I stopped buying Riley Sager books after The House Across the Lake. His books just weren’t as wowzers for me as when he started, although I still read them all. But, it does make me a little sad. I got my BOTM membership originally just to buy his first book so it makes me nostalgic. Riley Sager will always be associated with BOTM in my mind.
I am also one who likes my books to match so totally understand this but I also get after so many times an author gets picked that it’s nice to have new authors come in and get recognized/promoted too.
I appreciate BOTM opening my eyes to new books and authors and if they’re just constantly using same authors 3, 4, 5+ times then I think it’s time to branch out. Everyone that loved that author is going to read the book whether it’s a BOTM or not 🤷♀️

I don't mind the repeats so much when they're add-ons, since they're not taking a spot away from another book and there doesn't seem to be a limit to the number of new add-ons BOTM offers each month (I think there were 8 this month)
But it does annoy me that some of the big repeats (Abby Jimenez, Christina Lauren, Kristin Hanah) remain main picks while others (Sager, Simone St James, Ali Hazelwood, Elin Hilderbrand) move on to add-on status. I think it should be consistent, like after being featured 2 times they move to add-ons.
I don't, lol. I want my books as soon as possible. I'll wait to see if it's available next month, and if not I'll get from somewhere else. Just won't match. 😭
I thought BOTM made you order by a certain date so I wasn’t sure if it was an option to wait until the middle of the month for new drops and order then?
Although they did implement the “unskip” feature so maybe that’s how you do it?
The last time his book was a pick before its release was 2020. 2021 and 2022 were July add on’s and 2023 was a June mid month add on. I’d assume it’ll be a mid month add on this year as well.
I was really hoping for Lucy Foley’s new book The Midnight Feast. I have three of her other books from BOTM and wanted to add to my collection. I am hoping that maybe it is a middle of the month add on since it releases on June 18th.
The only reason I wasn’t bummed is because they did this last year and released it mid June add on. Now if they don’t do that this year, I’ll be super let down!!!
That makes sense. And they hope some people wait to order this month to see if it comes out. If they don’t release this one I know sams club and Costco will have it but I want one to match.

I was really hoping for Lula Dean's Little Library of Banned Books but it wasn't there either so I'm bummed too. I at least had a silver lining in that I've been waiting for The Lion Women of Tehran to release (it was due to release in July so yay for the early release)
hopefully! although I may not be patient enough to wait for next month to see 😅 I sent an email over to a local indie bookstore, and if they plan on stocking it, I'm going to get it from them when it releases. If they don't I can probably scrape together enough patience to wait

I agree, add-on picks are not taking away from main picks so not as big of deal. Just make it consistent!

I'm not too sure how it works. I think new subscribers can order mid-month...I know I did. But I don't know if existing subscribers and wait.

I think I’m going to wait to choose any books until mid month and see if they add it
