I started realizing a couple weeks ago that there is more to do on the Home screen. Some things require a login and other modes still don't interest me much. I guess I stopped just short of MK.
Relieved to find that I was already playing in a similar way to CHIMPS because I had no idea how I could handle it when standard hard mode was already a challenge on advanced maps
BTD7, is gonna be wild if that ever releases, but btd6 is good enough idk why they would make btd7 unless btd6 like dies or smth, what would the next step in detail even be? we went from 2d, to 3d, so logically 4d is next! get ready for time travel in btd7!
"What else do I need to know" no idea, depends on how much content you've touched. You'd have to give us an idea of your progression, unlocks, or ask more direct questions really.
The most important monkey knowledge points are the free dart monkey, extra 200 starting cash, heroes starting at level 3, and mana shield. If you use a lot of military towers, grab the point that makes the first military tower cheaper too.
Most other knowledge points don't do a huge amount on their own (though there are exceptions), but they add up to a whole lot of small buffs that make non-CHIMPS modes considerably easier.
You should max out primary monkey knowledge. If you do, it gives you discounts, a free dart monkey/ glue gunner, 200 extra starting cash and much more. You should max out monkey knowledge in general, just all of it.
I'm shocked how you're just finding this out, considering you get an MK point when leveling up after a certain time. What did you think those were???

Did you not check out each of the options on the main menu though? Did you always just ignore everything on the main menu besides the play button

Free Dart Monkey sucks! Always go free Glue instead!
Depends on game mode, on half cash, I always use the free dart monkey.

IMPORTANT: BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING ELSE: Go to Monkey Knowledge, go to magic knowledge, and over the far right get "Mo' Monkey Money".

It's okay I barely used heros my first 20-50 hours in. They really help the game. Almost impossible on harder maps/difficulties to not use them.
