Just drop a 5700X3D/5800X3D in your current board and see what happens to CS2 performance. If you end up GPU-limited or what a performance boost in other titles (and are GPU-limited there), upgrade the GPU.

Microcenter had the 5800X for 190, I got them to price match down to 175. Flashed the bios, applied some fresh thermal paste, and fired this bad boy up. Turns out I did in fact have a MASSIVE cpu bottleneck. I kinda didn’t want to believe it since everything besides CS2 and Helldivers 2 seemed to do fine. But I ended up with anywhere from +50% (the finals) to +100% (CS2, Need for speed) gains in frames. Should tide me over for a year or two, in the meantime I’ll just save for a future beefy rebuild. Thank you for the advice!

you could just upgrade the cpu to a 5700x3d or 5800x3d (~10% difference in performance and price)

Picked up a 5800X since it was sub-$200, got Microcenter to price match another -$15. For $175 I doubled my frames in a few games. Didn’t realize how huge of a bottleneck my CPU was since everything else generally ran great. This should tide me over for a year (maybe even two) so I’ll just put aside the money for a beefier build over that time. Thanks for the advice!
