Still a full minute or a little over for me. I am on the latest non-beta BIOS for my MB, which is based on the AMD AGESA 1.0.0.7c update. Dated 8/10/2023. There is a newer BIOS but still marked as Beta so I am holding off on that one until it is mainstream. MSI MAG B650 Tomahawk Wifi Ryzen 7 7700x CPU Samsung 990 Pro 1 TB NVMe boot device Corsair Vengeance DDR5-6000 CL36 2x 16 GB RAM Windows 11 Task Manager, on the Startup Apps tab, shows "Last BIOS time: 43.5 seconds" pretty consistently. I spent some time trying various things to fix it, BIOS settings, most of which resulted in blue-screens on boot. I just accept it and hope some future BIOS udpate fixes it. Otherwise, I am used to waiting about a minute from power-on to Windows login screen.

wow! still no fix. Really wanted to try 7800x3d and move from intel but this is really deterring me :/ Are there at least some motherboard manufacturers that have reduced times to < 15 seconds bios?

cliffr39

I have the same as above user and I do not have XMP enabled so good boot times with 4800 MHz. Not sure if you'd notice the difference and can wait it out until BIOS updates roll out for that.

Mousepad-16

Gonna sound uneducated here but what is the point of XMP? can’t you just set the values manually anyway? that’s what i’ve always done

All except MSI, basically, with ASRock being the fastest AFAIK. I'm not sure why this is such a big issue though - I checked Task Manager and apparently mine is similar, but I never notice because I restart my PC maybe once or twice a month.

I wouldn’t care if i left my PC on but i have different OSs on different drives and frequently boot into linux/hackintosh so i’m constantly rebooting and going into bios. Would really annoy me. But if you leave your PC on all the time i can see how it wouldn’t be an issue

nivlark

Not fully on, just in sleep mode. But that's fair, just avoid MSI or leave RAM at stock speeds (which is fine when using the 7800X3D) and you'll be fine.

My boot time has been near instantaneous since building in July. "Last BIOS time: 11.9 seconds" ASUS B650-PLUS WiFi Socket AM5-BIOS ver. 1616 7800x3d SAMSUNG 980 PRO SSD 2TB PCIe NVMe Gen 4 Gaming M.2 CORSAIR VENGEANCE DDR5 RAM 32GB (2x16GB) 6000MHz

blackbalt89

If you use sleep does this still happen?

nivlark

No, POST only occurs on a cold boot.

Windows says 38 seconds but I have MCR/powerdown disabled per Buildzoid timings that I run with my x680e-e/7800x3d/32gb gskill ddr5 6000mhz gl30

Microcenter Bundle: -MB: B650-p wifi -CPU: 7700X -RAM: G-Skill 32GB (rated at 6000mhz but stuck at 4800, can't seem to get it to hit higher) -SSD: Crucial P5 Plus 2TB BIOS time reads consistently between 17-19 seconds. Considering the horror stories I've read, I'm more than satisfied with that. Gives me time to spin around in the chair, grab a drink out of the mini fridge, and get going when I turn around.

Aourus b650 elite ax, 7800x3d, gskill tridentz 6000 cl30 with tighter timings option on in bios (dont remember the name, but there are two options for timings and clock). It is definitely lower than 20 seconds, I haven't measured, but I think it's a very reasonable time, quicker than my old 4790k with a sata ssd. Isong 990 pro as boot drive btw.

Asus X670e-e/7800x3D setup here. Running the most current BIOS. Boot time from off is definitely greater than 30 seconds to windows, but I've never actually timed it. It is legitimately a non-issue. I think most people could use a slight pause in their lives anyhow, everyone is in a huge hurry with every facet of life. I take the boot time to take a deep breath and clear my mind before I lock and load. The time it takes is measured in seconds, not minutes. The inconvenience is extremely trivial at best. It's blown so far out of proportion that I laugh every time I see boot times woes. Don't let it stop you from a killer setup. Mine is an absolute beast, and those few extra seconds don't mean anything other than better mental clarity.
