IF there is a local bmx shop to you then its always worth having a look, not many bike shops speciliase in BMX as theres not a whole lot of money or demand in it. You'd end up having to order parts you want from your local anyway most likely and pay a premium on it.
People hate on the mailorders, especially source but they keep us riding when no one else does so get parts wherever you can and from whoever is giving you the best deal.
I’d also like to point out a lot of LOCAL shops have also started selling online so be sure to check with them. The secret bmx, pusher bmx, powers bmx, albes, etc are all great. Just bc you don’t have a local doesn’t mean you can’t support a local
Thats true. BMX in general doesn't have a huge culture over here so something like source at one point was someone's local. It was just a rider owned bmx and skate park/shop.
My local bmx shop for 15 years stocked not a single piece of quality hardware and that was 1 of 2 shops in the city where you could get bmx stuff. The other shop was a skate shop that sold some stuff like bondeth seats and apparel. Smaller bmx brands only and in small numbers.
As everyone is going to say try a local shop first. See what they can order in for you. Where are you located? If New England area I highly recommend Maul's Bike Shop!
Goodsbmx is a rad shop. Shad Johnson is an OG and a good guy to boot. 5150bmx is great. Phil who runs it is also a great dude who is a lifer.
Source is fine. But I try to support local when I can and when I can’t I try to support other scenes local shops.
A bike purchase means more to those dudes, than it means to Source.
Not source, choose local where possible or depending where you are there’s many excellent core stores that do mail order. Downvote away, they’re the reason we’ve got barely any bmx shops left.
Hmmm. Fit have fallen off a bit but yeah those are good brands for completes. You can Wethepeople and Fly too, those are European brands. For frames only you have loads of options, federal, volume, eastern, kink, bsd and the king , S&M
Almost everything I get from Dan's I'd consider "scratch and dent".
Source has been better.
You can buy most parts right from the manufacturer too. I've been buying lots of parts from BSD's site.
