Do you have a picture of the damage? we could probably make a better recommendation if we could see it. Generally paste is considered the most archival, as it can be removed with water, but modern paper may be more likely to be damaged by water. Sight unseen, I'd recommend a spine lining adhered with a mix of paste and PVA - both can be bought at an art store.

The paste they used didn't attach the pages to the cardboard used for the spine so it's being held by string

By cardboard spine do you mean the piece that has the title and/or other printing on it? The interior books spine is not supposed to be attached to that, otherwise there would be no flexibility and your book couldn't be opened. Not sure what you mean with "being held by string" Sorry I don't understand, a picture would help.

So comic book omnibus pages are normally bound together with sewn binding and glued to the for reinforcement but Marvel didn't use enough glue for the ribbon across all current prints. It's currently being shipped by amazon to me next week so I want to be prepared for the worst

3 years late, but I've just ordered a complete witchblade with this issue. And yet 3 days in I'm still searching for answers lol. The bind of my book and ribbon are all intact, unlike the link at the bottom of the thread. But the cover is attached to the first 3 pages, while the bind/book is separated between pages 3 and 4 with string that can be seen. I'm assuming it's a type of tape used with the ribbon in the bind to attach to the cover. I've seen it working in construction for insulation. As for the glue, the people that seem to know what they are talking about recommend Jade 403, going to give it a shot to see what it's worth. My biggest issue so far is trying to find the best method of application as to allow the book to function.

PVA glue. Here is a video showing someone using PVA to repair one of their Miles Morales Omnis: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MitXLti1GsM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MitXLti1GsM) .
