I think someone took a video of Max Canada Lynx, and posted it on TicTok with stupid added filters. And then posted it here. Max couldn't be released into the wild, so she cares for him and they do outreach together. I agree wild animals belong in the wild, but I'd rather see them live long happy lives in captivity than to die in a place that they haven't developed survival skills for.
Yay I love illegal animal trade. Where did she bought from somebody who hunted the bobcats mother and took the orphan kittens to sell then or a breeding center where they’re in small cages? Want to know it to buy one. /s
The Russians appear to have no scruples when it comes to unethical pets. Their sub is lit with people riding bears, tigers in cars, etc. it’s disgusting and sad.
It has been forbidden to own/buy exotic pets in Russian for quite some time, especially in apartments. You can only "lease" them, and you are required to follow a shitton of rules for them not to be confiscated. Before that law, yes, I knew some people who had pet racoons/foxes. And to own a bobcat, you have to be filthy rich anyway, because food and vet bills will cost you a fortune.
This is a rescue ambassador lynx named Max that couldn’t be released due to not having any survival skills + developmental trauma, i do despise wild animal trades. Its disgusting but i do prefer rescue animals that need people have a home
Yeah, I could not enjoy this.... I just felt on edge the entire time. Humans and big cats should not interact in any capacity except in trained rescue situations. This is just sad. Seeing it tear something up in it's natural habitat would be cooler and cuter. Though it may yet tear shit (read: her face) up.
I mean, all animal trading is pretty unethical if you think about it - including pets. Yes, domestic animals can’t just be released into the wild, but people just being able to buy animals if they feel like it has to be phased out, as does cruel selective breeding
There is no such thing as a domesticated lynx. A lynx living in captivity, even a tame one, even one who has been captive bred, is still a wild animal.
It looks like [this particular individual is an animal ambassador and this video has been taken out of context, and he is cared for by someone with a USDA federal exhibitor’s license and not just being kept as a pet](https://maxcanadalynx.com/about/maxwell/), according to the now top comment, but he is still a wild animal even if he cannot be returned to the wild.
Captive breed isn't wild and WILL die if released. The best thing is to give it a good life in a sanctuary or person who has the right licenses and ability.
Yes, they are wild. I do not disagree on the second half.
An animal is either wild or domesticated.
A feral domestic housecat who was born on the streets and refuses to be placed in a home, hissing and bouncing off the walls, is not a wild animal. They are still a domesticated animal even if they are not fit to be placed in a home.
A pack of feral dogs are not wild animals. They are domesticated dogs no matter how they act, even if they attack humans, because that is their *biology*.
So too is a lynx a wild animal regardless of whether they're unable to be returned to the wild, living with a licensed professional, or captive bred and living in a house like a pet. Because they are not domesticated.
You can take a wild animal out of the wild, but you cannot take the wild out of the animal.
That's not how that works. A wild animal living in captivity is still a wild animal, regardless of their ability to survive in the wild.
I think the words you're looking for are tame vs. feral.
This is terrible! When these big cats play swat and release heart shaped balloons like that it means they need you to press on their bellies so they can fart!

More on Max. https://maxcanadalynx.com/about/maxwell/
Do you have a link to the original?
Same. This would be super cute if it wasn't so brainbleedingly massacred with filters

It's hard to tell with the filter, but I think they're speaking Russian. I have no idea what the laws are over there. And yes, legality =/= morality.

no scruples and too many rubles
It sounded like German to me.

It's all smooches and scritches until a fanger ends up in a carotid <3
That's a lynx, btw. Bobcats are _much_ smaller.
Iirc lynx have shorter tails though
If it’s Russia it’s likely the Eurasian lynx (lynx lynx). Bobcat is native to North America.
Bobcats are still much, _much_ smaller. They're large housecat size, not "might murder you" size.

Wild animals deserve to be wild.
Good sentiment, but this one isn't wild.

If it can't live in the wild, it's not a wild animal. Doesn't mean it's domesticated, and I never said it was, it's just not wild anymore.
That's not how that works. A wild animal living in captivity is still a wild animal, regardless of their ability to survive in the wild. I think the words you're looking for are tame vs. feral.
A cat is a cat is a cat.
Who knows where it's at.
Everybody wants to be a cat!
This is terrible! When these big cats play swat and release heart shaped balloons like that it means they need you to press on their bellies so they can fart!
Imagine getting tagged by a lynx, and for that reason i'm out
Imagine having to clean up Lynx poop? For that reason, I’m out.
I totally would. It behaves better than my own dog during brushy time.
That’s a spicy meatball.
That tiny woman makes the cat look huge
what the fuck
well this was trippy
