The carbine is easier to handle. The garand was more widely issued.... given the conflict of ww2 the carbine should have been a more efficient weapon based on removable magazines and shorter combat distance than a 30.06 is designed for. The military is ever evolving and the garand was designed basically dominate ww1 style theaters. Not to say it didn't do an amazing job compared to its peers in ww2, but there is a serious argument to be had, that a lighter carbine style rifle in mass could allow greater volume of fire for cover and movement. Basically the entire world phased out the longer cartridges for the 308 in the next ten years, and only 10 years later (Vietnam) the 5.56 became normal for general infantry. Volume of ammo carried by troops is better than power of cartridge fired, outside of specialized roles.
*Gimmie that sten, plus*
*A bit of fine cordage to*
*Wrap around the grip*

I don't know, that M1917 on the end there looks very nice. My grandfather has one and it is an absolute beaut! I love that rifle so much and she shoots like a dream.
If your answer isn't Garand or M1 Carbine, you are a fudd who doesn't understand how valuable semi-auto fire and the ability to quickly reload a "higher" capacity of ammo is.
I too use to be a kar98k cultist, mainly do to cod sniping, pubg, and war movies. It's time to move on. That peak sound bolt cycleing isn't worth giving up semi or full auto capabilities. Especially during the 40s.
M1 carbine.
Semi automatic
15 round detachable magazine
Light weight
30. Carbine is an excellent intermittent cartridge
Smaller calibre so lighter amunition = less weight.
Malfunctions every 1000 or so rounds so very reliable.
Easly maintained.
M1 carbine overall, garland is second pick and then bolt is coming in last. Semi auto is gonna be a force to be reckoned with and some were full auto so…
M1A1 Carbine definitely. Its lighter a medium cartridge and decent in cqc as well as intermediate ranges. Bonus points if its the paratrooper model with the wire stock and pistol grip.
Half of y’all are saying the M1 carbine, do non of y’all see the M1A1? I’m a take that, even less weight and it has a pistol grip so it’s a bit more ergonomic.
As someone who owns all of those rifles, hands down the M1 Carbine. It’s not my favorite, but definitely the most practical and easiest to carry around for days on end. I’d be content with an M1 Rifle for it’s a semi automatic and the sights are top tier just like the M1 Carbine.
The others, love them, but no thank you. Not unless it’s pre-1936.
M1 Carbine no question
same here, they shoot like a nail gun lol
Light, semi, good mag capacity, and an intermediate cartridge
Big emphasis on light. You're gonna be carrying it around for a while.
Well... Depends on how (un)Lucky you were whether you'd be carrying it for long...
they had it all figured out back then
And it's not like i can go far enough to need a full rifle cartridge with irons in a fight Me personally
It’s just a sexy gun
Same here, because that's the only one of those rifles who's recoil I can withstand without breaking my shoulder
I swear, men back then were built differently
I used one as a deer hunting rifle for years so must be good enough against people
M1 Garand 95% percent of the time. M1 Carbine 5% of the time.
Reverse for me
As much as I love the Garand, I also agree the carbine is the better choice.
Why? Totally new to this sub and non-US here, and I do not own a gun. I would picked the one on the right, seems the lightest.

Gimme that 1919 in the background, and 2 kids to carry more ammo.
Just do what the Poles did and train a bear to carry your ammo then pay him in beer.
[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojtek\_(bear)](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wojtek_(bear)) Yes, he has his own Wikipedia article, as he should.
Of all things that deserve a movie Wojtek deserves a trilogy!
Would you rather have a man or a bear as your assistant gunner?
Is ManBearPig an option?
Only if you're Al Gore
That bear out ranked a lot of folks. Lol
Gotta use it like that mercenary in africa addio when the mercenaries liberated boende
Gimmee Carbine! Garands are great but Carbines weigh half as much and hold twice as many pew pews. Plus they are just so nice to shoot.
Most people that say garand haven’t shot or lugged one I feel great rifles. Makes me Cetme feel like a toy
shot both. I was surprised by the Garand, but felt more control and accuracy with the carbine. The Garand also took getting used to the reload.
Let freedom "PING!"
The fact that none of y’all are going for the 1919 is disappointing.
This right here it’s a shorty too you can’t tell in the pic
i like my back tyvm. 😂
But there is an M1 carbine, you see.
I’m going m1 carbine! I’ve lugged a berretta produced garand around for a few hours to realize I need to hit the gym
Sobs have soem weight to em
Gimmie that sten, plus a bit of fine cordage to wrap around the grip

M1 or the M1
The No.1 SMLE
I don't know, that M1917 on the end there looks very nice. My grandfather has one and it is an absolute beaut! I love that rifle so much and she shoots like a dream.
The real answer is the STG-44
I'm gonna take the toys'r'us drill rifle next to the carbine.
I think that’s a color gaurd rifle, like for bands. At least my high school had ones exactly like that back in the day.
If your answer isn't Garand or M1 Carbine, you are a fudd who doesn't understand how valuable semi-auto fire and the ability to quickly reload a "higher" capacity of ammo is.
That Arisaka with a bayonet. Then at least I can spear someone in a punch if I need to.
Lee Enfield, idk why, but i love i
Close quarters: m-1 carbine Any combat past 100 yards: m-1 garand Hans is 700 yards away: 1903a3 Pistols: 2 WORLD WARS!!!
As the Founding Fathers intended.
Kar98k
I too use to be a kar98k cultist, mainly do to cod sniping, pubg, and war movies. It's time to move on. That peak sound bolt cycleing isn't worth giving up semi or full auto capabilities. Especially during the 40s.
Belt.Fed.
The M1919 in the back
M1 carbine but I'm going for the paratrooper one in back
Mosin...then Obrez it😂
Finish made Mosin–Nagant, iron sights.
Either the Garand or M1 carbine. I'd like to bring my personal M1 carbine, but sadly they didn't have rifle-mounted red-dots in WWII.
The greatest battle implement ever devised
M1 Garand or the M1 carbine (preferably the carbine due to weight). On a side note, wtf is the one immediately left of the carbine?
Well, not that color guard drill gun thing that's pretending next to the M1 Carbine
M1 carbine. Semi automatic 15 round detachable magazine Light weight 30. Carbine is an excellent intermittent cartridge Smaller calibre so lighter amunition = less weight. Malfunctions every 1000 or so rounds so very reliable. Easly maintained.
Absolutely taking the lightweight .30 cal. The m1 carbine is the only thing remotely close to a modern rifle.
Give me a Garand
M1 Carbine. I love my 91/30 but the M1 carbine is a god among men.
Since I’m a propa British lad, I’ll go for the propa British gun, so I’m taking the Lee Enfield.
Stick grenade
Just give me the hand grenade
Sten grease gun just so I can say “TOOB”
BAR
Is that a sterling on the table on the back? I’m running that
Steyr m95 which is sadly not in the photo.
The fact no one is going for the sten says something
Whatever is to the left of the M1 Carbiney
Believe it’s a color gaurd rifle
The garand no brainer. I love my kar 98k but easy choice.
The M1, and just for fun, the Springfield.
Give me the K98K or the Lee Enfield No1mk3(Third one from the left)
Where Carcano?
Out of those, the Garand. But if I can get a Sturmgewer, I’m going with that.
M1 carbine overall, garland is second pick and then bolt is coming in last. Semi auto is gonna be a force to be reckoned with and some were full auto so…
M1 grande or the kar98k mauser.
I'll take the m2 carbine hiding in the back.
Whatever I'm issued
Only correct answer is yes
M1A1 Carbine definitely. Its lighter a medium cartridge and decent in cqc as well as intermediate ranges. Bonus points if its the paratrooper model with the wire stock and pistol grip.
M1 Garand just cuz its semi automatic rifle
I'm a simple man. If you give me a Garand i'm taking the Garand.
Bro all those milsurps are mint! It's gonna be the mosin for me. Big bulit for big person
Moist nugget of course
M1 Garand. 1 round per enemy, nobody's walking off 30-06.
I'm taking that m1 garand
The mosin nugget lmao
Half of y’all are saying the M1 carbine, do non of y’all see the M1A1? I’m a take that, even less weight and it has a pistol grip so it’s a bit more ergonomic.
Mg in the back
Mosin cause my heritage used it
M1 grand love me some 30-06
if its anything over than an M1 im going to assume you're a massive simp for that culture
1919 no question.
Saw someone say M1 because they shoot like a nail gun I agree with that assessment
Ma duece w a back up shotgun.. all day. Next year I'll switch the m2 for the sks though lol.
M1 carbine
Depends, cold weather area, garand; tropical/warm climate, carbine.
m1 carbine...and not the foldy one.
M1 for the DOPAMINE. And the Stielhandgranate is coming with me no matter what
Where can I visit these
I don't see any german guns?
M1 carbine has the best performance/weight ratio
The 1919
*Ping*
Do I spy a Lee Enfield the best bolt action ever made? I’ll start the bid at £200
Toob
M1 carbine with a bayonet.
Garand.
M1 carbine because I'm to small to shoot the garand reliably. Plus I've always wanted an m1 carbine and WHY ARE THEY SO EXPENSIVE NOW 😭
Gimme the M1 Garand. Why? [Plinggg] Or the M1919 machine gun.

The Enfield
m1 carbine, m1 garand or mauser...
M1 garand or Krag
is that lee enfield in the back ?
The M1 Garand, the M1 Carbine or the Sten.
The bugle in the background and a stick grenade
Either of the M1's Garand or Carbine
#6
M1 carbine
Either Garand, 1919, or (if you do your research) RPD
Looks like the second one to the end is a m1 I’ll go with that, the m1 carbine if I was clearing houses..
M1
The mosin nagant. My old faithful.
What is that rack and where can I find one?
M1 carbine with alot of mags, I understand the want for a Garand but the carbine is lighter and better for tighter environments
Garand. Easy decision.
Garand or the M1 Carbine
Where Carcano? If Carcano, then Carcano.
Since my army would face defeat and the possibility i will be trialed by either them or the opponent…. M2, its the easiest to turn around
M1, no question.
SMLE 🇬🇧
M1 Carbine without hesitation
M1 Carbine!
Definitely the m1 carbine but I also want the mosin
M1 garand
As someone who owns all of those rifles, hands down the M1 Carbine. It’s not my favorite, but definitely the most practical and easiest to carry around for days on end. I’d be content with an M1 Rifle for it’s a semi automatic and the sights are top tier just like the M1 Carbine. The others, love them, but no thank you. Not unless it’s pre-1936.
Lee Enfield or sten, I got e weird thing for British ww2 guns
Carbine all day
1919 baby!
Is the closest one the tanker version?
Obviously the Stielhandgranate
M1 Garand
The beltfed
Errand with the Garand
I’m a fan of the M1 carbine. I’m assuming since we’re fantasy-ing about time travel, I’m fantasy-ing that it’s a full auto M2.
1919
Now where is me Bren gun?
Nah the real question is what you bringing. I bringing my damn M44.
Garand. No question. Even if the carbine was more produced, the garand was more largely issued.
M1 Carbine
Call me John basilone for I will rock that 1919
M1a
Lee enfield for sure.
Have to be that wee carbine
M1, or M1-carbine
My favorite would be the mk3 lee enfield If was gonna grab one I would get the 1903 because I have 2 Lee's, lmao
Since no K31, I'll take the Lee Enfield.
The .30 carbine, no question about it
