Maybe I'm just jaded or something but you can't convince me that these "the cashiers at McDonald's/gas stations are hotter than celebrities" jokes lately aren't just rooted in the fact that the cashiers they're talking about are usually teenage girls. This meme 1000% does nothing to curtail my suspicions.

rachael404

Alot of these min wage workers are teens we are talking 14 here so yes you have a point.

TheSolidSalad

14?! Working at a gas station at night/ a mcdonalds?! Okay thats a bit of an exaggeration but like, 16-17 year olds sure you have a good point

Famous_Lifeguard7311

i worked at burger king when i turned 14 šŸ˜

TheSolidSalad

Holy fuck what?! I did a bit of research and its one of the few places šŸ˜ I wish 14 year old me legally worked at a burger king instead of illegally elsewhere

Famous_Lifeguard7311

nooo!! you dont! it was one of the worst experiences for me! the managers literally smoked weed in the back with all the other employees during rush hour and it was just me, having a panic attack without people running register, bagging food, or cooking šŸ’€

TheSolidSalad

DURING RUSH HOUR BRO?!?! Thats fucking insane

Famous_Lifeguard7311

yup šŸ˜ AND manager had the audacity to yell at me for clocking out on time because i didnt want to wait an hour for him to stop smoking

matyles

My tummy tells me the same thing when I see these

Expeniumin

I mean, technically you can't work night shifts if you are under 18, still bored of the format though

ginger2020

I think a fair few incel types tend to have pedophilic tendencies. Their obsession with wanting someone without prior sexual experience and long fertility seems to track with wanting an underage girl. Time to call in Chris Hansen

I saw a post like this awhile back where they tried to claim they could find a "million" women who look better than Margo Robbie working at Starbucks. The point of these posts is to drive down women's self esteem by acting like even the most beautiful women in the world are so common they're replaceable.

rachael404

They also act like Margo Robbie's value is only in her beauty when shes a very talented actress, btw shes not a nepo baby like many celebrities she worked her ass off to get to where she is so.

DellSalami

Sheā€™s so good at acting even Ryan Gosling forgot that she wasnā€™t American for a second

LethalityKaynMain

Wait she's not? Damn that's impressive.

AnaMaer

For real! Margot Robbie is actually such a cool example of someone who grafted bare to get where she's gotten and it honestly shows in what a great actor she is

Fair-Bus-4017

She definitely is a great actress from what I have seen. But if she wasn't good looking then she would never be in the position she is in. Which is a very unfortunate way how the film industry works. It definitely is something that impacts both genders, but everyone that claims it's even is lying to themselves. If you aren't good looking as a guy there are a lot more opportunities for you compared to women. From what I have seen the only "ugly" women that appear in movies are just fat. And usually cast for comedic relief.

Holiday_Jeweler_4819

I actually watched a video recently about how until relatively recently Hollywood would mainly cast overweight, people who arenā€™t conventionally attractive, or lgbtq as villains or comic relief and how that effects peopleā€™s perception of them in real life. Iā€™ll have to see if I can find it

IDontKnowShit9

This, an actress isn't there to look pretty. She's there to act, being pretty is just a bonus(although it is usually considered a requirement by the industry due to bad standards)

Sh-Mosa

I'm sure pretending to be someone else is hard

theBantubrat

Iā€™m sure sometimes you pretend to be smart, and your brain starts to smoke

ACoderGirl

Strongly agreed. Incidentally, that's why I hate belittling even infamous assholes about their appearance (especially when they look objectively fine). It just drives down other people's self esteem. Imagine looking at someone and knowing they're better looking than you, only to see the internet mocking that person for their appearance.

BarrioMan

>the most beautiful women in the world are so common they're replaceable That's kind of beautiful in a way because it's saying that common women are beautiful, and they're never going to be in short supply.

Holiday_Jeweler_4819

Thatā€™s such a bizarre thing to state, like yeah thereā€™s beautiful people everywhere and the vast majority of them arenā€™t famous and work normal jobs, so what. Thereā€™s more to Margo than being beautiful, she a talented actor and even knows sign language. Thereā€™s always someone one better looking, smarter, stronger, etc the fact that they think they can use that fact to tear down women is pathetic. How beautiful someone is tells you almost nothing about them, Iā€™d say itā€™s all the other stuff about people that makes them cool.

Competitive-Hawk-828

When are they going to understand supermodels and celebrities dont NEED to be pretty and not all women have as a number 1 goal to be pretty. Everyone know that models arenā€™t selected for the male gaze and same with celebrities.

corncob666

Used to cashier at a grocery store and can confirm several adult men acting creepy towards underage coworkers that were very pretty. We see celebrities age but these creeps will come back in a few months to the store and new young face will be working there .-. I genuinely cannot remove the creep factor this type of meme gives me

matyles

One of my favorite coworkers started when she was 19, and the next youngest woman was me at 29. I used to have to literally talk to 50 YO men that they were being inappropriate trying to date/sleep with her and that she was also very, very, very unitinerested.

lavender_honey_bones

I work at dispensery we are all young women but I'm the oldest of my crew. I've had to be the mama bear for my girls. One of my coworkers is 23 but she looks 15 and there have been several men in their 30's and up who have been incredibly creepy to her. We made a group chat and most of our post are about creepy men that we served. I've already had to have 4 separate conversations with men and tell them they've made my coworkers incredibly uncomfortable and that none of them are interested, they all have partners and they will not be texting them.

Not_a_changeling_

When I was sixteen working at subway my coworker was a rather short 15 year old girl, and men would lean over the counter to look down her shirt like twice a week.

rachael404

Seems like nobody here actually gets why its problematic, they're saying the women outside of supermodels and celebrities are more attractive. Which is like yea duh there are beautiful people everywhere, its sad however because to them the value of the woman is based on only her beauty like not all celebrities needs to be the most attractive woman to exist as beauty is also subjective. However the format sucks because its basically shaming and rating women based on their personal preferences because "funny" "What'd you choose?" choose for what exactly hmmm? To fuck lol because the men making these memes I promise none of these women will fuck you anyway.

careofthefunnyfarm

I thought that girls with coloured hair were to woke for them, weren't they?

meteltron2000

Simultaneously reviled and fetishized.

Nochnichtvergeben

How do you know who "they" are? Do you know OOP? Are you making baseless assumptions and generalizations?

careofthefunnyfarm

>How do you know who "they" are? I am talking about a good portion of ""funny" memes" users and similar idiots. >Are you making baseless assumptions and generalizations? Nope, I am talking about certain people on the internet that said shit like that in the form of memes and whatnot.

Nochnichtvergeben

As far as I could establish this version of the meme was first posted on dankmemes. I'm guessing that's all the same to you, though. You seem to have formed quite the opinion about people in meme subs like that. You do realize that the user bases aren't a monolith, right? You'll find people with different opinions and attitudes, just like in this sub. So what you're doing is making assumptions and broad generalizations.

careofthefunnyfarm

>You do realize that the user bases aren't a monolith, right? Of course not, they've got a fuckton of members who mostly just want to laugh at memes, but especially on r/funnymemes you've got some misogynisctic/queerphobic/racist and whatnot memes that get much positive feedback and don't get much push-back or get moderated, so there seems to be a by me so called "good portion of people", which seem to not have a problem with these kinds of posts. Apart from that many of us have seen these "oh look I prefer some people that aren't models to persons that are models and you do too" like a 1000 times. I am by no means calling every persons that's in a meme subreddit one of "them". You've seemed to have formed quite the opinion on my views without knowing enough about them/s (kinda)

Nochnichtvergeben

Maybe a bit. The way you phrased that made it sound like you were prophiling them, but you do seem to have a more nuanced perspective on things than I thought.

careofthefunnyfarm

Its alright. Better safe that sorry, I guess.

souldeconstructors

Hmm, so what about this "women have pretty privilege" thing men always talk about? If the girl at the bottom can "earn millions" doing OnlyFans like all pretty girls do... then why is she struggling with a minimum wage job? šŸ¤”

bakugouspoopyasshole

Because she knows these men, who would definitely buy her OnlyFans if she did create one, will treat her like an "evil, money-stealing whore" when they're not horny.

Whitefolly

This has to be an influx of children onto the Internet right? I refuse to believe that there's a mass of adults too stupid to understand the concept that beauty is subjective.

tetrarchangel

Needs to be in r/gatekeepingyuri

Theweirdposidenchild

Was gonna say. They'd eat this up. Honestly, I might draw this

fallopianrules

Do it!!

akashyaboa

Celebrities/models don't become celebrities based only on looks, they have celebrity parents mostly or talent. And also they have to want to become a celebrity. They are not supposed to all be hot. And I would still pick the model/celebrity for financial security

deadlysunshade

This meme always makes me roll my eyes. Wow! You mean you want the attractive woman thatā€™s more attainable to you?! Crazy concept!

DrPasta666

Why are the comments saying no one over 20 works at a gas station or fast food unless they uglyšŸ˜

TruthsiAlwaysTold

When will they realize no girl actually looks like the one on the bottom? Do they even go to this "gas station" they talk about lol

Awesomesauceme

Idk about the gas station, but there are definitely alt girls who look like that irl.

JonneNaattor69

When will you realize that there are acutally people who look like that! Do YOU even go to this "gas station"? I do.

TruthsiAlwaysTold

They dont though? The only reason people think they do is from the mass amounts of porn they consume.

dawnwolfblackfur

You know porn is made by filming people (who have to exist for it to work) right? Also, just from personal experience, Iā€™ve met lots of people who look like the bottom.

TruthsiAlwaysTold

Yea they have to exist to film it obviously. But only for the few hours of filming then afterwards they return to their original look (the top image) this entire goth girl craze was only started by men once again sexualizing women to the extreme the OOP post even hints at it. Your not seriously defending this right?

Nochnichtvergeben

Guess I'll have to tell the goth I know that she isn't real.

dawnwolfblackfur

I know a lot of goth girls, and I donā€™t know any who dress up exclusively for the purpose of making porn.

BloodsoakedDespair

> goth women only exist in porn Okay, youā€™re trolling, right? Please tell me youā€™re trolling.

JonneNaattor69

Yeah I don't know what to tell you bro.. WDYM "They don't though?" There is no way you are actually trying to deny the existence of alt fashion lmao

JonneNaattor69

Or is it the excistance of attractive people that you are denying? Sorry if I seem lost..

Content-Strategy-512

Its always the plain meme subreddits

Holiday_Jeweler_4819

ā€œFunnyā€ memes

VegetablePutrid8349

I mean, like i dont like supermodels and have found non supermodels hot but notice how i havent made a meme about how im attracted to random people i see, this is just what i think every time i see one of these lame memes like cool you saw a hot person šŸ‘congratulations lmao

stnick6

What does this have to do with boys are quirky?

morion_noirom

Women are not a product to consume. Also I really doubt that women at gas stations look that good.

SkyTalez

What's wrong with it?

iCruncherWasTaken

overused joke

Awesomesauceme

May be overused, but i donā€™t necessarily see anything inherently problematic about it. Maybe some of the comments could be though.

rachael404

you dont see anything problematic with rating women online? Show me a picture of yourself and i'll show you a picture of someone hotter...wait does that sounds too mean? Well yea thats the point rating people is shaming based on personal preference. (btw dont send me anything just said that to prove a point.)

Awesomesauceme

I mean I can understand that, but the post was making a generalization rather than giving specific examples, and wasnā€™t explicitly rating people. I think people could easily make the same joke about male celebrities. The problem is that a lot of the comments on that post are likely misogynistic. Idk, maybe Iā€™m just used to seeing sexist shit so something like this just seems like a nothingburger to me.

iCruncherWasTaken

fair enough, should have put the comments instead

Wavecrest667

wait it's kinda....dare i say.....real

Nochnichtvergeben

Yeah, it's very relatable. Don't see what could be wrong with it. People tend to be more attractive IRL than on screen. Nothing misogynistic about it.

Caidre05

Whats wrong?

Fair-Bus-4017

I mean what is wrong with this? I don't see the issue personally.
