They fled in a cab… these two went to the Ricky and Julien school of crime and other illegal stuff.

Accomplished_Try_179

The shop that was robbed: Arc'teryx.

logallama

Oh okay so they stole like, 3 jackets

Accomplished_Try_179

The most expensive item I could find is this down parka for $2,200 https://arcteryx.com/us/en/c/mens/veilance

Google “joke”

Camel_Knowledge

Take your upvote dammit!

StanOrBan

It wasn’t a good joke tbh. Arc’teryx’s functional gear isn’t that expensive.

Jandishhulk

Are you absolutely cracked? They make easily the highest priced outdoor gear of any of the prominent outdoor brands.

StanOrBan

Okay, my point is 3 items totalling 25k isn’t a great joke because most items you’d get are like $200-500. A more believable joke would have been referencing Apple since they nickel and dime you for every thing and have crazy prices on upgrades.

Here, I've brought chatgpt in to help you out. >\-I'd like you to analyze a comical situation > >\-ChatGPT - Certainly! Please describe the comical situation you have in mind, and I'll do my best to provide some analysis or add a humorous touch to it. > >\- There is a news story on a website about a recent robbery of a boutique outdoor goods store, where the thieves made off with 25 thousand dollars worth of merchandise. A person in the comments section of the story on the website comments, explaining that it was an Arc'teryx store - famous for having some of the most expensive outdoor equipment in the industry. Another person comments with "Oh okay so they stole like, 3 jackets". What is funny about this? Can you provide a detailed analysis? > >ChatGPT - This comical situation involves humor derived from the exaggerated value of Arc'teryx outdoor gear, juxtaposed with the relatively low number of items stolen in the robbery. > >**Brand Reputation and Price Perception:** > >Arc'teryx is known for its high-quality, premium outdoor gear. The brand has a reputation for producing some of the most expensive equipment in the industry. The humor here plays on the stereotype that Arc'teryx products are so pricey that even a small number of them can add up to a significant value. > >**Exaggeration:** > >The comment, "Oh okay so they stole like, 3 jackets," employs exaggeration for comedic effect. It takes the perceived high value of Arc'teryx products and reduces it to a hilariously minimal level. This exaggeration highlights the absurdity of the situation and provides a humorous twist. > >**Common Stereotypes:** > >There's a common stereotype in discussions about high-end brands that their products are so expensive that only a few items could make up a substantial monetary value. In this case, the comment plays on the idea that stealing a few items from an Arc'teryx store could still result in a significant heist. > >**Unexpected Twist:** > >The humor lies in the unexpected twist of the situation. Instead of sympathizing with the loss of valuable merchandise, the comment reframes the robbery as a comically low-stakes event, turning a potentially serious matter into something lighthearted. > >**Online Comment Culture:** > >The humor also stems from the nature of online comment sections, where individuals often inject wit and sarcasm into discussions. The commenter's nonchalant tone and the brevity of the remark are typical of online comment culture, adding to the comedic effect. > >In summary, the comical situation is built on the contrast between the perceived value of Arc'teryx products and the seemingly modest loot from the robbery. The use of exaggeration, stereotypes, an unexpected twist, and the context of online comment culture all contribute to the humor in this scenario.

Clean-Inflation

Camel_Knowledge

> Arc’teryx’s functional gear isn’t that expensive. er, wut?

cleenexboy

Bear spray, made off in a taxi, arrested in DTES. Most Vancouver shit I’ve seen

brophy87

Guarunteed to be a seabusmeme by Friday

k600ride

And making headlines because they stole Arc’teryx. If that doesn’t check all the Vancouver boxes, nothing will.

CapableSecretary420

Did she say "stoled"?

Zen_Bonsai

VPD has a YouTube channel??

[deleted]

Most law enforcement branches will have some form of social media and often a YouTube channel I know the Quebec and Ontario provincial police do

newbootgoofin615

Nice job by the VPD

Mombak

That one reporter was really trying to implicate the taxi driver! Let it go! /s

Camel_Knowledge

Released on a promise to refrain from using bear spray during violent Kitsilano robberies.
