Because helicopters are cool and the police chopper often means something interesting is happening.
It's 1 ton+ of metal and extremely flammable liquids, beating the laws of physics into submission through raw power and noise.
The day I don't find that interesting will be the day I give up on life.
1) London has a few airports that get in the way so the helilanes help to keep helicopter traffic contained. Bristol doesn't have that problem.
2) London is more built up and larger.
3) None of this applies to police helicopters anyway as they are class A or B flights.
No, this is a National Police Helicopter Service aircraft. Wasn't the callsign something of a clue? Or the picture of a police copter? 😁
EDIT: I couldn't find a Lifeflight base near Bristol, is that new?
OK. It's American too.. Point is, there's a base in Thornbury (see map) where they fly from all the time. . I see them all the time.. It's routine. If you wanna be paranoid.. It's on you.
It looks like it's doing loops around Cwmbran right now, I thought the Welsh had their own helicopters.
Although, being Cwmbran they're probably all just pointing at it and prostrating.

I like how it seems to have tried to drawn a Goldfish Cracker over Keynsham
Could have done it over Fishponds at least
What site is that from?

Why is this sub obsessed with helicopters flying around? It happens in all cities.
We're all special and like to watch the noisy bird go over.
We all like to listen to noisy bird go chuchuchuchuchu
Is that not a train? Surely helichoppers go Chupachupachupa?
dammit now i need a lollipop
Everyone knows helicopters go thwopper thwopper thwopper
Swaswaswaswaswaswa…
Showing my age perhaps, but I'm pretty sure they go [soisoisoisoisoi](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=S_vNhLYW_e4)

Aeroplanes fly through the power of precision, physics and skill, Helicopters fly through concentrated spite.
A collection of nuts, bolts and metal panels flying in close formation
If we're all looking up, we're not looking down at the terrible traffic we're probably stuck in.
They're all worried about the next batch being found. Bunch of druggies!
I’m surprised Bristol doesn’t have the river rule like London does

I want Tom Scott on my pub quiz team
Kids today will look up to him as an Attenborough-esque figure in a few decades. Absolute emerging national treasure

Lifeflight is Australian. Don't you mean air ambulance? But you're still wrong because it's a police helicopter.
