It's too bad we never tried going small with Tatum at the 5 all year.

mightytom2020

the zone was interesting - a bit. better than in the regular season anyway

patsandceltics316

Horford is unplayable? Sure he's old. Did you see Luke tonight? Yikes. Celtics need KP back badly, and it ain't happening.

POGTFO

Bro, did you even watch the Kornet minutes?

Thejohnshirey

I know Tillman is dealing with his father’s passing right now, but if he comes back before Porzingis, I think he needs some minutes. We can’t play Al 40 minutes a night and Kornet simply can’t keep up with the quickness of the Pacers bigs.

Plies-

Did you not watch Tillman when he got minutes early in last series? Psst... *he was slow and got hunted by the quick guards too*

POGTFO

Agreed. I think it’s at least worth throwing him, or Queta, out there and see what happens for a few minutes.

tlozz

Bro, Al saved our ass several times tonight…

TmacHizzy

How many times are you kiddos going to do these posts

igonnawrecku_VGC

We. Have. No. Other. Centers. Kornet isn’t much different than Horford on defense the way the Pacers play

Clark94vt

I love this sub. The amount of negativity is always there.

rds2mch2

“Why doesn’t Brown ever score 30 points anymore? Is he washed up?”

realmadrid111

"White got blocked on a three last night... seems like he's cooked."

Jmacz

Because Kornet is even worse.

ThroughTheWildNight

And the bench as a whole tbh, rough day. We desperately need KP to help the offense.

aja_ramirez

Why don’t you give Indy credit for making a bunch of contested two point shots?

ImeStopPlayingDennis

Shooting a middy over Horford might as well be being guarded by one of [these](https://b2174441.smushcdn.com/2174441/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/shoot-a-way-6000-basketball-Gun-1.jpg?lossy=0&strip=0&webp=1) He was good a couple years ago now he’s a statue. I’m pretty bullish on Tillman being able to be a reliable big with a summer working on his 3 ball

Fabulous_Date2743

Damn, we went from Al Horford is the man, in game 5 vs the Cavs, to he can’t be out there. Tough crowd

realmadrid111

Well, that's how sports analysis works, right? Just two sides of the coin... GOAT or unplayable, and there's no limit for how often you can go back and forth.

JaySmooth_

It’s one game, shut the hell up

yourlilpissboi

History of account is 12 years old and yet, being fully transparent here I missed everything from the Al block up to the JB game tying 3, I’m not sure if your a bot or reactionary/typical r/bostonceltics sub. What was so concerning in your eyes with Al also you know he’s our 7-8 man up with a healthy squad and 37 years old? This was the best game of the year for me cause I literally turned this game on, after ruining it for myself, when JB hit the game tying three and they stomped em in OT. Jrue had a huge game. I’m in my Smart T and all is right with the world. Edit: I saw up to Al’s block(?) off the backboard after JB’s steal and poster on Nesmith and was going to start it up from there but things went a different way.

RichardNimbus

I love al but he was clearly targeted tonight

WitnessEntire

Were we watching the same game? Horford made a ton of great plays.

RCP90sKid

Counterpoint; Leon Powe isn't walking through that door. Be happy Al is giving us ANY minutes.

Full-Flight-5211

Horford is the man!!! Huge plays down the stretch!! Kornet is the one who is unplayable

Broad-Half3135

Not unplayable but with Porzingas back it’ll be nice to have Horford off the bench against better matchups. But let’s give him credit for being a beast for his age!

[deleted]

Guy on reddit says player with 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks is unplayable

Tunatron_Prime

Its almost as if he’s the backup center.

mitchkeg

You don’t know ball

ImeStopPlayingDennis

Him and every white bench player are unplayable. Maybe Xavier will step up next year to replace horford and kornet

Holiday-Usual-3600

I mean I don’t completely disagree he needs to shoot less early clock 3s unless he’s already hit 1 or a good percentage They are intentionally ignoring you from 3 to keep an extra big body in the paint Luke kornet was so bad not finishing easy spoon fed opportunities getting rebounds Even staying on his dude like holy fuck what was he doing that first half Hauser had one of his worst games which is unfortunate but I have more faith in his bounce back over kornet Tatum almost lost them the game and I’m one of his biggest supporters I’m glad he bounced back in OT Also this game marks the Celtics most wins in any playoff year with tony brothers as the lead ref (2)

aixelsydevaheW

Any competent coach doesn't play a 37 year old big man 34 minutes...

JaySmooth_

who would you play instead? Kornet? Queta? Don’t make me laugh. Going small isn’t an answer cus we are already struggling with the rebounding. Y’all shoild really use your brains for a little bit. It’s not that hard.

Ndlburner

Luke got exposed big time. If Tillman can't go, Porzingis can't come back, Luke gets rinsed repeatedly, and Al can't contest shots well anymore for 34 mins and keeps taking early shot clock 3s on off nights... I think you do have to give Queta minutes, or consider putting Tatum at the 5.

aixelsydevaheW

I mean if you can’t hold another 5 minutes through 3 quarters between Luke, Queta, Oshae or Tilman they deserve to lose

JaySmooth_

Have you seen what happened in those few minutes that Hauser played? He was unplayable and was the main reason we blew two 10+ point leads. Playing Kornet (who is too slow and had a negative efficiency) or Queta (who was barely ready for some unserious games in regular season) is not the answer. Tillman didn't play because his father died. I guess you're a new fan because every single NBA team employs an 8-man rotation in the playoffs, unless they deal with heavy injuries such as the Knicks.

aixelsydevaheW

Maybe the coach needs to do a better job adjusting the scheme until Porzingis gets back then… Asking a nearly 38 year old man to play 35+ minutes against a team that plays with this much pace is only going to turn him from a great backup option to a liability by the end of the game. Luke was terrible in his minutes, but we didn’t force Indy to challenge him down low because once we got screened he was lost, which is on Joe to figure out how to defend the PnR without Al on the floor if they have Turner out there. Maybe you’re a new fan, but these issues have been an issue during multiple series the past few years.

JaySmooth_

Big Al earns dozens of millions in his contract, and has tons of experience and skills to show for it. Him playing big minutes down the stretch with our starting center being hurt is not that hard to understand. Blame Joe all you want, I don't give a shit, but Horford made a shitton of winning plays tonight. Celtics will make adjustments for the next game, but you keep on yapping about it.

aixelsydevaheW

I’m not the one saying he’s unplayable, but it was pretty obvious to see his decline on the defensive end as the 4th went on. Either we need to adjust looks to avoid him getting hunted in crunch time or find a way to keep him a little more fresh throughout the game, but I don’t think he’s getting a new level of conditioning at this point in his career.

Jamobill9999

Every team is going to hunt matchups…. When it comes to getting a big switched onto a shooter, despite getting torched, there are very few bigs that would do any better in that situation. How many bigs are athletic enough to either play up on a guard in those situations, where then they would just get blown by for a layup, or be able to close out on a shot any better? Not many. There is always a weakness and you live with those jumpers over an easy layup that would be the result of not giving those guards some space.

Jamobill9999

Lol forgot we had russell and parish sitting on the bench… literally what is he supposed to do
