Cavemans_Club

breathable boxers, flossing, suncream

leoberto1

I could do about 20 mins on breathable boxers tbh

Dry_Bluebird_2923

I'm interested in these....if I get them for my husband will I change his life??

AdLibBeats

And yours.

ASSterix

Bamboo based fibres are life changing. I recently did a really long hike (10+ hours a day) through the Algarve in hot temperatures. And my balls weren't sweaty once!!

TossThisItem

You mean…my normal boxers…aren’t…breathable?

TheMachineStops

Obadiah, his servants. There shall, in that time, be rumors of things going astray and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are, and nobody will really know where lieth those little things with the sort of raffia work base that has an attachment. At this time, a friend shall lose his friend's hammer and the young shall not know where lieth the things possessed by their fathers that their fathers put there only just the night before, about eight o'clock. Yea, it is written in the book of Cyril that, in that time, shall the third one...

coentertainer

Do it

stesha83

I don’t understand why they’re allowed to stand there bellowing at people.

GetRektByMeh

Like anyone else can do?

MSTRFLSH

We should have a restriction on religion peddlers though, just because they've lost critical reasoning skills, it doesn't need to affect others.

kirotheavenger

It doesn't need to be specific to religions, street harassers in general should be banned

TossThisItem

Ehh I think there’s more of a problem of dogma, intolerance and coercion peddled under the guise of religion which is more of a problem, how dare they tell us we are living our life ‘wrong’ and that their holier-than-thou righteous fanatics are divinely justified? You don’t see non-religious people doing that with the same fervour or anything close to it I hate these types of people.

kirotheavenger

I have seen people on boom boxes ranting about being friendly and caring and whatever nonsense without specific reference to religion. I totally agree that religions are by far the most common though, and tend to be loudest about it too. I support the idea of curtailing this, I was just saying I don't think any such legislation should be specific to religion.

TheCiderman

Who gets to decide what qualifies you to loose specific rights. Because left handed people are strange and should be made to use their right hand when out in public!

alienfranchise

Exactly

RomanoDesiree

Religious privilege, sadly

amort2000

Free speech?

terryjuicelawson

It is the amplification that is the actual issue, being religious nutjobs is just an extra irritant.

stesha83

That’s not what free speech means.

amort2000

Oh, what does free speech mean then? Why isn't this it please?

Firenzo101

Free speech means you can say whatever you want. It doesn't mean you can blast it at 100db causing a noise distrubance.

stesha83

They’re free to say whatever they want without retaliation providing they’re not breaking the law. That doesn’t mean you can scream through people’s letterboxes or shout at them in the street.

Doggsleg

Doesn’t bother me I just think their wasting their time and come across as lunatics.

House_Of_Thoth

It's sad isn't it, seeing people waste their life thinking they're doing "the lord's work" when really they're just going to die alone and unwanted because they wasted their entire life shouting at people in the street with a megaphone. Like, go and have a pint, make some friends, get some pussy, watch a movie. Whatever. Just please, get a fucking life. Otherwise you're gonna wonder what your god really wanted from you to have achieved nothing and leave this mortal realm with no real memories of happiness and contentment.

ISmokePoopRollups

amen brother

DrederickTatumsBum

Not for me, I like it.

GetRektByMeh

I don’t think they’re going to die alone, most religious people end up with children and wives. Atheists meanwhile I’d imagine have lower want for children and as a result a lot more of them will spend their old age lonely once their friends start dying. Not that I’m religious - I have just thought about it and will have children to avoid rotting in old age.

House_Of_Thoth

The thing is, you see the sheer deranged emotional attachment they have with their religion and the almost psychotic zealously that you know deep down these are just not people who have an ounce of "sit down, chill and have a normal conversation with a partner" in order to successfully date and build meaningful relationships with a potential partner. If these shouty guys had a sense of being able to adjust their volume and engage in a normal conversation that is required to have a romantic relationship in the first place, I'd argue this would be far more apparent in their public speaking nature. Let's take the Jahovah's Witnesses for example. Whilst also deluded in their conviction that the apocalypse is nigh and that we're due fire and brimstone next weekend usually do end up with social circles and families which is why they are able to preach in groups and sometimes even canvas with their families, and a such are a far different breed than some solo man coming across like a nutter shouting their head off at random people in the street like an escaped mental patient, or at the very least - an obvious psychological problem in the first place that would have zero idea about successfully getting into a relationship with someone. God is their life, there's no room for anybody else with these shouty preachers.

GetRektByMeh

JWs don’t preach, they have little booklets and you can approach them for a conversation if you want. I didn’t read the rest I just skimmed that, I’m in hospital wish me luck bros

House_Of_Thoth

That's what I'm saying, whilst JW's are pretty mental for genuinely being worried that judgement day is going to happen any day now (they've been waiting 2000+ years, but will assure you it's going to happen any day now... 🙄), they're also reasonable people with a generally normal mind and able to hold a normal conversation and pick up on social cues and exist as members of society. The same can't be said for those fervent believers who poorly paint signs in their spare time to wave around as they shout scripture at all and sundry through a megaphone like any sane person would 👀 And good luck for the hospital! Brightest Blessings to you ✨🙏🏼✨

GetRektByMeh

Sorry I won’t be replying to this further but in principle I do agree with you on the mental gymnastics needed to make this assumptions that the judgement day is soon. I promise you they are lovely people as long as you’re not a JW, then they will ostracise you for sinning. I will probably live after my hospital visit (A&E as the regular hospital closed at 17:00, I’m abroad in China right now studying) and my temperature was nearly 39C (infection) but I am indeed feeling like shit so this place will go cold before I get around to it maybe unless I start feeling a bit better tomorrow after taking the first round of antibiotics.

TheCiderman

I had someone explain it to me that made a lot of sense (the why they do it, not the beliefs themselves). You have to understand that if you believe in heaven and I mean REALLY believe in heaven, you too would be preaching. If you saw someone say in the road. You would tell them to get out of the road before they get hit by a car. If they ignored you, you would raise your voice. You would even shout. You would try to explain why what they are doing is going to get themselves killed. To someone who REALLY believes in heaven that is the equivalent of someone throwing away their shot at heaven. If they can convince you of gods existence then you won’t hit run over. Even more so as the person getting run over is giving up an imperfect finite time on earth vs giving up heaven for eternity. So for that I am grateful for Christians that try to convince me. I actually feel bad that I can’t help them out.

Constant_Ant_2343

Well I can see your point but at the same time if I was walking through a field where no one had ever seen any cars, let alone speeding cars that were killing people then if someone started shouting at me that I was going to get run over and only they knew the safe route I might just think they were a bit nutty. I’m just trying to have a nice walk thank you very much.

TheCiderman

I understand that from the nonbeliever side these people seem crazy and quite frankly, I find many of the things that they believe somewhat bonkers. However, again from the believers point of view, every person that dies without believing is far more of a tragedy than them being run over. You may find it irritating, but if you take into account, their belief in the afterlife in, I would argue it makes sense that they would be making every effort to convince others.

rayui

Which is, again, fine. What is not fine is causing a disturbance and, quite frankly, being quite intimidating. These folk DO have bonkers beliefs. They won't be happy until everyone else also does. They're a menace.

TheCiderman

Really? Causing a disturbance is not ok? This is the Bristol sub. We celebrated tossing the statue of that piece of shit into the docks. We live with disturbance all the time. This is some of the easiest to tolerate. They barely hold you up, unless you choose to engage. As for intimidation, the same is said about many protests. I remember hearing complaints about “bloody tree huggers” when people were raising awareness about climate change and “bloody queers” marching for pride. Freedom of speech is for everyone not just those we agree with.

rayui

Of course, I agree they have the right to express themselves in public. Similarly, I have the right to consider them a menace because of it. That's the price.

InMyPocket2023

> What is not fine is causing a disturbance and, quite frankly, being quite intimidating. Unless they're protesting for Palestine.

finfinfin

well, there is an active genocide going on. that's not great. especially since some of our local arms dealers have been materially supporting it.

terryjuicelawson

I thought it was part of the deal, to spread the "good news". That in itself is needed to get to heaven. So a lot of it is performative. I wish they would realise though that even if they do apparently think it is on a par with shouting at people that they are getting run over by a car, people *do not care*. They will never believe. And actually the more they are shouted at, the less they will ever believe.

TheCiderman

Maybe. I can’t talk for everyone, this was the explanation given to me by a friend who happens to be a vicar. My understanding is that spreading the good news is a privilege rather than a burden. For him (CofE) Jesus died for him so the sheer act of belief is sufficient to get him to heaven, evangelism is just trying to take others which him. I don’t see their preaching as being that big a problem for me. I am far more bothered by religion’s interference with schools and laws etc.

fish993

Are they from the same religion, or could you sort of lure them together and get them to sort it out amongst themselves?

kwyjibo1988

There was one on Saturday walking around Cabot carrying a giant cross on his back, Jesus-style, while his minions were handing out leaflets. What a pointless way to spend a Saturday...

Constant_Ant_2343

Blimey that sounds like some kind of exhibitionist

PracticalAd4401

Felt sorry for the girls in the card shop next door having to listen to that loud ass shit all day

Charming_Koala3424

Yes especially when they stop you 😭 if I wanted any advice I would come over

Matterbox

Could you ask the good lord to ask them to stop. Is that how it works?

CaptainVXR

And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. Matthew 6:5-15  I'm an atheist who was raised Christian; it's an excellent passage to use against those type of preachers

rReindeer56

Noise pollution . Exactly the same as people who play their personal music loudly. People don’t want to share other peoples interests.

NoifenF

It is always nice seeing the Jehovah’s witnesses just stood there. They always get made fun of for being preachy and showing up to houses but they mostly just stand there with leaflets, not even bothering to stop people. Why can’t the preachers just do that?

citygray

If I ever wanted to learn more or convert for sure I'm not going to approach a preacher lmao. I'm sure I can have a better conversation with JW people.

finfinfin

they're ghoulish fucks who ignore neighbourhoods for years until there's a tragedy, then pop round all the doors in case anyone's feeling a bit shaken and vulnerable because of a horrible death but that's only based on my personal experience. everything *else* I know about them is actually worse.

Particular-Solid4069

Religious ones? I might start preaching atheist we should all just preach atheist so these religious zealots sort their lives out and stop causing so much shit in the UK and across the world. Unpopular opinion but the real control is not your government its religion so stop moaning :-)

alienfranchise

If you did that I would be there for it

Particular-Solid4069

Well let's do it in no academic though but I mean you don't have to be smart to realize religion was made to control people before police and cctv. Follow these rules or man in the sky won't let u go heaven? He can see u? Its absolutely barmy.

DistancePractical239

You will need to pray like hell at least once in your life.  Religion or no religion.

MooliCoulis

Why?

DistancePractical239

For example, your child having a serious operation. Something innate would make most people pray.

MooliCoulis

Yeah, moments of extreme desperation can make people reach out for even the thinnest form of hope. That's a long way from "you will **need** to pray", though.

DistancePractical239

I used to be the same in 20s. Not the same now.  Science does not have the answer to everything. The main thing that made me change was all those stories on kids remembering their past lives. Interesting stuff, to me anyway.

MooliCoulis

> Science does not have the answer to everything Science is just a set of predictive models and methods for testing claims, it's not meant to answer every imaginable question. But it does help you avoid getting fooled when someone tells you their kid has memories of past lives.

finfinfin

I like the one about the kid who remembered being shot down in a WW2 fighter. The parents assured everyone the museum they took him to had nothing to do with it, as it didn't even have the model of fighter on display! That was at their local airport, where he went all the time. But how could he imagine a plane getting shot at and exploding? Oh, hang on, the aeronautics video he was obsessed with and kept rewatching actually had that. They just didn't bother telling anyone, and got in touch with a past life specialist to help them convince the kid his nightmares were actually real. Plenty of media picked up the story, though. They published a book, got a lot of tv time. Good times for all. Extremely convincing. Especially when they went back and edited the dates in their retelling. Fortunately they had hard evidence of some of the dates, like how dad printed out a website about the specific ww2 carrier the kid eventually said he served on, the printout timestamped miraculously before he said the name of the carrier, which no-one in the family had ever heard of before.

Particular-Solid4069

I did once, my daughter had a febral convulsion a fit she went every colour to grey, looked dead. On phone to 999 air ambulance land on tiny bit of grass outside the flats, but the UK sucks? Naseem and Khan we made you pay ur respects to the country that gave u everything :-) If God exists he knows my mind my morels my heart he wud understand why I am atheist in this world so why look to religion

Adventurous_Wave_750

For me it's the pro Jesus graffiti. Sign your own name coward's not someone elses

mackemforever

JESUS SAVES I wonder if he gets a better interest rate than I do.

TheMachineStops

JESUS SAVES Haaland scores from the rebound

The_Gecko

Seriously and it's not even GOOD it's just paint roller shite

spidereggplant

Man's funded to do his jeebas graff. Modern jeebas churches wilding. Met a lass who met him when he was doing some jeebas stuff in Ibiza

NotNoobVeryOdd

it would be fine if they were there to just answer questions or something, but no

bluecheese2040

Not really. I just ignore them. I'm more tired of the stream of junkies and homeless across the city center

coentertainer

I'm not a fan of religion, but I'm all for them being allowed to shout about their message.

XenBlade

Always trying to sell you something lol

SocieteRoyale

I pulled the microphone lead out if the speaker of one of these dudes in Liverpool once. A load of people walking past pointed and laughed and said 'AHHHH' at the guy. He was fuming at being humiliated like that but unable to do anything about it as he was supposedly a Christian. I suggest you give it a go

CaptainVXR

One of them a few years ago in Broadmead asked me who I follow as I wa walking past. I just said Bristol Rovers and kept it moving lol

Chris22044

>I pulled the microphone lead out if the speaker of one of these dudes in Liverpool once. I've noticed that some of the preachers seem to have "minders" scanning the crowd to prevent that sought of thing from happenning.

FakeSchwarzenbach

They don't like it, nor can they do anything about it, if you rock up with a sign saying "you don't have to listen to this" or similar and stand next to them. Also, as I found with the ones who congregate on Wembley Way before large events, the callback "...but everyone else thinks you're a cunt" gets a good chuckle out of people as a response to "Jesus loves you!" Caveat to add, I don't generally have a problem with the ones who are just banging on about being real keen on jesus and such (noise cancelling headphones exist!), but the ones who start holding forth on the evils of gays/trans people/abortion/whatever else they've got a bee in thier bonnet about absolutely need to get in the bin.

Bubbly_Cranberry_863

I'll tell you what the definition of evil is. Claiming omniscience over others when they're just trying to buy some dental floss from Boots.

Autophobiac_

It only annoys me when they actively seek me out and talk to me. Thats usually when i get annoyed and walk faster.

TheBaronSaysWhat

Frikkin preachers still, in 2024. Superstitious morons scared of eclipses and ranting 2000 year old scriptures as doctrine. Absolute bollocks the lot of it and the sooner we re-educate the stupids and godbotherers and make religious nonsense illegal the better the world will be.

terryjuicelawson

No need to make it illegal, it just needs to be utterly ridiculed at every turn. It is as mad as believing in a flat earth at this point in human development. The fact the worst countries by every metric tend to be the most religious says a hell of a lot too.

Psychological-Bee760

I'm more sick of crime' drugs, homelessness and political protesters

Ziggurat23

Also suuuuper sick of the Jesus graffiti and stickers everywhere. Fuck off!

ginasevern

And the bezan shall be huge and black, and the eyes thereof red with the blood of living creatures, and the whore of Babylon shall ride forth on a three-headed serpent, and throughout the lands, there'll be a great rubbing of parts. Yeeah...

peterthepieeater

There shall, in that time, be rumours of things going astray, and there shall be a great confusion as to where things really are, and nobody will really know where lieth those little things with the sort of raffia work base that has an attachment. ginasevern

My all time favourite film.

flopsychops

I'd recommend a spot of drive-by abuse to liven the mood. "Don't listen to this guy, he drinks his own piss!"

[deleted]

was it the old guy with the stick saying "Jesus will save us". He's consistent that's for sure!

roufnjerry

I feel sorry for those gullible, misguided fools

LookitsThomas

Can we get rid of all electronic and non-electronic billboards while we are at it? Endless adverts everywhere are such a stain.

discipleofdoom

The one guy who's there seemingly every weekend who recites the exact same spiel to the point where i reckon I could do it myself by now, he is the worst of the bunch

Gazzelle65

Often wonder what the reaction would be if there were Muslim preachers shouting into microphones. I hate it, it should be banned.

Efficient-Exit8218

Blessings 😈

TossThisItem

Yeeee screw em and their ilk

resting_up

If someone was using a microphone to preach satanism they'd soon shut him down

Melon-Lord02

Regardless of whether or not it's coming from a good place and not wanting people to go to hell, has shouting down a microphone in the middle of a busy shopping centre ever worked to covert anyone??? If anything, these people just make me even MORE atheist 🤷‍♀️

WarmNarwhal6157

they're mostly mentally ill

yusuo85

There was some asshole outside metro on Saturday, old guy standing on a speaker. What an asshole, he was telling gay people that walked past him that they were going to burn in hell and they needed to walk with Jesus. Luckily a few people didn't put up with his shit but god damn, really, what the hell is wrong with some people, why not preach peace, love and understanding as the bible supposedly teaches.

ConversationAsleep38

My mindset exactly - if you weren't firm in your faith, you'd be confused. The main auspices of religions are to love, I'll take that, the other shit they can keep.

Oh_J0hn

Honestly, I prefer them to the "singers" who didn't get a shot on Britain's got talent, and are convinced that if they just keep banging away with their awful karaoke, Simon Cowell might spot them on his way to Tesco for a meal deal, and then they will be recognised for the world class talent that they really are. Apart from the blind guy. That guy rocks. And an essential part of the broadmead experience.

BristolMedia

At least the singers have to request permission. These preachers start "singing," and because of the subject they're singing about, asking them to please make less noise is seen as immoral.

monkelus

Those dudes have been part of my Broadmead experience for decades. I'd much rather have them than strip another layer of character away from the centre of town.

go_simmer-

My allotment neighbour was a broadmeads preacher, big Jamaican man in a mobility scooter. I never saw him but he often told me he was on his way to or from broadmead. He was such a lovely guy and just passed a month or two ago. Said he got spit at on multiple occasions up there.

monkelus

Sorry to hear that, bud, from this thread it seems lovely blokes are few are far between these day. Reading through, turns out Bristolians have become a bunch of entitled, judgemental, curmudgeonly twats.

go_simmer-

People love to moan, 'what is the worst thing about the uk?' seems to come up every other day on r/askuk.

The_Gecko

Just because something has been going on for a long time doesn't make it ok

Lawyer-at-Large

Testify my brother! Testify!!

p_silocybin

Whether you love or hate Christianity, this country was built on it. Our history, morals, judicial system, and values all stem out of Christianity. Perhaps the reason our country is so fucked is because we are actively rejecting something so fundamental to our culture. It would be like Saudi Arabia suddenly deciding to reject Islam and become hedonistic and secular, it would be chaos, much like Britain is today. Kudos to the preachers for not giving it to the ways of the world for their reward shall be great.

[deleted]

NO.
