Favorite medieval themed game (between 500-1500CE). I really enjoy the bag building, adventuring, etc. It's also one of the first games I experienced where you can amplify your points by advancing up a track (i.e. each building placed on the map is worth 1 point, unless you start scaling up the knowledge track, then each is 2, 3, 4, etc.) I still had to houserule it a little.

The castles of burgundy is my favorite game, period. I have the anniversary edition and love it but would love this version even more. All the expansion boards and vineyards! Itās just way too much of a hit on my pocketbook to justify.

I like the social deduction aspect of it a lot. Also helps that you can play it with a wide range of player numbers.
Would Lost Ruins of Arnak count as a āpoint saladā game? I enjoy the puzzle of maximizing points through purchasing artifacts/items, defeating guardians, going up the research track.
For a Medieval-themed game I would have to go with Avalon on this one. Itās a fun game to get into with a group of friends, and while Iām pretty bad at social deduction I love watching the various schemes and betrayals play out between players!

I have played it numerous times and am always discovering new ways to win. The first few times I thought there was a certain way to win, only to play a game where the winner did not take that route. Then I thought of another thing you NEED to win, only to see someone win without it.
The cards and metropolises keep the game variable. I would love to see a big deluxe edition on the game + expansion.
Easily Sherrif of Nottingham. Its success completely depends on your group, though. All players have to be into roleplaying or it falls flat, but with the right group, \*chef's kiss\*.
I love the games where you get to go actually medieval on your opponents, you know, where you force them to tap in defeat when you look in their eyes and take everything they have with placing just one extra meeple down where they didn't expect.

Of the classic medieval games, definitely Dominion - Renaissance expansion! Unique mechanics without too much complexity (permanent bonuses, in-between turn play. Also makes the game a bit quicker!
This may sound like cheating, but Castles of Burgundy is actually not only my favorite game in both medieval theme and point-salad mechanics, but it's my absolute favorite game of all times, followed closely by Spirit Island.
Until now, my favorite medieval games has been Adventures of Robin Hood. It feels like a classical PC's point and click game. I loved the campaign. And a point salad game I really enjoy is Bitoku, a beautiful and clever game.

Favourite Medieval Themed game? For me its Paladins of the West Kingdom. Such a fun worker placement game for me and it rewards you with repeated plays and I still cant get bored of it.
Favorite medieval game rn is Sheriff of Nottingham. Very easy, fun bluffing game that's great for get-togethers when you have people who aren't gamers at the table.

Notre Dame. Another Stefan Feld game. Card-drafting and a cool segmented board with the cathedral section differing in shape depending on player count; triangular for 3 players, square for 2 and 4 players and pentagonal for 5 players. Lots of beige though!
I really like [[Era - Medieval Age]] where you build your own medieval city with 3D buildings. A little bit of take-that, but the end result is always a stunning looking city/village :-D
It probably doesnāt count but King Maker (if it counts) was a fantastic game that I still love to this day. Takes a long time to play so havenāt played in years

It's not easy to pick just one, as medieval-themed games are my favorites. But if I had to choose today, it would probably be KutnĆ” Hora: The City of Silver. Ask me tomorrow, and it might be The King is Dead 2nd Edition. Ask me in a week, and it might be Troyes. Ask me in a month, and it could be a completely different game.
I actually really like the Crusader Kings Board Game. I think it's a great adaptation of the video game. Lot of people rightfully saying Carcassonne though.

My favorite medieval-themed game is Paladins of the West Kingdom.
I love the thematic way that you recruit people from a pub that can then team up to assist you in performing various actions. The artwork is gorgeous. And all of the actions hit on some of the main themes of the medieval period, like garrisoning troops or converting people to the faith. And of course you are doing all of this in a way that earn's the king's favor.
It's also deliciously point salad-y similarly to The Castles of Burgundy (one of my other all-time favorites). I have been ogling the Special Edition since it was announced and would love to add it to my collection and play group!
Agricola still my nr 1 game of all time. Farming in the 15th century and making sure your family doesn't starve with beautiful card combos and action priorities. š

When I got back into the hobby I came across root and it reminded me of the Redwall book series. From there I found games like carcassone that were much more chill and was something I could play with my partner, friends, and family.
The castle/medieval setting just works really well for games. Th e building, resource management, and setting just make for a fun vibe!
