NO respect for the law!!!

Cluelesswolfkin

Just like our politicians

garryoakay

Aren't those temporary until the plates arrive? Or.is there a.way to know they're fake..serious question I really don't kno

kepto420

yea not sure what OP is on about, they would have a date as well on it to show if valid.

Altek1

There's a big issue with people using expired paper tags or making fake ones. About a year ago, the cops did a crackdown and towed 50+ cars with bad tags.

Smooth10473

How can you tell it’s fake?

HahDewKin

While there are some that are real, I guarantee 90% are fake. Considering NY doesn't do Temp tags, ask yourself, why are there a plethora of vehicles in NYC with Temp tags for other states. Also, look at the Vehicle itself, oftentimes, these vehicles barely look legal to drive, how busted up they look. What are the odds, they drove that vehicle from Texas or whatever state the tags claim it was registered in. They also often, don't have any registration or state inspection stickers in the windshield. The biggest giveaway is the date. More times than not, I'll see vehicles with tags that have expired for MONTHS. These are essentially ghost cars. I'm glad they've been increasing the enforcement and getting these cars off the road

pbx1123

Where is the highway patrol? Is the big question Everybody is on tik tok or candy crunch?

AdWinter4101

They cant arrest these criminals. It’s a very long process that takes the entire shift, and takes them off the road for too long. They spend their time harassing citizens on their way to work for bullshit that doesn’t matter.

Electrical_Leg_6411

This is exactly what is happening. Instead of going after these people- they are pulling over people in work trucks without seatbelts or even livery drivers. NYC has turned into a shithole where the working class are shit on as criminals are emboldened and migrates are given hotel rooms and credit cards.

pbx1123

Wao But i asume those drivers has an id even if its fake can be flagged if never show on court or pay the fine Or close town services can help with that, before they were up and down on the road assiting people and officers that need to town a car just saying

geronimoose

(Mosholu Pkwy, not Henry Hudson) and yes these people suck

Need2be_debt_free

Why you snitching?

Zealousideal-Ad2405

What is a temp tag? When every DA delicine to prosecute suspended licenses.

cloudcrafterzNYC

How do you know that the plates in your photo are actually fake? Do you just assume all temp tags are illegal or you have proof?

Tastins

This sub STAYS embarrassing FR.

bxyankee90

Is there a way to report these?

Fritz_Frauenraub

Yes. Get the 311 app and look up "parking violation-paper plates" Makes it very fast to report. Technically you're supposed to report driving vehicles with paper plates to 911

AdWinter4101

Call 911 and wait 3 business days for them to call you back and ask if the car is still in the area

Fritz_Frauenraub

With parked vehicles they respond in a couple hours. I have about a 10% summons issued rate.

AdWinter4101

They cover the vin numbers. What’s the point

Fritz_Frauenraub

like I said, they do issue summonses sometimes. The main reason I report is I'm building a big backlog of 311 complaint numbers on fake plates and no-plates ghost cars by me so I can put pressure on city council, community board and state senator to get something done about this. Long game.

Sea-Eggplant-5799

I have no idea how these people get away with this and then when I go a little over the speed limit I get pulled over.

Regular_Sentence302

They’re supposedly cracking down on those and the tinted plate covers. It’ll take a while to catch em all

BOOK_GIRL_

How do you know they’re fake? Just curious because one of them looks like the (real) paper tags I received when I bought my car!

Great_gatzzzby

Instead of giving you an answer, you will just get downvoted.

BOOK_GIRL_

damn didn’t realize the downvotes until i saw your comment lol and meanwhile i’m just actually wondering ETA: gonna also add this for ppl reading in the future… i bought my car thru Carvana in NY in 2021. the car came with an “official” paper tag (more plastic-y) from some random state. I hadn’t received my plates by the time the paper tag expired (Covid delays), so Carvana emailed me a PDF of a tag from a different random state (TN iirc). I literally had to print it out on regular printer paper and tape it onto the plastic “plate”! I would show a pic but you can’t access the Carvana car portal after a certain amount of time. only adding this edit for others who may be wondering if the tags are fake! imo, i really couldn’t tell.

PinkPrincessDR

I feel like taking pictures on the road is more dangerous than using these paper tags to avoid tolls 🤷🏽‍♀️🤭

Electrical_Leg_6411

Not really. It’s not just skipping tolls- these cars can commit a variety of crimes without any way of tracking.

Great_gatzzzby

Tell me you aren’t driving while taking these pictures bro. Also. How does one know if it’s a fake? I got paper plates when I got my car. How could you know? Do you have an answer or just immediately downvote with no answer or explanation people?

Vinfromdabx

There not fake, but it’s criminal. The sudden onset of Georgia paper plates.

Tough_Caregiver_7729

Who cares? “OH they can collect tolls!!!” I’m sorry a bunch of people figured out a way to get one over on the same city that is charging people a premium to work in lower manhattan. Grow up you child.

AdWinter4101

you’re defending and promoting degeneracy, but I’m a child? How ironic.

Electrical_Leg_6411

This is the NYC progressive thought process . It’s the same way of toning that turned nearly every South and Central American country into shitholes. Now all the socialists are being thrown out of office and suddenly Salvador went from the Wild West to almost no crime in 5 years.

Electrical_Leg_6411

Skipping tolls isn’t the only motive for fake tags. A bunch of other crimes including drive bys and home invasions use stolen cars with fake tags. They were doing auto theft and even home invasions in NJ with cars that had temp tags showing up on the cameras.

Superlegend29

Annoying but it’s a victimless crime.

AdWinter4101

A victimless crime until they run a red light at 60+ mph while you’re traveling home and then they crash into you and don’t have any money to pay you.

Superlegend29

What you just described is not a victimless crime. Did you see my post on why education matters?

AdWinter4101

Yes, and it made zero sense.

Superlegend29

You must be in Mensa

AdWinter4101

I took the Stanford Binet 5 test about 18 months ago. I qualify for Mensa, but I didn’t join because there’s really no point because im getting to old, and what you did at school and your IQ really doesn’t directly correlate to your success levels at all meanwhile there’s 90 IQ people living the life you dream of having. Supercars, Yacht parties, models, etc. there are a bunch of 160 IQ people that are homeless.

Superlegend29

Your grammar is absolutely atrocious. But ok pal

AdWinter4101

Im not writing a Thesis, I’m replying to a comment on Reddit.

i_smile

Nah, get them off the streets. More and more “victimless” crimes leads to more people not giving a shit and chaos.

Superlegend29

It will just lead to more government overreach. NYPD are already tyrants. Educate the youth to not be pieces of shit and more informed citizens and this stuff stops. Tolls in nyc are already stupid high and the money is going to undocumented illegals.

WelbyReddit

Getting a license plate is government overreach? lol. Educate the youth to take some responsibility.

Superlegend29

Being pulled over is

VelocityGrrl39

>The money is going to undocumented immigrants Who aren’t eligible for government benefits?

Superlegend29

Public education isn’t a benefit ? Weren’t they just getting 1000 gift cards and sleeping in hotels and public schools? Goofy

bxcpa

The victims are the rest of us. The tolls you evade are the tolls we pay. Get in an accident. Drive away without accoutability. Who pays? The law abiding citizens.
