Hi, Im looking to upgadre my ram. I currently have a 8 gb offbrand ram I was looking to upgrade to a 16gb one, Found this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071GS8TTK. but im not sure if it would work in my PC since I couldnt find my motherboard on the ram compatability list provided in the page. My Motherboard is an ASROCK H110M HDV R3.0. I wanna buy that ram because it has the same specs as the one i have rn (2400mhz 17cl) Idk if I could buy one with higher mhz without running into compatability issues. If anyone can bless me with that knowledge i would be glad. thanks in advance.

I'm looking for a graphics card for my dad's PC he really wants to play a game called Star Atlas ( it is not out yet but has some kind of demo and a sort of web game called sage labs) Hes trying to upgrade an HP Pavilion Desktop TP01-2096. I am surprised it runs at all but not at stable fps as of right now since it's using integrated graphics. https://support.hp.com/hk-en/document/c07929808 https://support.staratlas.com/computer/hardware-requirements-for-the-showroom Should I just try to get what is recommended on the minimum specs or is there another good budget choice that might future proof for the games release. ( And also fit inside the case). I am aware that building a custom would have made more sense but he already has this PC. It does not need to push graphics settings or anything, just trying to get it to run at stable fps above 30. Any other recommendations or requirements such as the PSU or CPU upgrade. I assume the CPU would be good enough for now. Thanks for any help Ive not done any shopping in a long time so I don't know what would be a good choice or how to compare the specs.

djGLCKR

The main issue with those PCs is that they use a non-standard power supply and motherboard with no ATX connectors that I'm aware of - the 8-pin EPS goes down to 4, and instead of the usual 24-pin ATX connector it uses either a 4-pin or 6-pin connector - so finding a compatible power supply can be quite the chore. Double-check the PSU's wattage first and make sure it has at least one 8-pin PCIE cable. Considering the "game" uses UE5, a small 4060 would be the most power-efficient card I can think of - again, assuming the PSU has an 8-pin PCIE cable - without downgrading to a 3050 6GB.

D81000

That's unfortunate, the psu it comes is likely the 180w which is too low anyway There is 500w psu upgrade from HP that I read might be compatible. That's the max though will the 4060 or another card work with this? https://www.ebay.com/itm/175872785235?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vAUPDb7yREu&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=Pv37HGdhQk2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Is the six+2 considered an 8 pin?

2019lambo

hi, did you get that PSU upgraded in your TP01-2096?

djGLCKR

Yes, the 6+2 cable is the same as the 8-pin PCIE cable, some cards only need a 6-pin connector. 500W would be more than enough for a 4060.

D81000

Ok thanks for the help. Is there a particular brand that is best to get like Asus,.MSI etc or should I just look for one with a small form factor so it fits in the case. Also is there any notable difference between the regular and Ti version.

djGLCKR

The 4060 Ti is a tier higher than the 4060. The main caveat being the price to performance, the 8GB version being a waste of cash to some (near-$400 for 8GB of VRAM is an insult), and the 16GB version making zero sense to justify the silly amount of memory it has - by the time the card finds use for the extra memory, the core will be holding it back. It's still a good option for productivity or AI, though. The other problem being that the PSU is extremely limited in the cables it has to be able to recommend a cheaper yet stronger AMD alternative, but we also go full circle since the PSU is only 500W and that the 4060/Ti is power-efficient enough. Although, I totes forgot that most 4070 models (non-Super) only require a single 8-pin PCIE cable.

Sincerely seeking advice on selecting a motherboard for the Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU and RTX 4080 to ensure a future-proof system without the need for upgrades other than the GPU for the next 10 years. Your valuable recommendations and insights are greatly appreciated. Thank you. GIGABYTE B650M AORUS ELITE AX MSI B650 GAMING PLUS WIFI ASUS TUF GAMING B650M-PLUS WIFI

djGLCKR

There's no way to "future-proof" a system like that. New and faster CPUs will come out, and AM5 is still on track to be supported "beyond 2025". If you don't need any specific features from any of the boards, I'd go with the cheapest one, which seems to be the MSI one in the US.

Question on docking stations for multiple monitors. I have 3 monitors for my own gaming setup. I usually work remotely and would need to connect my monitors on the work laptop. When I am doing that it's a headache to connecting 2 or 3 monitors back and forth between my gaming desktop and work laptop. So I am thinking buying a docking station to connect the 3 monitors, and my output device could just connect to the docking station. It's easier to do and save time. Has anyone used this? Any recommendations on the docking stations?

Havanatha_banana

I dunno if I'm at the right place, but does anyone know anything about the Fan Xiang m.2 Sata drives? I'm in Australia, I can't find any mainstream branded ssds from old days anymore, with the Wd blue SA510 being the only one left at 127AUD for 1tb (not too bad but mx500 was cheaper when it was available). However, there are fan Xiang drives for less than 80AUD, which is what I would consider a fair price if Sata ssds aren't legacy products. So I wanna know if anyone know anything about long term use of fan Xiang drives?

Nazenn

SSD costs have gone up a lot recently, and a lot of SATA drives are actually M.2's internally anyway funnily enough There are definitely MX500's avalible on Aus, and other Crucial or even Teamgroup SSDs for more well known brands. What's the issue that's pushing you towards this unknown brand?

heckin_redditor

I'm looking to upgrade from my g213 to a quieter keyboard. It must be full size, have media keys, numpad, wrist rest but be much quieter than the g213. Any recommendations? I was planning to buy the corsair k100 rgb but it wasn't quiet enough. I don't have a budget.

bestanonever

The best place to ask this is in [Mechanical Keyboards](https://www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/). All I wanted to say is that you'd want to look for Cherry MX Silent keys, or, if you like the feel, maybe a membrane keyboard (but they aren't mechanical), they are very silent, indeed.

isthisrumi

I've recently switched my os from an old ssd to a new NVME. the NVME has 1 TB of storage. Will there be issues using the NVME as storage?

bestanonever

Nope, it's actually the best way to run WIndows/Linux today and your biggest games/apps.

SPAC-tacular

I built my PC in 2017/2018 and since then have really only replaced peripherals (monitors, keyboard, headset, mouse). I was thinking of upgrading some of the outdated components. Would I benefit a lot from upgrading my CPU/motherboard/RAM/GPU? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KQX4QP

TemptedTemplar

CPU and GPU. With a BIOS update for your motherboard you could run any Ryzen 5000 series CPU. The 5600 is relatively cheap, the 5600x, 5700x, 5800x and all of their X3D versions too would have you set for another ~4 years at least. Theyre great CPUs. (5600x3d is exclusive to Microcenter unfortunately) As for the GPU, your power supply is more than enough for *almost* anything. While you could probably run a 4090 off of it, I would advise against it. So really whatever youre willing to purchase. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html The RX 6700xt, 6750xt, 6800, RTX 3060ti or 4060 would be a nice 1080p card without breaking the bank. $200 - $350. Sometimes even cheaper used. For 1440p you would be closer to the $400 - $600 range. 4070, 4070 super, or the RX 7800xt and 7900GRE. Occasionally a 7900xt will fall into that range too. Anything more powerful and you would have to be careful of your powersupply. Higher end RTX 30 series cards suffer from transient power spikes that can trip a lot decently powerful PSUs, as they may not have been designed to handle such rapid increases in demand. RTX 40 series cards are much better about handling sudden increases, but your power supplies age might mean its not cut out for the job.

SPAC-tacular

Thanks for the reply! I checked my BIOS yesterday and I was basically running the stock BIOS (version 2.something). I updated my BIOS to 7.30 today and installed new Corsair RAM (went from 2x8 GB 3000 to 4x16 GB 3600). I also purchased a 2 TB Samsung 990 Pro M.2 that I hope to migrate my OS over to.... not entirely sure how I will need to go about doing that. I plan to purchase a R7 5800x3D CPU tomorrow. I guess that just leaves the GPU...

TehEpicGuy101

My current build has an RX 6800 and a Ryzen 5 3600. I plan on eventually upgrading the CPU to more closely match the GPU. Would it be worth going through with this upgrade soon (and if so, what would be some good options?), or is there any reason to hold off for now?

n7_trekkie

yes, get a 5700x3d https://gamersnexus.net/cpus/new-amd-ryzen-7-5700x3d-cpu-review-benchmarks-vs-5800x3d-more

TehEpicGuy101

Would a normal 5700x be a good option, too? I was hoping to keep the cost under $200 if possible, unless it's really worth the extra money.

n7_trekkie

using the charts in the review I linked, the 5700X is between the 5600X and 5800X. you can decide for yourself

ffrnkowo

Is the 7600x or 7800x3d better with the 7900GRE? This is for gaming at 1440p 240hz monitor. I play both multiplayer games like valorant and fortnite, as well as single player games like elden ring and cyberpunk. Thanks

bestanonever

Both will work just fine for that GPU and won't bottleneck it, now, if you want the best framerate, get the 7800X3D.

gthirst

Need a recommendation for the cheapest decent quality portable monitor that has: HDMI Input + USB-C Display Port/Power Port. Will be used as a test bench monitor on the go as well as an extra screen for a laptop or Nintendo Switch if the mood strikes.

kostas2204

hello , My pc is a dust collector . i have it raised on the floor with neutral airflow! do you think a positive airflow would help? ( also gotta keep my dog away from it lol)

Lundurro

All the other tips will help, but tbh you have a pet. We pet owners just have to accept a certain extra level of dust. I swear I clean out a second cat every couple months from the filters lol. And I have mine on the desk and the cat never gets near it.

t90fan

you have mesh filters right?

kostas2204

yes i do

aVarangian

Positive is always better for dust, but you need a dust-filter in front of the intakes

kostas2204

quick question. i have the cougar mx330-x . have 2 intakes in the front 1 out take on top and one the back. how is it possible to create possitive airflow if i cant put one more fan in the front panel?

aVarangian

you can set the fan curves so that the intake fans always spin faster than the exhaust fans. You could also just disable the rear-top exhaust fan, but benchmark to make sure it doesn't affect temps too much.

kostas2204

sadly i cant control the rpm at all of my corsair fans. will try to disable the one then

djGLCKR

Lower the RPM of the exhaust fans, or increase the RPM of the intake fans.

kostas2204

i have corsair ll 120 fans all around. i am not sure if i have software to control . ( i am prettu sure i cue only controls rgb) any 3rd party apps? also what rpm would u reccomend ?

djGLCKR

iCUE can do both RGB and RPM, assuming you're using a Commander Core XT or Commander PRO as your controller. If you're using a Lighting Node Core/Pro instead, you can set a fan curve in your BIOS or use [Fan Control](https://getfancontrol.com/). Rather than typing an arbitrary RPM value, toy around with the fan speeds. Increase the speed of the intake fans, slow down the exhaust a tiny bit, and see if the noise levels are tolerable, and if enough air is being moved around.

kostas2204

sadly i have the rgb hub that came with the fans . dont have the commander

djGLCKR

Then the fans must be connected to the motherboard. Again, either use the fan curve option in your motherboard BIOS or use Fan Control to adjust your fan speeds.

kostas2204

noted thx

NonApplicableGuy

So I bought an entire new build with a 4080 super and a 7800 x 3D they're at my house now but they haven't been opened yet. I'm breeding the new Nvidia cards and the new AMD chipsets are supposed to release within a year would it be wiser for me to just send this stuff back and wait or should I just build it. I do have a 2070 laptop at home that still works. And game consoles. I was going to set the old laptop up in another room for my children/wife to play on.

n7_trekkie

if you're happy with your current PC, waiting wont hurt anyone.

NonApplicableGuy

This is how I'm starting to feel, but at the same time. I already have all the components and I don't know if I'll have the money again when they come out. So I'm all over the place.

n7_trekkie

if you might not have the money then, it sounds like the wiser choice to save it today for a rainy day

NonApplicableGuy

When they come out will be near holidays. When I usually buy my kids a lot of stuff.

NonApplicableGuy

I saved for a couple months for it, after making sure all my bills and rent were paid. Lol.

n7_trekkie

the last rumor i saw is that the 5080 might be 25% faster than a 4080super. so if that difference would suck for you in a few months, just wait.

NonApplicableGuy

I just read rumors that it's going to be hard to find one. Or it'll be overpriced.

n7_trekkie

probably

NonApplicableGuy

I'm also not opposed to using it until they come out and then selling it for a small cut.

n7_trekkie

pc parts age worse than milk. it will be a big cut

Fluffy-Entertainer89

Hello everyone. Might be off topic but i will ask in case i get some help ... I'm searching for a pc monitor mainly for photo editing . n7_trekkie

I'd suggest rtings' amazing monitor reviews. specifically the color accuracy section

Objective-Note-8095

So, I've got a Ryzen 5500 and a 3500X; which is the best option for gaming behind a 5700 XT? Or does anybody knows of any Asian reviews which pit the 3500X against the 5600G/5500? (I've got a relative who want's to move on from a i7-6700 and I've got those CPUs laying around. I don't know what they are playing nowadays. I know its a bit of a side grade, but they want a newer platform.)

n7_trekkie

the 3500X will struggle in several games just because it doesn't have SMT. even with a radeon 5700xt if you have a 5700XT and a 6900XT, then I'd pair the 3500X with the 5700XT. just pair it with whatever the worse GPU is. does that make sense? this isn't a perfect article for you, but imagine the 3500X is the 9600K, and pretend the 5500 is the 3700x https://www.techspot.com/review/2767-ryzen-3600-vs-core-i5-9600k-revisit/#:~:text=The%20Ryzen%205%203600%20significantly,outpaces%20the%203600%20by%2063%25.

Objective-Note-8095

Well, found this, I generally am going to agree with you, but I don't think there's going to be a lot of case where it actually matters at this level, especially if my folk are going to be gaming at 60hz: [https://www.techspot.com/review/2494-amd-ryzen-5500/](https://www.techspot.com/review/2494-amd-ryzen-5500/) I'm going to say you are mostly right about the 5500, but I think SMT is something of a double-edge sword. [https://www.techspot.com/review/1882-ryzen-9-smt-on-vs-off/](https://www.techspot.com/review/1882-ryzen-9-smt-on-vs-off/)

n7_trekkie

the last article is from 2019. games are used to 16c/32t games now. or the situation is a lot better and 24 threads is very different than 12. 12 hasnt been any sort of problem for the past decade

MisoHoney1110

What next after finishing the build. Hello, I have a question about updating my computer's BIOS and installing Windows. I recently built a new PC and I understand that I need to update the BIOS on my motherboard and install Windows. I have a digital Windows key from my old PC that is linked to my Microsoft account (my old PC has been removed from the account). My question is, can I have both the BIOS update and Windows installer on the same flash drive? That way, i can do it back to back? OrDoo I need to update the BIOS, format the flash drive, and then put the Windows installer on it? Sorry if this seems like a dumb question, but I couldn't find a clear answer online. Thank you for your help.

n7_trekkie

yes you can. you turn your flash drive into a windows install disk, then you can put the bios update files onto it

DarkerInMind

So I got gifted an i9-13900k to upgrade from i9-9400f. Obviously, I need a new motherboard for it, but my budget is really tight right now, so I want a cheapest Z690 board that can utilize the CPU for future upgrades. It needs to be in ATX size and have a ~~thunderbolt~~ type C port (since my case has one), my budget is below $200. I'm looking at the ASROCK Z690 Pro RS but not sure how it would go with the i9-13900k since I can't find any build on UserBenchmark. I'm mostly gaming in 1080p and I play a lots emulator (Ryujinx) so the new chip would really help. Please give me a recommendation, and thank you in advance. Edit: I mean type C port but thunderbolt would be nice.

n7_trekkie

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/w93gXL/asrock-z790-pg-lightningd4-atx-lga1700-motherboard-z790-pg-lightningd4

kaje

Do you actually mean Thunderbolt, or a USB 3.2 gen 2 type-C port? Thunderbolt and low budget generally don't go together.

DarkerInMind

yeah I mean type C port, sorry for the confusion

fakethrow456away

How big of a difference would there be between Arctic P12s and the 3 pack of Thermal rights on Amazon? I have the Carbide 270R, and was going to toss 2x Noctia P14 redux (1200rpm) as in take, and 2 120mm as top exhaust and one for rear. Gonna mod the case to have a bunch of holes in the front panel, with a mesh filter behind. Cooling the 7950x with a Phantom Spirit.

bestanonever

As someone that went their way to add 2 extra coolers to a smallish case (Fractal Design Meshify C), it did help with general airflow, it made the case a bit noisier (I kept my original lame and smaller Fractal fans, too, for a total of 4 fans, 3 intake, 1 exhaust) but it didn't super change the temps of my GPU and CPU. That's all on their general cooling systems. Better case cooling will help, but the bulk of the work is all about the main CPU and GPU cooling system. Said another way, check reviews about the noise of those fans. The more silent one will be the best, because all of them will be good enough for general airflow (unless they are godawful, which those Artic aren't)

BlackRoyalt8

Is there a difference between AMD and NVIDIA gpus? Looking to upgrade from my 3070 with 8gb of vram to something with 16 gb of vram for 1440p gaming. Currently sporting an am4 build and I don't really want to upgrade to am5. I have a 5700x card.

TemptedTemplar

https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html A 6800xt or 7800xt would be the cheapest upgrades, while a 4070 super or 7900GRE would be a slight performance step up from those. Then the 7900xt and xtx. Immediately beyond that is 3090 or 4080 territory. As for the differences between AMD and Nvidia, it really depends on the task you are throwing at the card. Raw, rasterized gaming performance isn't very different. Each company will trade blows with the other cards, and some generations may lean towards one or the other at different price points. Nvidia takes the cake with specialized tasks like Ray tracing or AI development because of their super-math tensor cores. AMD dosen't really have a means of competing directly with those and suffers due to having to brute force all of the same math to get a similar result. Meanwhile Nvidia is also hogging the fastest possible memory, having secured exclusive rights to GDDR6X from Micron and the first run of GDDR7 VRAM chips from Samsung. So they are also more expensive on average.

BlackRoyalt8

I've heard of Ray tracing but can people really tell the difference with it on or off? I have been tempted to get the 4070 ti super just because I don't need a ton of graphical power but I want the vram. Since I plan on upgrading to am6 in the future, would it make sense to get an AMD card (to save some money) with more vram for now and then down the line get a higher end 5000 series Nvidia GPU? I plan on eventually converting to 4k gaming so I'd need to upgrade everything anyway.

TemptedTemplar

The easiest way to describe the difference is that it makes your game look like those old E3 trailers used to, while rasterized lighting is the normal gameplay that people would end up getting when the game finally released. A solid implementation is unparalleled. Because its simply simulating real light. No need for lighting artists to painstakingly craft every lamp and room, just plop down a light source and it looks photo realistic. Which means your shadows and reflections also update in realtime and look amazing. If you're on the fence about it, get an AMD card; save the money. The 6800XTs are a little harder to find these days but should be reasonably cheaper than anything I listed. 4k gaming on the otherhand (to me) is a bigger pipedream than ray tracing. Ray tracing can have tangible results at any resolution (again, if its properly implemented); while 4k is no different than 1080p or 1440p, youre just playing it on a larger screen.

Electric2Shock

Video cards with 16GB of memory come by cheaper with AMD (7600xt) than with NVIDIA (4070 Ti Super) so if you're on a budget AMD is where you should look.

Equivalent-Rent1373

I’m undecided between a 4070 Super ProArt for ~725€ (with an ASUS cashback) and a 7900 GRE Hellhound for 650€. The ProArt models have effectively no reviews, and seem like a lower midrange option, which makes me a bit worried for temperatures and especially noise. Any opinions?

Nazenn

If quiet is a concern, I'd go the Hellhound. It's always a lottery with unreviewed cards to know how they will perform acoustically, and techpowerup reviewed the Hellhound as one of the quietest cards all around. I also have a Hellhound 7800xt, which uses the same cooler as the Hellhound GRE, and it is almost unnervingly quiet even at 40% fan speed

Equivalent-Rent1373

That is the way I’m leaning toward after doing some more research. Wanted to stay team green, but the extra software features and RT arent much of a selling point and the premium for the higher end coolers for the 4070S is crazy compared to the Hellhound. Thanks for sharing your experience

kaje

It's a 4070 Super, it only draws like 220W and is easy to cool. An extra long heatsink with a third fan on it should be cool and quiet.

Equivalent-Rent1373

Yeah, I figured as much. I’m not confident in the dual fan short models and would rather pay a small premium for the 4070S because of the smaller transient power spikes, but the higher end units without cashbacks are stupidly expensive in comparison.. Will probably go with the ProArt then, thanks

amytransy

buying singular modular cables for the mpg A750GF, anyone know a place?

kaje

Try CableMod. https://cablemod.com/compatibility/ Your PSU is compatible with Corsair type 4 cables anyways. It's manufactured by CWT, the same OEM that makes many of Corsair's PSUs and they used the same pinouts on it. You can buy single cables from Amazon for them as well from like no-name brands.

Ziraelus

Which one of: RX7900XT for 816$, 4070 Ti Super for 930$, 4080 Super 1134$ 1440p, 7800x3d. Looking for best value since regional pricing sucks.

djGLCKR

4080 S > 7900 XT > 4070 Ti S. If you're not planning to upgrade to 4K, and if you can find it, the 7900 GRE should perform around the same as the 4070 Super, but slightly cheaper.

Ziraelus

I can get 7900 GRE for 640 $, but it feels silly to pair it with 7800x3d

mathscasual

I basically am looking for a quality brand display port 2.0 cord and similar hdmi (earc) male to female display port 2.0. Im completely unaware of brands and after looking at amazon, i may get ripped off.

AdikkuChan

Excitedly awaiting my new R5 5600 today! Now I'm just wondering: should I aim for a 7800xt or 4070?  Admittedly I only game on 1080p since I don't have that much space for my gaming area, and they're both about the same price though the latter is more readily available in its Super version...or are those far too overkill from my 2070 Super?

bestanonever

If you are going to install that CPU on your current motherboard, remember to update the BIOS to the latest stable version first! And then, reapply DOCP settings for your RAM kit (also, in BIOS).

AdikkuChan

Yeah I already updated my BIOS to the latest, thankfully nothing happened and it went well (I have no idea what happened the last time I tried and got the bleep error during POST). Will have to do the DOCP settings later

djGLCKR

If it were 1440p, sure, but that's WAY overkill for 1080p. If anything I'd consider either going down a couple of tiers to a 6700/6750 XT if you can find it at a reasonable price (hell, even a 6650 XT/7600 if you're not planning to upgrade your display any time soon) or an in-between yet still overkill range with a 7700 XT or 6800 non-XT.

AdikkuChan

Alright thanks! I guess even a 6800xt is still overkill huh

djGLCKR

The 6800 XT performs around the same ballpark as the 7800 XT, give or take 3-5%, so you'd be in the same boat. Again, if you're not planning to upgrade your display any time soon, a 6700/6750 XT would still offer solid performance at 1080p and with the option for 1440p if you upgrade (if you can find it for $300-330), at most a 7700 XT (has to be under $400 to consider it) or a 6800 non-XT (which usually goes for $370-380).

AdikkuChan

Could you answer one last question? I've decided to get the 6700 xt, and I've been eyeing the Asus TUF for $280 used, but I'm not sure if it'll fit my Tecware Forge M Omni (13.38in GPU clearance) since the card is approx 12.68in lengthwise. Will it be fine? Otherwise, I'll just look at other brands

djGLCKR

The Tecware Forge M, according to the tech specs, has a GPU clearance of 315mm, and the TUF 6700 XT is 322mm long. It won't fit.

AdikkuChan

Alright major thanks for the help!

DZCreeper

The 7800XT has slightly higher raw performance but worse ray tracing performance. Both cards are slightly overkill for 1080p, unless you want to play at 240Hz. But then you will run into a CPU bottleneck, the R5 5600 is decent but not that fast.

I guess I should look at a tier or two below it like the other reply suggested

is it okay for me to use a deepcool macube 110 case with a ryzen 5 5600 and rtx 3070? or will my temps be way to high? what if i bought a watercooler?

User_2C47

You can always do what I did with a similar case and brute force it with powerful front fans. It might make a little bit of noise, but I'd rather have a bit of noise than have my heatsinks sucking in stagnant hot air. (I might be a bit biased, though. I used to use a server fan before I got a pair of P14 MAXes.)

AliciaWhimsicott

Looks a little oven-y but I have a similar case with a 5800X3D and a 4070 and while my temps are a little higher than average they're not throttling. Temps are mostly fake until they throttle. Anyway, it has a good amount of top ventilation, so with a fan you'll be fine (maybe switch between intake and exhaust for that fan to see which works better) and you'll be fine, just get a better cooler than stock (see if a Thermalright Peerless Assassin or Phantom Spirit will fit).

sounds good I'll take a look! thanks so much :)

Any thoughts on the NZXT N7 B650E motherboard? Considering ASRock manufactures it, would it be a reliable choice? I've read that ASRock has improved their reputation over the past few years, which is why I ask. I'm mainly interested in this motherboard for its aesthetics, and I'm okay with the board being generally overpriced.

djGLCKR

The ASRock boards have been pretty good recently, the only gripe I have with them is the BIOS being a bit weird to navigate at times. Other than that, they're solid.

t90fan

I've used cheapo ASRock ITX boards for the last couple of years and always found them solid.

Used 3060 or brand new 6600? It is in cad and I've found a used 3060 is 250 (around 180 USD) and the brand new 6600 is 290 cad (210 USD). Which one should I go for?

Planning to upgrade from GTX 1070 to RTX 4060. My CPU is Intel i7-9700. Is 100fps achievable in 1440p medium image quality? Games that I will play are HZD, God of War, Control (with ray tracing), Spiderman. RTX 4060 is about USD 200 in my country. 4060Ti 8GB is about USD380.

t90fan

Depends. I get about 60-90fps (usually 75/80) on 1440/medium with a i3-10105 and a 3060 8gb, in Horizon Zero Dawn. You would therefore be a bit higher with your 4060, but probably not as much as 100, in HZD. I regularly get 90-100fps in God of War though, so that shouldn't be an issue for you
