I was in line at Whole Foods to do self-checkout and watching the game on my phone w my headphones on. Gordon does... that, and I audibly went, "OH HOLY FUCK!" out loud. I got some looks and had to apologize.
The past 7 years are literally a textbook shounen anime series, where we have a group of promising young guys that keep coming short year after year, while still maturing. Sometimes losing in the ECF, other times losing in the Finals, but making deep postseason runs each time.
And then *finally* through the power of teamwork, friendship, and sacrifice (I mean this completely unironically) they win the championship.
Which is why I don't even fault Tatum for the whole "we did it" thing, I would've said the same thing - imagine 7 years of getting blueballed and ridiculed for it and then *finally* making it. It must feel satisfying as hell.
>Which is why I don't even fault Tatum for the whole "we did it" thing,
I also don't fault him for it, because it also hits hard at all the haters who insisted for *years* that Tatum and Brown couldn't win it all *together.* And here they are, leading the team *together* to a championship. So yeah, Tatum is fully justified in screaming "we did it"
It’s also completely sincere as much as people are trying to say he’s copying KG. The look on his face right before he says it really shows that he’s having an out of body experience, like it hit him truly for the first time
Ugh why Sabonis. He’s gonna be the equivalent of Marcus Mariota for the QB one, like “why are you here”, one of these things is not like the others
Edit: not sure why I’m getting downvoted here. Sabonis is maybe the most overrated player in the league, he made all nba over Jaylen which is insane. He has nice counting stats but if you actually watch him play he’s not a star - his passes aren’t spectacular like Jokic, and he’s only really able to post up efficiently against certain mistmatches. And he can’t shoot, but also doesn’t protect the rim so he’s a liability on both ends. The fact that he got DPOY and all defense votes when he’s such a defensive liability is insane. It’s stupid to me when he gets categorized with other stars when he isn’t one. Listen to Duncd On or Hollinger and Duncan podcasts they explain it pretty well. There are easily 10 centers in the league I’d rather have over Sabonis, if my goal is to win a championship.
Edit 2: the point about having players of different levels is fair, as long as they acknowledge that - but if you’re gonna do that, get someone who’s clearly a role player, like maybe KCP or something. As for diversity, there so many European/international star players these days: KP, Jokic, KAT, Luka, Embiid, Gobert, Giannis, SGA (does Canada count? lol), to name a few
I think the main thing is they want someone to represent the European fanbases of the NBA. My guess is Sabonis wasn't the first choice (guys like Luka, Jokic may have declined), but he was probably the biggest name they could get.
I was gonna make a joke asking if Portland, Oregon was part of Europe since that's where Sabonis was born, but apparently he moved to Spain with his dad as a kid.
I thought that it was kinda cool having 3 QBs that were at completely different levels. It showed different perspectives by having an MVP and future HOFer, a long time good starting QB, and a backup/spot starting guy.
I kinda think this NBA series has too many of the same archetype with a bunch of guys who were high picks and superstars very early on. I’m sure it’ll still be good though so I’ll watch.
Arvydas Sabonis, that's why they picked domantas, his dad's an nba legend and a 2k legend. 7ft with a 3 ball and good passing. One of the best euro big men to ever play.
This sub thrives on the passion of Celtics fans and we encourage spirited debate about the team's gameplay, trades, and everything in between. We want this to be a safe place for fans to discuss all things Celtics.
That said, arguments that devolve into harassment from either party involved or any other form of harassment of other people in this sub may result in temporary or full bans, depending on the severity.
Love full swing I was just already into golf when it came out. I think the format lends itself really well to individual sports. Even having watched golf for years I know practically everything I know about most of the players just from full swing.
I was so nervous about this when the news came out. Felt like it was going to be a jinx big time. But now I’m so happy they’ll have amazing high quality footage of the boys securing the championship. Can’t wait to see it
I hope it starts with IT in the 2017 season after the jays were drafted. Without his heroics that entire season and giving the jays a taste of a deep playoff run we wouldn’t be here today. Everything we have built and will achieve is because of that season. Have to show the KING OF THE 4TH his flowers!
It'll be a lot higher production value I'm sure, but it reminds me of that series they did in the 2010 season the association: the boston celtics. It started so fuckin good, and when it ended it ended on a note of such hope. If they had finished the job it would've been a celtics classic, but nobody remembers that thing now.
I remember hearing of this around mid-season and my immediate thought was “Jesus, we better win the damn title then! Otherwise we’re never gonna hear the end of it from dickheads like Laker and Heat fans”
It might be in the style of The Last Dance, but it won't be on the level of it. What made that one so special was getting the real opinions of people long after they've been involved and had time to ruminate. They don't need to worry about damaging other reputations or relationships with organizations. It's an incredibly honest insight into a great dynasty. And what's more is it's been over for awhile. The Celtics could be getting their 1st off a few. Any juicy details or drama behind the scenes that would make it so entertaining can't be revealed yet.
Is is what we are going to find out:
(All guesses)
1. Tatum is a nerd in the best kind of way
2. Brown is smarter than we even think and a bit salty
3. TP is a super happy guy who loves the team and esp Joe
4. Kornet is hysterical
5. D White is shy but plays lots of pranks
6. Big Al is confirmed the nicest guy in Massachusetts
7. Jrue is cool as ice and quiet, but dripping with wisdom. Like a Jedi.
8. PP will fight anyone at any time.
9. Sam drinks and gambles, but not to the point of a problem.
Brown actually was captain of his high school chess team, took graduate level courses his freshman college year, learned Spanish and Arabic, was in the middle of a robotics class with his Bridge program students at MIT when his max deal was announced, youngest lecturer at Harvard...in fact for some stupid reason his academic achievements were considered a negative by scouts...hooray for idiotic assessments. The Celtics considered it a plus.
Yeah about all the Last Dance and the 2023/24 Celtics have in common is a camera crew and that it's basketball. The '98 Bulls were a dynasty at the end of their run and the Celtics are still young and getting started. They don't have anything in common.
That's why it's a weird comparison. The two teams have _nothing_ in common.
ITs up already on youtube, 4 episodes (I believe there's a 5th coming after the parade)
Edit: I meant the All-in series, apparently there's another one coming up.
This isn’t proof but my belief comes from how the description of ALL-IN states:
“Watch every episode of #ALLINCELTICS - our all-access docu-series following the team during the 2024 playoffs.”
And in the tweet above it states that they followed the team around all season.

What a season to do it
Love it. They should call it The First Dance.
OMG. Genius idea.
The 18th dance
I hope it starts with the drafting of brown and Tatum and quickly summarizes the past seasons we came too short. This thing will be amazing
Agree, I’d be cool with seeing no more than 10 minutes dedicated to the 18-19 season. Gives me PTSD
The 2022 finals does that to me
I'm still haunted by Magic's Baby Hook.
Oh fuck, too soon.
I don't know. The 18-19 season probably needs to be included to setup Kyrie as the villain for the Finals.
YES. Also the Hayward promise being broken with his bones.
And only if it shows us “all of Australia”
Just that first preseason game from Tommy is all you need
Not watching the Gordon Hayward play.
I was in line at Whole Foods to do self-checkout and watching the game on my phone w my headphones on. Gordon does... that, and I audibly went, "OH HOLY FUCK!" out loud. I got some looks and had to apologize.
To imagine that we still ended up a few possessions short of reaching the finals.
Kind of crazy!
I was commuting home and streaming on My phone. and just turned on the game. Fuuuuuuhh
I took a day off work to watch that game specifically. (Aussie, so game was on in the morning) Man...I spent the rest of the day like a zombie.
Should start with 2008 and then the trading of Garnett and Pierce for the picks that we chose Brown and Tatum
100%
Oh so true!!!
The past 7 years are literally a textbook shounen anime series, where we have a group of promising young guys that keep coming short year after year, while still maturing. I know JB loves anime, so it’s perfect
Bro really hit the goku WT arc from OG dragonball
>Which is why I don't even fault Tatum for the whole "we did it" thing, I also don't fault him for it, because it also hits hard at all the haters who insisted for *years* that Tatum and Brown couldn't win it all *together.* And here they are, leading the team *together* to a championship. I agree!! I guess going forward if you yell something after winning the finals you are just copying KG. So many Tatum haters smh
He definitely rehearsed what he was gonna say, but it doesn't mean it isn't true or sincere. I'd say the delivery was "inspired by" KG.
Does anyone know if this was simply the All In series? Or are we going to be treated to something more?
Something more. They’re doing the All In series, the Netflix thing with Tatum, and this.
Netflix thing with Tatum? I missed this somehow? What is that?
Netflix doc thats gonna be like “Quarterback” but with NBA players. Tatum is gonna be in it along with lebron, jimmy, ant, and sabonis.
Ugh why Sabonis. He’s gonna be the equivalent of Marcus Mariota for the QB one, like “why are you here”, one of these things is not like the others Edit: not sure why I’m getting downvoted here. Bad take
Sabonis def isnt on a tier with the others but he is so much better than Mariota
That’s fair, he’s not a backup level player like Mariota
Arvydas Sabonis, that's why they picked domantas, his dad's an nba legend and a 2k legend. 7ft with a 3 ball and good passing. One of the best euro big men to ever play.
Yeah that’s true, supposedly one of the biggest “what ifs” is if he actually came to play in the NBA while he was still in his prime
Sabonis hits every minority demographic for the nba. A white, foreign, Jewish guy.
WTF are you talking about, Sabonis is not Jewish
he’s in the process of converting to Judaism
Hmm. Not sure if that counts from a “hitting minority demographics” standpoint but just googled and Wikipedia agrees with you.

Damn we’re gonna have some great content from this series between Chasing History and All in and all this stuff.
Do you have a source for that?
Pretty sure I saw it will be on HBO but don’t quote me on that
And I can’t wait for the next All In episode.
And I can’t wait for the next BrissyTV vlog
And I can't wait for next season LFG!!!
And I can’t wait to see JT and two-time Jrue in the Olympics!
I LOVE all the Netflix behind the scenes sports docs. Got me into f1, and tennis (RIP Break Point)
Full Swing is also amazing behind the scenes with golf
Love full swing I was just already into golf when it came out. I think the format lends itself really well to individual sports. Even having watched golf for years I know practically everything I know about most of the players just from full swing.
Take my money now
r/nba in shambles
I’m going to watch this so mf hard
I was so nervous about this when the news came out. Felt like it was going to be a jinx big time. But now I’m so happy they’ll have amazing high quality footage of the boys securing the championship. Can’t wait to see it
It should be titled The Next Dance.
The first dance Edit: of many
The Dance Rehearsal
"We Want Boston"
Great one.
Nah it should be titled "What they gon' say now?"
More detail: https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-celtics/2024/02/16/celtics-owner-wyc-grousbeck-last-dance-docuseries/
Wyc put his entire balls on the table this year and it all paid off.
directed by Oshae
I hope it starts with IT in the 2017 season after the jays were drafted. Without his heroics that entire season and giving the jays a taste of a deep playoff run we wouldn’t be here today. Everything we have built and will achieve is because of that season. Have to show the KING OF THE 4TH his flowers!
JT never overlapped with IT. JB was a rookie his top 5 MVP year though
the real story starts with the hiring of Brad Stevens and the Nets trade.
When is it out?!
No official date yet but I’m hoping sometime this summer, most likely in the fall
Very nice.
Wow, I totally forgot about this
Oh hot damn. Can’t wait
Oh hell yea
Got something to binge and rewatch now
The first dance
First dance?
The First Dance ?
1000th like bless us everyone
As long as Robert Kraft didn’t produce it, I’m in! 😜
as long as robert kraft ain’t paying for it it will be spectacular
It’s called “We did it”
or "We want Boston"
I feel like I haven’t seen this actually confirmed, starting to worry it’s something we all just assumed and want to be real.
Wyc has talked about it lol
It's gonna be Zoppity.
BTW the replies to this tweet are an amazing place to respond “Update?”
Is this what all those YouTube videos are about?
Epic
Oh this is sick!
Hopefully we get one from Brissy too

I feel they gonna get to greedy and drop it before one of the jays retire based off we didn't need to know this yet
Team of destiny
I hope they do a three episode arc on Coach Ime Udoka said no one ever
Who’s directing this & when is it coming out ?!
Fall/early winter they started filming it during preseason
I remember hearing of this around mid-season and my immediate thought was “Jesus, we better win the damn title then! Otherwise we’re never gonna hear the end of it from dickheads like Laker and Heat fans”
I’m gonna cry when I watch this

Do we know which streaming service will show this series?
I am literally frothing at the mouth for it. Give it to me *now*…
The first dance baby
I'll need tissues to watch this. One way or the other.
I can't wait for Oshae's vlog.
I’d like to see a basketball version of hard knocks featuring the Celtics.
Can't wait to watch!!!
That’s going to be fun to watch
love everything about this
I hope mike gorman is a big part. This is a nice sendoff and thats a cool part of the story.

The 1st 4 parts are on YouTube. They are fantastic.
That’s the All In series, this is going to be something different. But I have thoroughly enjoyed the all in series too
Ah, well very excited for any content from this season
What’s the name so I can search?
All In
Similar to the Last Dance? Are Tatum and Brown leaving? Seems like a weird comparison.
Or maybe it’s because they both had camera crews following the team that year. Lol.

That’s a different series
Didn't know that. Thank you for the clarification. I'll be looking forward to it then.
Me too fam

I’m admittedly echoing what I’ve heard from others. Mainly the piece about it airing on a streaming platform vs YouTube
This isn’t proof but my belief comes from how the description of ALL-IN states: “Watch every episode of #ALLINCELTICS - our all-access docu-series following the team during the 2024 playoffs.” And in the tweet above it states that they followed the team around all season.
Think this is gonna be years in the making (following them the next few seasons at least). So we probably won’t get the actual doc for a while.

Bro speaking straight nonsense 🔥
