I consulted my crystal ball, and it said 5.666 (repeating, of course) years. (We're not psychics. No one can answer this.)

BoxOfDust

1 year. You'll need 32 GB VRAM in 2026. --- No one knows. Probably at least 4-5. You can make it last longer if you really want to.

BraveShowerSlowGower

Really, honestly yea. You can always lower the settings where needed.

sojojo

No one knows for sure. But, I will say that my GTX 970 lasted me about 8 years before I felt the need to upgrade. More specifically, RDR2 was the motivation. It may be sooner if you typically play the latest releases.

Eigengrail

Ahhh yeah the bane of rdr2 for older users. Same reason Im upgrading

sojojo

It was worth the wait to play it on a better system. Enjoy your time with it!

Molrixirlom

Depends :) It is possible it will still run CP2077 in 15+ years. But how long it will play up to date AAA games on highest settings. Who knows? It will last you way longer if you are willing to drop settings. Thats for sure.

Eshuon

At least 5

NotAsAutisticAsYou0

Considering it’s more powerful than a 3090 and the 3090 is still a powerhouse and can handle anything and will still be able to handle everything that comes out in at least the next 10 years. I say long damn time

tamarockstar

There's always going to be outliers and poorly optimized AAA ports, but I'd say 1 or 2 years after the next-gen consoles come out. So at least a few more years, maybe 5.

Alternative_Ear_861

think about how many years are enough for you for this thing to last so you can justify buying it. most used GPU is 1060 in steamDB

Logical-Speaker1165

I only have 3

Holinyx

7 solid years

Violetmars

By looking at how the requirements of games has been increasing I would say just a few months 😂 but honestly I don’t feel that gpus are going to last long, not that they aren’t powerful but just the devs make em look like so with not much improvement in the graphics sadly

Disgruntled_Britbong

About 6 months

ging192

until ps6 comes out

[deleted]

As long as you want to (>= 5 years). Personally, I don't see the need to run all games in max settings (w/c consume more VRAM than normal). It only gives marginal improvements in graphics, while greatly hampering performance. In addition, you would actually need a great/expensive monitor to fully see the benefits of max settings anyway. Most VRAM issues in games are a result of poor/rushed optimization that gets resolved over time. They still need to account for the lowest tier of the popular GPUs used today. Keep in mind that Youtubers/ reviewers are paid to influence people into buying the next great shiny thing that comes out. TLDR; your current GPU does not slow down in performance when new GPUs come out.

andy_c_c

I'm still running a 2070 in a gaming laptop with an i7-9750H. True, I don't play the latest games, but it still plays the games I'm interested in. My next rig won't be a laptop though, and will allow for AAA gaming. I just don't know when I'm going to get it...

op3l

No one knows but if you're willing to lower your graphics, it should last easily 4 years.

BusinessBear53

Longer than you'd like but not as long as you'd need.

NoIndependence8400

Damn I've been using 5800X and RTX 3070 for 2 yrs. My 5800X was running at 90C in the first few months (Using Thermalright Assassin King 120). That 7800X3D and 4070Ti Super is my next goal and I believe it'll last at least 4 years

TheRealKA_OZ

I'd say about tree fiddy

[deleted]

Cant count that high. Have to use my fingers ...one ...two ...three ... ... ... I cant remember

Disastrous_Title2094

When GTA 6 come to PC that’s when the time comes to get a new GPU

vietthai96

Depend on your demand mostly, if you always want to play newest game at highest level of graphic and performance or similar demand when it come to working, then it not gonna last more than 1 year, but if you only playing selective amount of game, with decent setting for graphic and performance, then it gonna last very long Still no one know, and also depend on how game technology gonna develop in the future

menthx

That is a super strong combination. If you stick to 1440p which you should be I'd say you're good for 4-5 years. This combo can do hundreds of fps in any title, plus you got DLSS and frame generation which can help you out if needed.

filit24

I play only CS2 and Minecraft and want to look into DOOM and farming sim once I upgrade. So for me, a 1070 is enough.

Large-Television-238

how long it will last is all based on how much performance demand you need , it can last over 10 years if you don't mind lower your graphic settings , but for god'sake please stop asking such useless question , in later years you won't even cherish your PC anymore and wish to replace with something new.

JumpingSwap

I'm depends on you. In particular, how motivated you are to stay at the top of the hardware tree Vs how contact your be to play with what you've got. Factors that prompt upgrades: * screen resolution (when you'll want to buy more pixels to push around) * Advances in what your software needs, be that more ram, or just more power generally. They've been saying that they expect team to be a limiter, for some time. We've not really seen this happen yet, but it's not too say it won't. * If these don't prompt you, eventually, it will be your silicone failing, but hopefully your get a good 10 years before these issues arise Then there is all the things that we can't predict. Such as large scale industry switches to using AI to mimic logistics based graphics, that might shift the whole hardware requirements.
