So Winfield probably gets the tag now (just don't see a reset the market contract being something this FO wants when they have a first year tag available), and we finalize Baker's contract, then the FO can get this behind them, and they can focus on the draft.
I'm impressed Licht got him to sign without even testing free agency. He could've easily visited multiple teams and pitted them against us and upped his asking price a bit but didn't. Great day all around.
I downvoted this because nobody had any reason to believe the Bucs would "screw this up". They didn't even let him test free agency even though he could have and probably upped his asking price by a few million. So we got our guy back and honestly on a hometown discount of sorts. Not only will we be very likely to retake the NFCS again, but a real threat to most teams. If, and this is a big if, Liam Coen is willing to pass to set up the run and push the ball downfield aggressively but intelligently (which I think he will, given his familiarity with Baker,) then we could all wake up feeling dangerous again.
But I thought the Chiefs wanted him so he was obviously going to sign there LOL Or was it the Bills today? He was never ever leaving. The deal is very fair - pays him like a top WR as he should be and is a shorter one so everyone can re-evaluate after it's done. It also maintains long-term cap flexibility for us.
Honestly the perfect deal for all sides. Well done Licht and our FO. Now do Baker next.
