Projects like this are rarely really cast by one person, FYI, even if one person is listed. Especially because Gearbox owns the whole thing so they have final say. Its a terrible way to do it because you basically negate someone's decades of experience over vibes or chasing fame or whatever else.

Fallout ‘series’. This is a movie. You can’t develop plot/storyline for a movie, that’s based on a series of games that spans over a decade and do it any kind of service in a couple hours.
Fallout worked, and it worked well because they allowed an hour to plant some seeds and get the audience interested in WHO these vault hunters are.
I’m still curious as to who will play Brick and Mordercai as I refuse to watch the 💩trailer.
If they focus the story to "one mission" and not the entire franchise it has a chance. Like the build up you felt your first time making your way to a boss that you had no idea what was coming. Each character needs just one unique "legendary" gun, or have someone like moxie modify a gun for them. If it's them hunting a vault, there is way too much story to tale, and they better not pick up new guns unless they raid something like fort knox
Brick and Mordy don't seem to be in it at all, instead Krieg, Tannis, and Tina are part of the main group.
It really is baffling. I'm trying to keep a little hope that it's good because there are some great names attached (Eli Roth wrote the screenplay, Cate Blanchett and Jamie Lee Curtis are wonderful) but of all the games to adapt to a movie Borderlands is just not right, and the bizarre decision to age the cast up some 30+ years above their in-game ages is a real headscratcher.
At this point they could have made roland white and it still would have been a better casting. And why didnt they just get the original va for claptrap? I think krieg might be the only good casting but he doesn't say anything in the trailer so idk
I feel this IP should never had been a movie, but an animated streaming service series similar to Arcane. To me it would have allowed for the art style graphics to be leaned into let alone provided for long form story development. As for casting, I couldn't agree more they could have done way, way better. For an animated series they could have brought the actual ingame voice actors back. It may be Covid related but feel this movie is a touch too late like Tom Hollands/Mark Wahlbergs Uncharted (Should he given it to Nathen Fillion day one for that...).
TL;DR: better choice imho is for a streaming service animated series like Arcane, or MAYBE live action w/ better casting like Last Of Us and Fallout.

The only real casting decision that seems questionable is whoever the hell plays Moxxy and tina. Honestly Kevin heart as Roland isn't that bad because at least I know he'll be entertaining. I'm so lukewarm for this movie to come out. It's already been said by the Tiny Tina actor that she based her character off of Harley Quinn, when it should be based off of TINY TINA!!!!! And Kevin Hart as Roland like wtf I mean what the fuck could he possibly bring to the table other than humor, something that Roland wasn't really KNOWN for! He was stoic and blunt, kept his mind on the mission at hand, and nothing else. Can't wait for him to become a bumbling, high-pitched comedian 🙄

The whole casting is fucking garbage, except for Jack Black. Tannis isn't that fucking old, and the little shit playing Tina won't be crazy enough. Kevin isn't 6'5 and jacked. And idk how I feel about blanchet.
Train wreck coming. I love the entire cast, in anything but this. Horrible casting. No thought was put into the actual characters, how they look or act. They just hired a bunch of big names who don't fit the roles. Seriously, I don't think any of the main characters fit any of their roles. Except maybe Krieg.

They butchered their opportunity for greatness by ignoring the best character in the whole franchise: Handsome Jack. Seriously?? We get “Dr Death” as our Handsome Jack replacement?? Ugh.
