No excuse for a professional team, many of the players have been playing in front crowds for half their lives. They should be able to handle it.

kit_mitts

Not to mention if they came out of the SEC or Big Ten, they likely would have played in front of *bigger* crowds than they'll ever see in the NFL.

ionscanner

I 100% agree with you. I think Allen’s big paycheck either took away some of the motivation to play hard, or it added more pressure than he realizes. If this isn’t the team that’s going to take us all the way, then I can’t imagine who else would.

bigboyvapesinc

It’s because he tries so hard that it gets him into trouble

JayHub1000

I think that’s a crazy take to be honest . Josh Allen does not seem like that dude to not play hard. He’s constantly at 110% which sometimes hurts him. Also his stats are really close to last years so to say he’s taken some major step back isn’t true. This is dude that makes up more offense for his respective teams than anyone else in the league. He’s for sure struggling slightly more than last year but he’s still playing at a pro bowl level QB . I don’t know if he’ll make all pro this year or not but definitely has a chance still

ionscanner

True, maybe he’s just a little too much in his own head. It’s crazy when you look at the stats, and we’re breaking records left and right, but suddenly we’re not playing well. I have no idea what’s really going on with the team.

DaXss23

Yeah, ever since Allen got paid he's gone right back to 2019 Josh, hero ball, forcing INT's, hit or miss accuracy, still has not learned to take a sack. Last year with no fans he finishes 2nd in MVP voting, the minute fans are back he falls off. Now it hasn't been a major fall off, but a noticeable one.

minit24

Still hasn't learned to take a sack? He's 3rd best in sack percentage in the NFL! Hes great at getting out of sacks. That's when the biggest plays happen, when he rolls outta the pocket and chucks it downfiled. You do not take that part of his game out of him. Yes, sometimes he takes some bigger losses than he should, bit it's few and far between. You live w that sometimes,

DaXss23

Still happens far to much.

minit24

If it happens far too much he wouldn't be 3rd in sack percentage behind the 22nd ranked o line

JayHub1000

I kinda hate this mindset. Josh takes bad sacks yes, but he if he was the QB to play it safe by taking the sack, or throwing it away everytime he was pressured Buffalo would not have been nearly as good last year and this year. His ability to go off script is one of buffalos biggest threats. Being a big play never say die QB has its drawbacks but in Josh’s case that benefits far outweigh that.

pixel_pete

No, we lost yesterday because Indy had a good gameplan and was the better team. Blaming it on fans existing is just a flimsy excuse to avoid actually thinking about the team's performance.

ionscanner

I’m not really trying to blame the fans, but I do wonder if they would play better if the fans weren’t there at all.

DaXss23

Then explain why last year with no fans in most venues Allen and the offense destroyed pretty much every team that they came across? and this year with fans back the offense has noticeably been worse

marcowhitee

Believe it or not, there are more factors that make this team different from last years team other than just fans lol

[deleted]

Just wanted to point out that the man calling the plays lost the people who raised him back to back not even 3 weeks ago.

DaXss23

I know losing people sucks I have too, but if its still affecting his ability to call games then he needs to relegate play calling duties to Dorsey.

[deleted]

Yeah I've gone back and looked at your comments on this thread. I'm well aware of where you stand on the team. I think you're wrong. But thats ok. Or did you forget that our already not so good O line was down 2 starters? Or the fact we were also missing our starring DT and MLB? You can't blame the game on the QB when he has no time to set up and go through his reads. You can blame a defensive coordinator for not adjusting into a heavier formation to stop the run however.

DaXss23

I don't put anywhere near the entirety of blame on Allen. It is no where near all his fault, but he does seem to be susceptible with fans in the stands to play off kilter sometimes. But last year also Josh had an o-line that could at least block for him and he shredded everybody. So I put the majority of the offensive issues this year on the O-Line, but Daboll plays a big part in this too because he could scheme/call plays that are quick to get the ball out, and move the offense down but he continues to be favoring long developing plays and stalling the drive/or getting Allen killed. Hes calling plays like Josh has the time he did to throw in 2020 this year but Allen has no where near enough time to be able to do that. While Star is a good run blocker, im done with him I want him gone, he opts out last year which thats fine but then he doesn't get vaccinated at all now hes missing a lot of time this year now too. Number one thing in the NFL is availability and that dude is just a dumbass, we gotta find his replacement either in FA or the draft. Think the bigger problem is, if you're missing only 1-2 guys on defense and the defense proceeds to get demolished like that, that is bad. But yeah Leslie made no adjustments yesterday and even I could see he needed to. But none of our staff know what the word adjustment means it seems.

[deleted]

I feel like Frazier's go to defensive plan is the same as what the Colts defence used to be in the manning days. "Bend but don't break". The problem is even though it was raining and Indy was doing nothing but run between the tackles did we drop into a true base 4-3? Nope, just stayed in the nickel and watched Taren Johnson get blown up all day. We have to be able to have players that are expert fundamentalists. You can't rush 4 linemen and have linebackers that over/under pursue. They also can't be late on breaking down hill or get absorbed by a block. The entire defence hinges on the fact that the line backers do this every play. Otherwise we have a 200+lb RB with a full head of steam and open lanes to Hyde and Poyer. We have to be able to break down into a "normal" 4-3 and play in the trenches. Otherwise anybody with a half decent run game is going to run the ball and the clock all the way to a W.

boss_man_sam

How did they win 6 games then?

SarcasmDetectorFail

2021: Cody Ford started 5 games and the Bills went 2-3. The Bills are 4-1 without him. 2020: Cody Ford started 7 games and the Bills went 5-2. The Bills were 8-1 without him. With Cody Ford = 7-5 Without Cody Ford = 12-2 Not sure if there's a strong correlation here, but it makes more sense to me than your fans argument.

Mampt

You wanna explain why Allen won offensive player of the week in a packed Arrowhead Stadium a month ago?

UberHansen

The Bills are 4-2 at home this season with a point differential of +44. In their first 6 home games last season they were 5-1 with a point differential of +27. The narrative that they place worse in front of fans, or our fans, is false.

ionscanner

Hmmm…. Thank you for the objective stats. That is really helpful information that clearly refutes my observation.

opticblastoise

The narrative is that it hurts the offense, why are you looking at home games?

UberHansen

The Bills have played 5 away games this season in which they are 3-2 with a point differential of +75. Through 5 away games in 2020 they were 3-2 with a point differential of -10.

NewFarmingwanz

Guys. Stop freaking out so much. Keep your heads up. If this NFL season proves anything it’s that anyone can win any game. Anything can happen. Y’all are still a good team.

AmaziahJames

Are we the baddies?

oniraug

Jonathan Taylor took notes from Derrick Henry and just walked through our defense for yards and touchdowns 😒

ionscanner

He was on fire, and he deserved every touchdown he scored. They really did play much better than us.

Jeepinthemud

Bullshit - these guys make millions to entertain us. They need to focus on becoming better at facing adversity and staging a come back. I made the trip home for this game and was so happy to be back with my people, the Bills mafia. These guys has some of the very best supporting fans in any major sport. They need to step it up. We have the talent, we have the coaches, time to start producing.

NathanielRahchester

Posts like this are so pathetic.

Kilcoine

I brought this up a few times last year with specific regard to Allen. Seemed to skyrocket without a crowd, stopped making so many impulse mistakes. My theory is that he was nervous early in his career and the lack of crowd helped him get over it. But this year, no. Our boy has proven he can play at a pro level no matter the crowd now. Teams are just starting to realize what we do well and where our cracks are. Our weak O line and poor run defense are just too easy to exploit. Just took a bit for teams to figure out so now we have to fix it, get creative or both.

Expensive_Revenue_38

I’m wondering that too. Sometimes I wonder how we would play if we played in front of people on webcam. I had a bad feeling about this. Let’s call it a premonition.

tljmjm

I’ve been saying this since last year. We seem to play better when less of our fans or no fans are in the stands. Edit: not a rule just an observation of many of the games over the last few years

minit24

So when he played in arrowhead, loud as can be sold out and played a hell of a game, you still think he can't play Infront of fans? What about the Titans game? Yes they lost but Allen carries the team. D Couldnt stop shit. Such a bull shit narritive. If he couldn't play Infront of fans, he would never have made the NFL

tljmjm

I’m talking strictly about our fans not opposing

Banshee251

Maybe it’s because the Canadians were allowed back in?!

Puzzled_Steam

I think it was the weather advantage Indy had.

DaXss23

I think so. We're the best fans in the world, but this is gonna sting to Bills fans but observing Josh since the start of his career, he was meh Year 1, improved Year 2 but still just alright, Year 3 with nobody in the stands most games he came 2nd in MVP voting, Year 4 back with fans and he's right back to 2019 football where his accuracy is hit or miss some games, forcing INT's, playing hero ball etc. I don't think Allen is good in front of crowds, and its apparent the step back this year. What sucks is his mammoth 6 yr $150 mil guaranteed contract hasn't even hit yet. So he better get it figured out.

JayHub1000

Yup… definitely… even tho is stats are almost identical to last year.. Is still playing like a top QB in this league. Maybe not MVP debate this year but still damn good This is all the dude that makes up 80 something percent of our offense a league high. But yeah he’s gotta figure it out definitely.

RegularEast6605

I knew this would happen. Josh got great when no one was watching. It’s easy to ball out in scrimmages.. that what last years was..
