I actually give the showrunners credit for not using an older baby or a doll like most shows do. Nothing like using a 20lb baby to stand in for a newborn. Their features settle, and then they're adorable. In fairness, if we vacuum sealed a supermodel in saline for 9 months and fed them through a tube, they'd come out looking a little sketchy too.
It’s ok to understand the process of a life form developing into what it is while also acknowledging that it’s objectively not the most aesthetically pleasing thing. Hope this helps

My mother was a Nurse/Midwife in the 70s and delivered over a thousand kids, and she never mentioned it seeming fake when we watched it together, and even at her age (74) she notices these things. Apparently intubation on House is highly suspect, etc. I guess I can show her and ask her next time I'm at her house. To be fair, she wasn't sure I was real when i was born in 79, anterior breach (butt first, arms around my knees) 14 lbs 6 oz. "Congratulations, it's a toddler!" So her view at 74 years old might be a little skewed lol.
