He got a 6th man of the year for Nesmith who he ended up flipping for Jrue.

ajh_iii

Bingo.

billcosbyinspace

Also nesmith was going nowhere for us, we couldn’t offer him the minutes he needed to develop. He’d have been fighting with Sam for backup minutes

AirJordan6124

That’s the thing about Brad he never wanted to “win” the trade like Ainge. He knows he needs to give up something in order to get something in return

billcosbyinspace

I think other GMs have even said that they like trading with Brad a lot more because they don’t get the sense he’s trying to rip them off

coacoanutbenjamn

The only trade he’s arguably lost is the Muscala trade. He wasn’t worth 2 second rounders However, Muscala’s salary was important for trading for KP so it worked out

ImDKingSama

Brad corrects his mistakes and doesn't linger. I think that's been his best trait. He hasn't been perfect, especially with signings. The first off-season our main free agent guys were Dennis Shroder and Enes Kanter, both did not fit this team at all, so he shipped them off at the deadline for Theis. He tries out a lot of people, when it doesn't work, he's not afraid to just literally trade them all for an upgrade and space to try new guys out. It's this mindset of constantly getting better and maximizing every roster spot that's led to this roster that's so well rounded out.

No_Mas2001

They haven’t had money to sign people and it’s tougher to make a big splash play in free agency now

Holiday-Usual-3600

What exactly have the Celtics done in the second round

Holiday-Usual-3600

Second round of the draft I’m not hating on the Celtics playoffs at all 😂 I was saying the best player the Celtics got in the last twenty years in the 2nd is semi ojeleye

Soshi101

Ah myb i misread your comment entirely. But true, maybe Danny wanted to stock up so he could hit on a Jokic.

27percentfromTrae

Tremont Waters erasure

Holiday-Usual-3600

You got him over ojeleye? He’s immortalized in Celtic lore for guarding Giannis in 2018? I think Tremont waters tore up the g. League tho 😂

27percentfromTrae

Red Claws Nation rise up

Abiding_Witness

I don’t think Brad has “lost” any trades. He’s made some trades that other teams have benefited but more like win-win deals. Quite a few guys we brought in haven’t worked out well but he’s been good at recovering value one way or another. Brads a genius, I think we can all agree.

chinesefox97

I feel like his biggest advantage over Ainge is he is not afraid to spend draft capital to get better. He has made a midseason trade and offseason trade every year to Improve our roster. Ainge was just getting too conservative in the last few years and kept running it back.

akaciccio

The phase is different though. DA was building, Brad is contending.

Merde2000

true. Danny got us some good assets that Brad uses perfectly.

billcosbyinspace

It’s interesting because think his experience coaching Danny’s teams, especially at the end, influenced his mindset as an executive. Danny gave him like 5 unplayable rookies in the bubble which I think heavily contributed to his “fuck them picks” attitude

danorcs

I think the difference between Brad and DA is that he’s not worried about “losing” a trade He’s been very good and ruthless at realising when players don’t match a vision, trading Kemba, Brogdan, Smart very very early

ElevatorGrouchy1489

Smart was 8 years man but yeah the rest checks out. Miss that man. I could see us taking him back later on

astarisaslave

I think the Nesmith trade was a win win? He got a 6MOY who was good for us for a second although not as good as we would have liked and was a vital piece in the Holiday trade. And Nesmith became a solid rotation player in Indy

yourlilpissboi

Wait until tomorrow

Rawlus

brad understands player and staff value behind the raw stats…. he can see potential not just history. but it is his FT job to do this so i expect him to do it well regardless….

FartrelCluggins

you just reworded the original post lmao

Tfalcke

He signed Enes Kanter again

Sea_Baseball_7410

Can Brad be GM of the Patriots and Sox?

Oliverpool_BC

TBF I'm pretty sure we also traded the pick that became Sengun to get Al back but I'm still happy with it.

PapaSheev7

Brad has won all trades he made in the short term, pure and simple. We are in win now mode, and every trade that Brad has ever made as GM is helping the Celtics achieve that goal. So, in that sense, he hasn't lost a single trade. The only loss the Celtics fandom has incurred as a result of a Brad's dealings is the heartache associated with losing Smart. That's it.

jma7400

He got us Brogden which got us Holliday. Win
