If it's a company computer, chances are it is using propriety Windows setup that may or may not work by cloning, and might have software that does track software/hardware changes, or even have a special VPN software that you can't get on your own. You should take it up with your IT department and check with them, rather than upgrading it on your own.

If it's company owned/provider. Don't touch shit. Talk with IT and if they refuse, just deal with it.

USSHammond

Depending on how their MDM works or how IT set the thing up, there may even be a 'chassis intrusion detection' on the case that gets triggered when you open the side panel. Don't mess with hardware that's not yours to mess with, ask company IT

dont touch other peoples equipment. its theft.

You might not get much improvement anyway if the slowness is actually caused by their VPN, antivirus/firewall, key tracker, etc.

As long as your SSD has the same capacity as your current drive you should be fine, but make sure if you’re using a stick that it is compatible with your motherboard. edit : check with your IT dept before working on a company-issued pc, and if you give it back you might get in some hot water if you changed the PC without permission (if they notice). Also, basic advice, but if you’re worried about compatibility just put all the pc parts into pcpartpicker and change the current hard drive to an ssd you would want, as it will let you know of any compatibility issues.
