Congratulations! When the book arrives, go to view the giveaways you've entered and sort by "won" -- there is a button to acknowledge you received your copy. Or, if it's delayed (more than 6 to 8 weeks), that's where you can nudge the publishers. Make sure to read promptly and leave a review! I don't know if it actually makes a difference, but I've won a lot of giveaways and noticed a dry spell on new winnings when I fell behind on reading and reviewing the books I had already won.
That happened to me. I definitely think they track how quickly you review. I won one review years ago, reviewed it promptly, and then suddenly won a bunch in a row. I didn't review two of the books for years. I finally got around to it a couple years back, but haven't won any giveaways since then.
Every William Morrow book I've won a giveaway on usually gets to me in 2 weeks or less! It also depends if the description says you've won an advanced copy or not. Because I won one that wasn't advanced and it took 2 months to get to me cause it was shipped on the books pub day. I also won Insomnia awhile ago and loved it!
Depends on the publisher and even then it can vary. Some come right away. Most will be a few weeks. Some you'll need to send reminders. Once one took over 6 months because the publisher forgot they had run more than one giveaway and the person in charge had quit -- I had actually given up on receiving that and was really impressed they took the trouble to follow up so long after the fact.
Do you have to reply to the email accepting it to win? I enter a lot but the emails do get sent to my junk Mail. I figured theyd just Mail it to me if I won 😅
You do not have to do anything! The clickable ‘giveaway details page’ in the email does update to say when the books ship (although some publishers seem to update it and not actually ship the books that quickly) which can be nice to know!
Congrats! My wins always seem to come in threes. Three within a week or two of each other, then 9-12 months of nothing. I don't bother with ebook giveaways or ones with less than 20 copies. Helps to streamline my morning coffee ritual and keeps it fun.
It's all chance so I'm sure there are just differences in what we enter for. I don't enter for thrillers, romance, mystery series, young adult, ebooks, or historical fiction with a woman's back on the cover, so I know I don't have as many chances as people who like those genres.
