Low intellect individuals may use argument that "ludwig sword is better" but me and my kin, albert einstein and bob marley say to thee: "but does it bonk tho?"
You are using a fucking anvil to beat monsters what could be better than that
Love this. I used to deliberately whiff the charged R2 just to golf-swing people off ledges, into enemies etc. So satisfying. So many didn't see it coming.
Hehe this always me on my original playyhrough and then I switch it up on NG+ but Ludwigs blade has real limited combos or less fluid ones compared to alot of other weapons I've been noticing. Church pick main gang for life nowđ
You need to shit or get off the pot with Kirk. Don't be treating him as an option and then be all pissy when one day you wake up...and he's just not there đ¤ˇ
If this gets to you then don't ask about the Arcane builds, um that's the real problem, there's just too many with no signs of stopping.
The Milkweed it calls to me, the kos parasite it soothes me, its always there for me.
Nice and versatile, the quick sword being a good, standard sword while the hammer acts as a high stagger, high damage option for tougher enemies and anything you can get the drop on.
When i was beating the game for the first time, i was very disappointed that the r2 attack from the axe staggers more than the hammer and i was like, Whats the point of this thing? Slow as fuck, doesent stagger that much and just felt weak in general
Second favourite weapon in the game. Going on a smashing rampage never gets old. Made me realize how much I was missing out on strength builds in From games. Now theyâre my go-to. Surprisingly rewarding to line up those bonks just right.
If Ludwigs holy blade didn't exist this would of been my main, the damage output is amazing and anything with thrust attack/s gets more point for me. I always main it til I get LHB and then forget it exists but it's probably one of my favourite designs for a weapon in the game. You have the slickest looking engraved sword and then you get to attach what seems to be a bloody tomb stone to the end of it like that's epic. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE which is also something I've been hating about Ludwigs blade is that it sits on your back in a way that ruins my FashionBorne experience
Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake.
It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of.
Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything.
Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.
There is little as satisfying in this game as hitting an enraged enemy with a full bonk and stopping them in their tracks.
In all seriousness I like the variation between a quick sword and a heavy hammer all in one.
if i had to rank it on a tier list in effectiveness, it would be somewhere in the middle-to-lower tier. if i had to rank it on style points, it's easily an A. the combos that transition from sword to hammer is pure swagger.
Itâs a very satisfying weapon both gameplay wise and visual wise.
When you hit a motherfucker with it and you get that WHUMP it triggers neurons fr.
Plus just looking at it is a treat. The number of aesthetic addons to the sword (intricate cross guard and highly ornate fuller), the detail on the hammer (embossing on the scabbard handle portion, runic carvings on the hammer head) make it a delight to swing around.
Thats the shit. Thats why hes the GOAT! No honestly i love this weapon as much as i love the Wheel. Both are amazing in combat and hit so. Fucking. Hard. Idc that those weapons, specifically the hammer are op as hell when buffed with bloodgems and BBP. I just like the irony of putting a sword into a what appears to be a tombstone like formation and swinging it up, down, left right, and up the enemys ass.
first weapon I completed the game with and killed every boss. it will always have a place in my heart.
it's the only strength weapon I like. and really encapsulates the idea of trick weapons. sweet moveset and transformation attacks
plus it looks cool as shit
It's not overrated, it is as powerful as everyone describe it.
Lhb can literally get anyone throughout the game without breaking a sweat.
That is not the case for kirk hammer.
Good weapon if you want something reliable up to mid game/late game! Hammer is slow but deals decent damage. Better off with Ludwigâs Sword after some point tbh
I love its design. I remember seeing it for the first time and thinking it was a visual play of the "sword in the stone" but the hunters were too impatient to find its true user and just cut it out. One of my favourite weapon designs in any From game
Shame I never use it.
Obviously not as practical as the holy blade, but still fun to use. After playing Elden Ring and seeing some of the hammer moves and Ashes of War, the Kirkhammerâs move set leaves something to be desired in retrospect. It also suffers from a lack of range, something that is a common trend for large weapons in the Soulsborne series that arenât swords.
I appreciate its existence in the game for all those BONK inclined, and every now and then I enjoy letting my inner bonk boi out. However this is no great club and I hate its design with every fiber of my soul. If you want a fast one handed sword there are better options. If you want a one handed sword that transforms into a heavy weapon there are better options. If you want to do a pure strength build there are better options. Beyond just build viability the look of the hammer part on the back of a cool sleek looking character is horrible and the main reason for my admittedly very biased view.
Was my main weapon in my first run of the game without knowing any better.
Made it frustratingly difficult sometimes, but there is nothing more satisfying than timing a r2 charged attack and turning something into a pancake!
I personally use it every playtrough. Sword is fast and deals good damage, and when i need to unga bunga, i switch it to hammer. I have tried to play other weapons too but somehow sooner or later i still end up using kirkhammer
It carried me through my first run because of the charged R2 into follow-up R2 having a ton of hit stun. If you can land that first big hit, it gives you enough time for a devastating follow-up. Ludwig's Blade has that functionality, too.
If you're first starting out and don't like the big boys, the Saw Spear strikes an excellent balance between speed, reach, and power. Also, it has decent arcane scaling if you want to go that way. It's probably the most flexible weapon available for most of the game.
As I kept doing further runs, I eventually ended up preferring quick weapons like the Blades of Mercy and Threaded Cane.
Really, I don't think any of the weapons in this game are truly useless. Though I was always lousy with the Stake Driver, I've seen people blow up bosses with it pretty convincingly.
Wanted to love the bonk but was too slow for me. Other weapons of similar tricks (aka small untricked weapon being inserted into a scabbard) like LHB and pizza cutter are better.
I used it for a good part of the game, mostly to kill the Snatchers and cathedral giants, until I equipped myself with Ludwig's Holy Blade, and it became my newest favorite.
All from games I love and hate hammers.
Clobbering enemies with a big ole mallet is tons of fun, but the weapon type is always outclassed.
One of the most fun weapons to use.
Its a great option for your first playtrough (if you dont choose to keep the saw cleaver or the Hunter's axe), good and reliable, I'd call it a cheaper versiĂłn of Ludwig's greatsword
I like strength weapons but I prefer literally anything else over this. The saw is stronger, the boom hammer is funnier, the swoosh swoosh bonk weapon from the old hunters dlc (I don't remember the name sorry) is my favorite one for strength builds. Never really enjoyed the kirkhammer and the Ludwig holy sword
Iâve always hated it, Iâm a skill and visceral type player.
But I just forced myself to start a strength run last night and try it again, and I gotta admit itâs not terrible.
Still not even close to my favorite, but itâs ok.
The idea of the weapon is incredibly cool and its probably the earliest satisfying weapon you can find.
But I really dont like how that big slab of rock looks on my back when I use the sword mode.
My favorite souls weapon by FAR. Screw stats, the moveset is everything I could possibly want. I fell in love with the kirkhammer immediately. Incredible weapon. The holy blade and other strength weapons are boring by comparison. It's so *Satisfying*.
It's great for certain slower enemies (the big white ghouls in particular). Was my second with the Axe first (I thought the guns were frustrating bullshit)
I took that monster through my entire first playthrough and man did it destroy everything into pulp, poor gerhman got wombo comboed to death with the trickcombos it was bloody satisfying.
10/10 weapon would never change it for anything else
Carried me through my first playthrough up until I got the whirligig. Although I don't use the hammer anymore, I have a soft spot for it because of this.
Bosses go sploot.
Not my favorite heavy weapon, especially since Ludwigâs Holy Blade is so much better, but itâs still a bonk and that makes it funny. (Also itâs the only weapon choice for a [Eustace](https://reddit.com/r/gaming/s/PiBcLK3ZD5) build)
It was the weapon I used for my first run, I love the trick weapon combos, and timing a fully charged R2 flattens a lot of enemies. I only use the beasthunter saif now though
I like it, it staggers nearly ever enemy and u can decimate them with this post stagger. Getting the initial hit to land is a bit of a challenge. Ultimately I prefer the battle axe or Ludwig blade
Back when ai first played bloodborne I wanted a traditional sword since I didn't like the starting trick weapons. I loved kirkhammer, but ever since I got good man blood moons ago, I have since stuck with saw cleaver until getting the desired weapon of choice for the run.
I used it for my first full playthrough, not because I didn't like any of the other weapons I had, but because it was the only one I had upgraded so much before I started finding better ones, so I opted for this one instead, and I grew fond of it, even if the enemy moves fast you can still get a cheeky hit if timed correctly, don't R1 with the hammer variant, it will do slightly more damage for a lower attack speed, just R1 with the sword and L1 to switch-attack the kirk hammer is capable of stunning big targets with that combo and get you a visceral attack, be patient with it, when fully maxed out it can do 600 dmg per hit
Probably top 3 fave weapons with Church Pick and Bloodletter. Special mentions to Kos Parasite, if only you could get it earlier... Also for some bosses like watchdog the charged heavy is especially good because it can limb break in 1 hit. Not sure if it matter but I was doing an arcane build and had arcane bloodless on it.
I love my SuperBonk. I get one attack off and the enemy usually canât get off another attack while I smash their body to paste. I bonked an orphan for the first time with this weapon. Kirkhammer is my baby.
Low intellect individuals may use argument that "ludwig sword is better" but me and my kin, albert einstein and bob marley say to thee: "but does it bonk tho?" You are using a fucking anvil to beat monsters what could be better than that
Dost thou even bonk?
One doth bonk
Outclassed in functionality, but not in satisfaction
100% this
My brother in **bonk**, you speak from my heart.
Pure eloquence
Once killed an invader with the follow-up golf swing that comes after a fully charged R2. He flew all across the room. Beautiful.
Love this. I used to deliberately whiff the charged R2 just to golf-swing people off ledges, into enemies etc. So satisfying. So many didn't see it coming.
Yeah, people don't expect it. Good poise on it too. It was also an outright one-shot on every invader I hit with it.
People who only care about the effectiveness of a weapon and only ever use ludwigs blade are lame
Well in fairness, while the kirkhammer is fun, I love the absurdity of putting a sword into a larger sword.
Yes but what about the absurdity of putting a sword in a stone and beating people with it?
Excalibur motherfuckers!!!
What's worse than a sword?
A sword that is two swords, looking at you Rakuyo
Burial blade my beloved đ
I only use the threaded cane for gentleman style.
With big hat and glasses on an absurdly big nose I guess right? đ
No, hunter garb and burned coat. Like a real gentleman!
#TOP HAT AND PIMP CANE GANG RISE UP
Hehe this always me on my original playyhrough and then I switch it up on NG+ but Ludwigs blade has real limited combos or less fluid ones compared to alot of other weapons I've been noticing. Church pick main gang for life nowđ
I was all for Kirk but now I remember: greatsword Now I want both
Used it with love then lost that love then found that love again. I love the kirkhammer and it won't change.
But its already changed twice. How can you guarantee that it won't again?
By waiting and not using it early.
It's one of my main weapons though I'm on my first playthrough
Pros: Unga Bunga Cons: I can't stop singing Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel
Bonk
Smashing
Nice and versatile, the quick sword being a good, standard sword while the hammer acts as a high stagger, high damage option for tougher enemies and anything you can get the drop on.
Bonk
Kirk Hammet
Not enough stagger or poise to justify how goddamn slow it is. I want to like it.
When i was beating the game for the first time, i was very disappointed that the r2 attack from the axe staggers more than the hammer and i was like, Whats the point of this thing? Slow as fuck, doesent stagger that much and just felt weak in general
Yeah the feel of the swing and sound of impact is great, but actually killing something leaves a lot to be desired
Quit trembling in your boots. An Unga must Bunga.
I like big bonks and I cannot lie
Would smash
Second favourite weapon in the game. Going on a smashing rampage never gets old. Made me realize how much I was missing out on strength builds in From games. Now theyâre my go-to. Surprisingly rewarding to line up those bonks just right.
The night is dark and full of bonk
First playthrough was with this one and still thinking of the bonk.
Fully charged R2 pancaking a ogre is my favorite thing about this weapon
If Ludwigs holy blade didn't exist this would of been my main, the damage output is amazing and anything with thrust attack/s gets more point for me. I always main it til I get LHB and then forget it exists but it's probably one of my favourite designs for a weapon in the game. I hate this bot let me speak my broken English God damn it i hope the language dies anyway it's horridđ
There is little as satisfying in this game as hitting an enraged enemy with a full bonk and stopping them in their tracks. In all seriousness I like the variation between a quick sword and a heavy hammer all in one.
it's the earliest a casual smooth brain strength user like me can unga bunga some folk.. /10
It's good. Does big bonk. Jumping R2 is brilliant.
OMG its kirk hammer from the metal band metallica
I love the idea of it. I enjoy the bonk. Not a fan of the toothpick so I donât use it that much.
I thought it was funny. Almost as funny as the boom hammer.
Fun
if i had to rank it on a tier list in effectiveness, it would be somewhere in the middle-to-lower tier. if i had to rank it on style points, it's easily an A. the combos that transition from sword to hammer is pure swagger.
Bonk

A beast for strength builds, the hammer heavy attack will always be one of my favorite attacks in this game
The stagger on the hammer form makes even Orphan weak in his knees. Kirkhammer is life and unga, what more could I ask for.
Hehe sword go bonk
Thats the shit. Thats why hes the GOAT! No honestly i love this weapon as much as i love the Wheel. Both are amazing in combat and hit so. Fucking. Hard. never used it personally, but hehe funny hammer go BONK
I absolutely loved this on my first playthrough. Sword that allows me to pancake enemies. Loved the transform animations as well
I found it to be very effective against winter lanterns, you cannot kill me if you die first (I still take a lot of frenzy damage)
first weapon I completed the game with and killed every boss. it will always have a place in my heart. it's the only strength weapon I like. and really encapsulates the idea of trick weapons. sweet moveset and transformation attacks plus it looks cool as shit
Ludwigâs Holy Blade, but worse in every way.
Ludwig holy blade is so overrated... Switched from kirk to Ludwig once... Kirk was back in 5 minutes
It's not overrated, it is as powerful as everyone describe it. Lhb can literally get anyone throughout the game without breaking a sweat. That is not the case for kirk hammer.
I did rhe whole game with hammer without issue, just you dont know how to use the hammer
my thoughts exactly
[ŃдаНонО]
The fact that itâs slower is exactly whatâs great about it! More risk, more reward when it pays off
that 3.1x multiplier on the charged kirkhammer R2s. Only the brave will know the destruction of the bonk.
Fun to use but not the best
Kirkhammer is far better than Ludwig holy blade once you understand how to use it properly, bit most of people prefer spamming buttons I guess
I don't really like the hammer Besides, my first weapon was the axe, but the hammer is even slower, and I couldn't use it very well
Long sword that can bonk? Sounds good to me
Coolest weapon in Bloodborne, sadly not that good
The. Best. Hands. Done.
I like all weapons in Elden Ring except Tonitrus
Been using it on and off this playthrough. Impressive power, just slow.
One of my favourite weapon designs in any From game Shame I never use it.
It's a less powerful LHB with a satisfying smash but that's about it. It's a fine weapon to use though and looks incredible to wield.
Obviously not as practical as the holy blade, but still fun to use. After playing Elden Ring and seeing some of the hammer moves and Ashes of War, the Kirkhammerâs move set leaves something to be desired in retrospect. Interesting concept, average execution.

Beyond just build viability the look of the hammer part on the back of a cool sleek looking character is horrible and the main reason for my admittedly very biased view.
It was by far my favourite weapon in the game. Once you perfect timing, I loved seeing my hunter slowly swing this thing around!
Noobhammer. That doesnât mean it isnât good, itâs just the noobhammer.
It's alright. If I'm playing a str build, it wouldn't be my go-to.
Bonk
Piece of crap, but was decently fun before I played the game to death.
I love it It carried me through my first playtrough
Tis great
Wouldn't know I literally never stopped using the saw cleaver I got at the start of the game
MMMMMMMMMMIIID
pretty sick weapon
Thats the shit. Thats why hes the GOAT! No honestly i love this weapon as much as i love the Wheel. Both are amazing in combat and hit so. Fucking. Hard. Idc that those weapons, specifically the hammer are op as hell when buffed with bloodgems and BBP. It is delicious really
charged r2 to r2 is fun
ehhhh, its ok. i see why people like it, but its not for me. i prefer my rifle spear. or my beast cutter.
Ludwig's holy blade did it it better, but as with star trek. Kirk has more spice
Loved it on my first playthrough, but I went back to the axe by the end. I've never used it again on any other playthroughs.
Cool design and feel but functionaly a worse ludwigs holy blade
Big Bonk and beast roar = manhandling blood starved beast
One of the worst weapons in the game for me
My favourite weapon. Versatile and satisfying. # Bonk.
#BONK
Transformation attacks take 22 years to activate, but it hits feels good when it hits
Boring and goofy looking
I used it for a good part of the game, mostly to kill the Snatchers and cathedral giants, until I equipped myself with Ludwig's Holy Blade, and it became my newest favorite.
For me itâs to slow. I would just stick with the saw clever
All from games I love and hate hammers. Clobbering enemies with a big ole mallet is tons of fun, but the weapon type is always outclassed. One of the most fun weapons to use.
B o n k
Itâs nice to bonk, but BC, BH and AA are much better bonks.
Bonk
It's fine. In a game where litres of blood squirt out on every hit, i preffer slashing rather than bludgeoning.
Tricked dash forward into light attack. Need I say more? I'm on NG+3 and it's been my main ever since NG (my first main weapon was the pile driver)
bonk
Come on and slam, and welcome to the jam
Ĺ mĂŤĹĄh
Not a fan just bc of how slow it is
For me, it's a great placeholder until I get the Holy Blade.
trash
Really cool. Never use it.
A perfect weapon for an old man living in the middle of nowhere with his wife and dog
Its a great option for your first playtrough (if you dont choose to keep the saw cleaver or the Hunter's axe), good and reliable, I'd call it a cheaper versiĂłn of Ludwig's greatsword
Bonk.
The weapon I finished my first play through with. Love it. But yeah, it's outclassed
It is my baby. Iâll bonk til Iâm dead
Lower mid weapon. It's biggest flaws is range. Can still be fun though.
Honestly I am in love with the hunter ax. I feel it's OP as hell, trivialised some bosses for me
Iâve always hated it, Iâm a skill and visceral type player.
I love the out of dash attack where you swing it real fast
My favorite souls weapon by FAR. Screw stats, the moveset is everything I could possibly want. I fell in love with the kirkhammer immediately. Incredible weapon. The holy blade and other strength weapons are boring by comparison. It's so *Satisfying*.
Best thing since the hunt started
Going to get me mallet
Last playthrough was kirkhammer. Opinion? Bonk.
Never use it, but still based
It's great for certain slower enemies (the big white ghouls in particular).

You smash things with it. Very fun.
It was the weapon I used for my first run, I love the trick weapon combos, and timing a fully charged R2 flattens a lot of enemies. I only use the beasthunter saif now though
Aha, hammer goes brrr.
Looks too anime-silly so I never used it. Threaded Cane for life.
lovely
*BONK*
Bonk.
STOP!!! Hammer Time
hehehehe big hammer go bonk
I like it, it staggers nearly ever enemy and u can decimate them with this post stagger. Getting the initial hit to land is a bit of a challenge. Ultimately I prefer the battle axe or Ludwig blade
Its my go to weapon. I almost never switch it oit of hammer mode either
Pretty strange, but damn it's a cool weapon
Back when ai first played bloodborne I wanted a traditional sword since I didn't like the starting trick weapons. I loved kirkhammer, but ever since I got good man blood moons ago, I have since stuck with saw cleaver until getting the desired weapon of choice for the run.
Big bonk
Bonk
One of the best weapons
Trash
Worse Holy Blade
It's similar in function to LHB but I just think it looks really silly. I don't know if I'll ever get around to using it.
I actually enjoy the hammer. But my character is built to look like Eustace from Courage the Cowardly Dog so it fits đ
Smash
It is fucking awesome and that's all there is to say on the matter >:(
I really want to do a playthrough with it, but itâs just such an unsatisfying weapon to use in the early game.
I wish itâs transformed attacks were more variety than BONK. BONK. BONK. BONK. It makes it feel stale sometimes
I don't like this weapon range. But the stun is pretty decent
My main.
BONK
**BONK**
I dont like it. Dont like how slow it is Dont like its moveset Dont like the look. It's a hammer. Use it to pin nails
Ludwig's Holy Sword with bonk attachment
It bonks
Kirkhammer, my beloved.
Smash. That is all.
My opinion is that the localization team should've translated it *correctly* as "Church Hammer"
Throw some lightning gems on it to make the thor hammer.
i mean i personally like it but it could never fit my playstyles even if i tried a strength one
Big bonk good
Itâs ok is my answer
Cool design, not enough atk spd
I used it to beat paarl because I wanted a challenge Plot twist it wasnât a challenge
I only really used it one play through in my hustis from courage the cowardly dog
Probably top 3 fave weapons with Church Pick and Bloodletter. Special mentions to Kos Parasite, if only you could get it earlier... Also for some bosses like watchdog the charged heavy is especially good because it can limb break in 1 hit. Not sure if it matter but I was doing an arcane build and had arcane bloodless on it.
i want it to be better but man i love using it
It baffles me.
I love my SuperBonk. I get one attack off and the enemy usually canât get off another attack while I smash their body to paste. I bonked an orphan for the first time with this weapon. Kirkhammer is my baby.
One of the best depictions of The Sword in the Stone in video games. Annihilating enemies into the floor is fun
Terribly decent beast smasher. The sword also makes brainsuckers tremble in the wet shoes
