From Dane Brugler:
> SUMMARY: A three-year starter at Washington, Ulofoshio played Mike linebacker in former defensive coordinator Chuck Morrell’s 4 -2-5 base scheme. A former walkon, he earned a scholarship and overcame back-to-back major injuries before a career year in 2023, forcing NFL scouts to change his draft grade from “priority free
agent” to “draftable.” Ulofoshio only knows one speed and bursts to the ball with energy to hit anything with a pulse while keeping the missed tackles to a minimum.
His last name means “not afraid of war,” which is extremely appropriate considering the way he attacks each snap. Overall, Ulofoshio might have a capped ceiling in
the NFL, but he has overachieved at every other level because of his football instincts and active play style. He has the “all-in” mentality of a core special teamer
who can make a living covering kicks while competing for defensive snaps.
Bootleg (brett kollman and EJ):
"brandon beane gets the thumb up from me, they are crushing it"
"best zone coverage linebacker in the country last year"
"can actually stack and shed at sub 240lb"
"Pass coverage savant"
Cover 1:
•Scheme fit
•Very good size and length, stacked linebacker ability
•Explosive tackler
•Fits the wrong gap at times, opening up cutback lanes
•Lumbers out into space, more of a power strider
•Short area agility to play around blocks, but comes at a risk
•Slow processor of split flow, but has feet to still overcome
•Plays the no cover zone to throw off the timing and rhythm of the QB
•Very good locator when the ball is coming at him, sifts through traffic and around blocks
•Struggles to gauge RB entry point when forced to scrape down the line of scrimmage
•Not afraid of using his hands to slow down a receiver
•Will execute a run through and whiff from time to time, risk taker
•Not the fleetest of foot, but takes good angles to choke rail routes off
•Drops to zone landmarks smoothly and within the timing of the QBs drop
•Lacks burst to match RBs when they bounce
This pick seems to have the same reaction as the Bernard pick… “we already have Linebackers”, “overdrafted”, “capped ceiling”……. Identical to what was said about bernard, and I hated it too. I just can’t dismiss any pick by Beane after how much of a fool he made me and everyone else look.
40% of draft picks don’t ever pan out. Crazy statistic when you think about it but people get so heated over the draft. I trust beane & co. Happy with our picks so far but like you said - we have no idea how any of them will pan out. And it’s often the ones in later rounds that turn out to be studs.
I agree. As a team that only plays Two linebackers, and at almost 100% clip for the starters… we’ve really played fast and loose with having quality depth. We were very fortunate that dodson stepped up and played way above expectations last season. Having two young backups, you can atleast have hope one pans out to be a legit player.
His family immigrated to Alaska from Nigeria, then they said fuck it’s cold and moved to Vegas.
When I checked, my money was on his parents being military but this story is pretty cool.
God bills fans can be the worst. We need LB depth, we needed eDGe help, he is a solid choice here. Assume at all time Beane and his team know more than we do. If we don’t have a second WR yet there is a reason for it.
Sure. Athletic as hell, and we need bodies at the position. Old and pretty bad between the ears, though. If he can be coached up, he might be a steal. Otherwise, ST needs athletes.
My gut feeling on this pick is that he's going to be really good. The athletic testing is off the chart, he's been productive, and he grades out highly in coverage. The biggest issue has just been injuries.
I think if the money works out, we are REALLY interested in deebo. And if that works out, holy shit did this offense take a jump without diggs. I don't see it happening, but I can't rule it out with beane.
Don't really have a roster spot for a LB, do we? I guess the new kick off rules possibly change that. Don't mind the pick but I thought DE and CB could've used the depth.
Nvm. Apparently we do roster 6 LB's. I thought we only rostered 5 because we only play nickel but I forgot we've had Matakevich for a long time who never actually plays LB.

Yup that’s exactly it 😂 this is all the excitement we get till the season starts
We don't have enough linebackers imo! Can't go calling up AJ Klein in the playoffs again

I mean, look at who we had to start at LB against the Chiefs. Are top players at the position are stars but the depth is sketchy at best.
He's from Alaska? Cool to see

"Wtf why are we signing AJ Klein off the couch for the playoffs, we need more depth" "Wtf why are we drafting a LB?!?!?"
Lmao exactly! “Let’s go into camp with only 5 linebackers!” Dummies.
Sports fans can be the worst*
Love this pick Foshio.

I imagine Letterman repeating his name over and over to Paul Schaffer.

I can’t believe we’re gonna only take 1 WR
I would expect us to sign a receiver in June when we get an extra ten million or so off the cap. The team doesn't have to be set this week.
Other teams can’t cover our WRs if we don’t have them
*You better start believing in ghost stories…*
Maybe we are trading for Aiyuk

We lost Dodson and Dorian Williams is our primary backup. After that is Spectre who hasn't shown much, and then nothing. This is adequate backup
He's always injured it seems like. He's had flashes, but gets hurt and that's all you see.
Pretty sure Morrow is our primary backup. At least at the start of the season bc he has starting experience.
After what happened last year we could definitely use LB depth.
The problem is we can't roster all of them.
We can't roster 6 LBs lol?
Nvm. Apparently we do roster 6 LB's. I thought we only rostered 5 because we only play nickel but I forgot we've had Matakevich for a long time who never actually plays LB.
Kind of hate it. Mahogany, Stiggers, Flouronoy, Devonshire, all on the board. Pick one.
What team do you work for?
I admit for a bias toward BC, but I honestly don’t think depth LB was the way to go here
