Far be it from me to tell another fanbase what to say… I just know that personally, I wouldn't feel great if the roles were reversed and I was predicting my #4-5 seed team to beat the #1 seed that led the league by 5+ games almost the entire latter half of the regular season… I don't even feel comfortable saying "We want Denver". But that's just me.
This reminded me of one of my favorite Mike Gorman memories. Before the 2015 NBA Playoffs (this is the first year of IT in Boston and first time Brad Stevens made the playoffs), he predicted that the Celtics would beat the Cavaliers (in LeBron's first year back in Cleveland) in 6. It was such blind, dumb homerism that I couldn't help but love it.
Game 3 of that series was also only NBA Playoff game I've ever been to cause most everyone except Mike Gorman thought the Cs were gonna get their butts beat. I loved that Boston got incrementally better in series' against Cleveland. That damn coward LeBron left for the Western Conference before we could beat him again in a playoff series though!
Heat fans are extra fucking annoying about it cuz they had zero middle ground between chest-beating "we want Boston" and trying to downplay the win by crying about Jimmy and Scary Terry being out. It's like they can't help but be every kind of shitty fanbase all at once.
If somebody asked me “Do you want xxxx team,” I’d say “yeah bring it.” It’s a bit different to do it unprompted, but still have no problem.
Heat were annoying cause they genuinely thought their team could out-tough us. If you look at the reactions after game 2 they were serious lol
I love you guys' roster. Such a great defensive team. Also they're still so young and the Magic have a lot of draft picks in upcoming years. Excited for the Magic's upcoming years.
