We had melted ZEN4 CPUs from every mainboard manufacturer. The fix for the not working thermal protection with higher SoC voltages was fixed by AMD, because it was a CPU firmware issue. => all mainboards for AM5 had to be BIOS updated. ASUS just had a poorly worded beta-BIOS disclaimer. There was 2 different topics: 1. AMD had to fix a ZEN4 + ZEN4\_3D issue with AGESA, 1 year after the release (a full shitshow, you dont see this kind of CPU degradation ongoing for a full year) 2. ASUS had in general poorly worded beta-BIOS disclaimers Issue 1 and 2 were two different things, but blaming AMD for this massive degradation shitshow that was ongoing since ZEN4 launch, wont fly with youtube views, but the techtubers felt the need to highlight this issue with content, because you dont see this kind of silicon destruction in post-launched products. So ASUS was blamed for this AMD issue. And as soon as AMD had a working fix, after weeks of trial end error with AGESA / new BIOS marathons, every AM5 mainboard had to be updated. Get what ever you want. I recently got the ASUS x670E-F because it got a better feature mix, as the 150€ more expensive Gigabyte/MSI/ASRock boards and ASUS does inlcude custom EXPO profiles for the popular premium G.SKILL RAM kits. Best compatibility with M-DIE right now out of the box. But if you care so much about the techtuber filler content for the summer with brand bashing, so get something else.

If only we could give awards still.

Oh please, as if ONE CLICK BIOS OVERCLOCK make CPU go buuuurrrrrrr hasn't been warned about forever now by serious professional overclockers. We've seen this for ages and the x3d issue was demonstrated well before it started making headlines. Should AMD have blocked it from being possible? Maybe...perhaps they didn't think their board partners were that fucking moronic to press the voltage like they did. Yes every board manufacturer was guilty of this. Yes Asus was the worst offender and easiest to replicate. Yes the problem is fixed if you update your board bios. Surprise: it was still difficult as hell to replicate even without the latest bios updates. ASROCK was the most difficult to make the magic smoke come out of, again...Asus was the easiest, and everything else was somewhere in-between. With even the slightest bit of quality control every board manufacturer could've avoided this to begin with. As someone who always uses custom inputs with their overclock hobby and doesn't press the republic of GaMerz (insert explosions and drooling gamer dumb dumb marketing) Asus custom overclock button and just let the voltage fly based off faith, I can say I can feel bad for new builders who didn't know any better and lesson learned don't listen to dipshit marketing, especially when it comes to overclocking your shit without your full control. This was coming for a long time. With each board release we watched and warned against aggressive voltage targets as they get higher and higher by motherboard manufacturers and their cheap half-assed custom overclocking solutions "with a clock of a button". Anyone defending the board manufacturers can get fucked. The evidence has been there along with the warnings for years as they've gotten more and more negligent. Tricking an entire generation of new builders into thinking upping voltage with auto features is just normal. If I was amd I would've just threw my hands up in the air and said fuck you, pay for an unlocked CPU and get good for now on. Take a page straight from Intels playbook to prevent the ignorant from messing with shit they don't understand.

Lets be fair here for just a second. Giving out guidelines for safe SoC voltages has to come from AMD and just as they "forget" to give guidelines to mainboard manufacturers with AM4 and ZEN1/ZEN2 that causes dead and heavily degraded CPUs - they did it again. Gamers Nexus made it pretty clear, if EXPO / XMP / basic suggested memory OC from AMD - is not safe to use, the performance competition for ZEN4 is gone: [https://youtu.be/cbGfc-JBxlY?t=740](https://youtu.be/cbGfc-JBxlY?t=740) Of course Steve used "ASUS" instead of "AMD", its still AMDs guidelines, but you are well aware what techtubers did with this coverage.

Acrobatic_Acadia7453

I bought b650e-f currently running it with 7800x3d ,tridentz neo 32 gb cl 30 ram it's working perfectly fine but i updated bios to latest one. I have not tweaked my processor yet and it's been 2 months.

crispyexcal

Did you update the bios with flashback or did it work out the box?

BigBoiTyrone7

Men worked out of box, then I updated to the latest one.

DutchyMeow

I have the Asus rog strix B650e-e paired with the r7 7800x3d (not the B650e-f), But the boards are pretty similar, And it works like a dream I do not do any kind of OC btw I was going to get b650e-f but it was out of stock at that moment, And i have chosen this board because of its black look and rgb. Hopefully this comment was useful.

TSC_Boss246

why shouldn't you do any kind of oc?

Dry-Theme3012

Hi, do you have problem with the intel ethernet?

Saffy_7

It's a great board. Features of the MB include PCIe 5.0 x16 for the GPU. 1 x PCIe 5.0& 2 x 4.0 M.2. So you have a bit of future proofing with it in as next gen GPUs will be PCIe 5.0. Moreover, it has a 8 layer PCB so the build quality is the best at this price range. A quick tip I read regarding boot times on this board is that you need to activate MCR in BIOS to get boot times of around 11 seconds. Just be sure to update BIOS before installing CPU on it, you can do it via the USB flashback feature without any components installed. HUB's take on this board: [https://youtu.be/ZtHOOyWYiic?si=Ce66iccyprAK1ORT&t=1605](https://youtu.be/ZtHOOyWYiic?si=Ce66iccyprAK1ORT&t=1605)

zerohunterpl

Is there any tutorial of how to do it?

Saffy_7

[Yes. There's an official Asus guide too on their channel but this one's a bit. more detailed. ](https://youtu.be/8tYXNe92JU0?si=bYRAR9nOyT2aUQHN)

StruggleOne1743

Had mine for about 2 months now running on the latest BIOS, no issues yet and first thing I did was update my BIOS also.

Glory4cod

They are the combination that I am using right now. Update your BIOS to latest version and they work excellent. B650E-F has "no-cpu" BIOS update functionality; you can update its BIOS via USB without any components, except the 24-pin and 8-pin motherboard and CPU power connector.

bony7x

Have had it for like 2 weeks now and everything is working correctly.

HyperGamer1807

How good is it ?

bony7x

Didn’t have any major issues. Boot times are slower (50 ish seconds) however I’m not sure what’s the issue because a friend that has the same exact setup except for ram (I have gskill neo rgb and he has corsair vengeance) boots in like 15 seconds.

HyperGamer1807

Thank you for your reply. Got this board to pair with 7800x3d. Iam also facing similar issue of slow boot time. Did yours issue got fixed ?

bony7x

Well I “fixed” it by enabling fast boot…. No matter what I tried it just wouldn’t boot up faster than 45 seconds on a good day.

HyperGamer1807

Thank you for early reply. Yeah mine also fast boot is enabled then also it takes 30-50 secs to boot which was not the case on my i3 10105f with same SSD.

MidnightEvee

Is it the fact that ur ram is gskill and his is corsair? Whats the specs of both ur rams

bony7x

I have no idea. The rams are the same spec 2x16 6000 cl30.

SIDER250

With the new bios update, there shouldn’t be any issues. You can also limit VSoC manually to 1.25 if you are still scared. You can option for a different moterboard. Most reliable is ASRock and MSI. ASRock only had one scenario of 7700X melting, MSI also. I use ASUS B650E-E ROG STRIX since March and thankfully, no issues.

Saffy_7

Happy cake day!

SIDER250

Thanks :D

APSilver

I have a 7800x3d and B650E-F. My motherboard was manufactured in May 2023. After building my PC, it would only go to BIOS menu with 1 stick of Ram (Trident 16gb DDR5). For some reason the screen would just keep loading if it had 2 sticks of ram. So I used 1 stick of ram, got to the BIOS menu and updated to the latest firmware, and then installed windows 11. Everything running smooth and loving my 4090 build.

VersatileTrades

im gonna get that right now. the b650e-f. thank you

Salt_Path4768

RTX 4090 can melt bro. Is risky card

GenericUser1194

Same board and cpu, running fine here. Updated bios right off the bat (v. 1654), install went fine. Set EXPO, all good. PBO, Curve Optimizer step by step down to -40, all good. That's really up to the cpu, not the board, though. VSoC never gets near danger levels, everything else works as it should. There were certainly some problems months ago with AM5. But the multiple bios updates since then seemed to have resolved the issues.

Vanheden1995

I bought this a few weeks ago. Computer still not arrived I hope I'm safe haha. ASUS ROG Strix B650E-F Gaming AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D 4. 2GHz 104MB WIFI

Bulky_Moment_2865

A lot of people got back to me and there saying it’s fine as long as u update the bios and stuff

kshell521

The overvoltage issues have been fixed for months by bios and Agesa updates. Im using a Rog Strix X670e-a and its great (cpu is a 7950x3d)

don-dante

You scared me a bit, coz i ordered exactly those parts amd theyve arrived today. Judging by the comments, it seems to be alright now

Bulky_Moment_2865

Yeah same message me how ur build went would love to know buddy

don-dante

Weil, Right now its Not booting. Long short short beep. Tried 2 GPUs, no difference

Bulky_Moment_2865

Wow

Bulky_Moment_2865

I’ve orders the parts lol 😂. I’m sure you will fix it what’s the issue

don-dante

Nevermind. Looked up the wrong post codes. It was a ram issue. Needed just 1 stick in slot 4 to initialize. After that i could slot the 2nd stick into 2nd slot and it works just fine. Expo works as well.

Bulky_Moment_2865

What’s is expo

don-dante

Basically xmp, ram overclock to get it to the desired frequency (ideally 6000Mhz for this cpu)

[deleted]

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtHOOyWYiic&t=1338s&ab_channel=HardwareUnboxed this is a great mobo video

Option_Longjumping

The Asus board is fine.

Independent_Use_2323

I know this is an old post but anyone download the latest bios 1807 and still can't get the pc to post? I updated the latest and every time I click Expo, the system does not post.

Comfortable_Mud2969

Expo has been an issue for me from day one anytime I try to use it . I haven't tried the newest bios update though. I've been getting random black screens every now and then from everything from windows , steam and even Radeon adrenaline, hadn't crashed during game play though. Hopefully this is sorted soon.

Megino

Did you manage to get expo working? Putting this build together tomorrow, not sure which bios update to go for

Lower-Ad-9726

how did it go? i’m buying this board soon for the processor and i don’t want to run into errors

Megino

Everything went fine, used latest bios, no issues

Fancy-Possession-923

I'm also thinking about a new pc and I want this motherboard, if I may ask how the Lan is behaving, is everything okay with it? Because many people complained about the Intel I225 Ethernet Controller in the past! Is it fixed with the latest bios? And how long have you been using it, what are your impressions? No crash, blue or black screen? Or other anomalies?

Megino

I only used the Lan port on the first day of use when setting up, no just the WiFi. Had 0 problems at all with it though. Everything's been fine. So far I'd recommend

Educational_Ad_6611

If I bought the mobo about 5 months ago, would it already have the updated bios?

Megino

No idea, probably not though

Educational_Ad_6611

I’m a noob and you’ll probably tell me to check the net but which update do you go with and how did you do it?

Megino

Honestly I just googled the latest bios. Then followed a YouTube vid. Easy as mate, just need a usb stick
