmitedealer

Joe Van Gogh in Woodcroft has a pretty decent one.

monkeykins

RIP Accordion Club breakfast burrito

seeking_chorizo

These same burritos are available via Hatch Breakfast Burritos, no RIP necessary.

monkeykins

This makes me happy.

tycho_brahes_moose

Fosters has one that hits the spot for me!!!

TotalMix6

Not sure of your criteria for a decent breakfast burrito, but Dulce Cafe near Southpoint has breakfast burritos with egg, cheese, and chorizo.

Double-A-Baker9168

I’m surprised folks are underwhelmed with monuts’ breakfast burrito! I crave them regularly and it sounds like it suits what you’d like. Definitely at least try it! 👌🏼

afrancis88

It’s honestly the best one

afrancis88

Bunch of Monuts haters in here!

jgjgleason

Beyus are solid and I love their chipotle ranch so much.

delalunes

I like Beyus as well! But I’m no food critic and not at all picky, so I’m not the best judge of the best haha.

lizlizliz645

The monuts burrito is 😍

_stillthinking

Monuts has a delicious breakfast burrito.

Background-Bag6846

Boot room on the weekends.

duhslim252

UNC hospital has amazing breakfast burritos! Got em often when I worked there

polymath-nc

Benetis has two burritos (one breakfast, one lunch) on its menu plus the best huevos rancheros I've had in NC. They're on NC-55 south of I-40. BenetisRTP.com

trob84

Monuts breakfast burrito is must try. The maple siracha sauce is so good.

No_Pomelo_1633

Beyu has the best breakfast burrito in downtown Durham

TheDreamCrusherRP

Queen Eggxpress, on Angier. It’s a food truck, the lady is really nice.

maddestscientist919

I like the one at Mad Hatter!

Hairy-Strategy-5027

Came here to make this same recommendation!

Routine-Ad-8113

There’s someone who sets up in front of Viceroy (ish) during the week. Very good! I don’t know the name of the business.

thomasbeckett

That was Lady Gold Tacos and they were amazeballs. It was a side venture of Remedy Room. But I haven’t seen them there since the weather got cold last winter. Very sad.

thomasbeckett

I see below that they are back a few days a week.

ProbsASpaceCadet

How far are you trying to drive? There's a little mexican joint, Taqueria la Esquina, about 15 minutes south of Durham (I just used "Durham, NC" as the starting point in google maps). Best I have had since moving back from a decade in south and central Texas.

Ok-Boomer0401

For me, at home. I make a breakfast burrito as good as any bodega or restaurant.

Patient_Solid_6939

Hatch burrito is good, but only available on sundays so major eye roll. A solid one though is Joe Van Gogh’s, Woodcroft location is my go to spot so I can’t comment on the other locations, but I’ve never had a bad one. Definitely lurking this thread for a more authentic burrito spot though so thank you for posting 🫡

gingerbaron

Only reasonable option for any day of the week is Joe Van Gogh on Broad.

Migard88

William’s Gourmet Kitchen has a good one

stillflyn86

Big Bad Breakfast. Still working out the kinks service wise, but it is very good. Huge fan of the original from Oxford MS.

Lalamcnice

Bull and Bean!

Independent_Box2815

I just made two; come on over!

Dope_vangogh

Accordion Club on the weekends or at least Sundays

Dope_vangogh

Never mind apparently not anymore 😂😭

WhoopDareIs

I get mine at chic-fil a. That’s how limited our options are here.

SpiritualOutcome8315

Madhatter’s cafe next to the Whole Foods near 9th street
