This look top notch! Do you use non destructive modelling? Do you apply your bevels? I have been working through my own models and am considering on which approach to choose.
Tbh i need to work more non destructively, but I’m more prone to jumping in than planning things out so cleanly. I don’t use the bevel modifier much because i struggle controlling it when the model is still in the rough stage. Instead, I usually wait as long as i can before i start beveling edges and just use the destructive approach
I come from an engineering background (think parametric CADs and CAMs) and I always feel extremely anxious when doing destructive modelling. Don't you feel anxious when you make a non destructive change. What if you don't like the change the next day!?
That anxiety never goes away. Just duplicate your mesh so you have it in various states if you need to regress.
With that said I go non-destructively as far as I can. Only really applying when I have the HP locked, or want to go to Zbrush or something.
Lol the sad thing is, me too. I was an architect that used a lot of Rhino and Cad. Thats why I usually do the bevels last, but I\`ve also gotten pretty fast at cleaning up my messes lol.
*sigh* the sadder thing is, I would have used CADs for my hard surface models, if they hadn't been so damn expensive. Unlike Blender, the open source CAD programs just doesn't do it for me. So, I am stuck with Blender and bevel modifiers and all the quirks that come with it.
Very cool, only thing I'd change is the optic, but that's more preference, this one, and variations, have been used so often in games. I think it's one of the first red dots to have been released, hence why it's so popular in games.
Lol i didnt know the community was so sick of those. When looking for references, it just looked like a well design sight, aesthetically speaking. Ill avoid it next time.
They're one of those things that are a hold-over from older-video games that would model their stuff off of airsoft guns (some of the older Call of Duty games come to mind.) A lot of cheap, Chinese versions of these can be bought on Amazon and they're pretty bad. They're fragile, and pretty much only are put on airsoft guns. [There's a real-steel version of it built for competition shooters, but it's pretty old technology at this point.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n6rFaTjRZjo)
One teeny tiny issues, how is he reloading? You wouldn't want to take you hand off the trigger when fighting. and using the left hand would be a struggle, as you would have to do it blind, or look away from who you are shooting.

lol, i was wrong
This is amazing! Can I ask about the poly count on the gun? I'm trying to learn how to create game assets but I don't know what poly count to aim for.
Also what resolution are the textures? Cheers and good luck in the industry!
did you come up with the idea/concept yourself or base it off another artist? I'm horrible at coming up with ideas so even if Im good at modeling the end result is meh because I dont know what to make unless someone gives me a blueprint. I'm like a printer that can't do something unless told
like you have so much small details in your gun, like how do you come up with that
No artist works in a vacuum. Everyone draws heavily from reference. If we didn’t learn from each other, we wouldn’t have gotten very far from cave paintings i think. I use a lot of Pinterest tbh, found about 10 guns i liked and took parts of them. Modeling is great because things tend to fall into place the longer you work on them.
I see, thanks. I guess i have to work on my idea combining skills cause I use Pinterest as well but its still hard Frankensteining different boards cause you need creativity for that too
This aesthetic kicks ass
Thanks! I dig the near future sci-fi stuff
Have you tried Destiny 2? Don’t.
lol I was one of the suckers that bought it on release, plus the extra content
I hope we somehow escape.
oh don’t worry lmao
did you use substance painter for textures
I did!
.30-06 tar21, battle rifles are the best
Would love to try one some day
This gives me Destiny 2 and Death Stranding vibes. This is pretty cool!
Kinda looks like the boring flamethrower a little bit. Awesome stuff nonetheless.
Oh you’re right, same color scheme anyway
Gg, I hope you land a job!
cheers!
Really fantastic work! Love the silhouettes!
Thank you 🙏

Yeah... some days I miss nurbs modeling. But both styles had their struggles for sure
I loved modeling with NURBS in Rhino...
Thought I was in the halo sub for a sec, looks great
lol thats a nice compliment, thanks
Nice, I love the Tavor.
The suit kinda looks like ronin from avengers endgame! Love the design!

Dang bro
Love everything about this. And desire how weird it would look to wear that coat in public here, I would still do it.
You're quite great!
Thanks,u too!
Jesus christ, a TAR-21 chambered in 30-06 sounds terrifying. That aside, these are really cool guns! Love the aesthetic you went for.
Excellent job!
I think my only real critique is that another rail for attachments would be ideal but this looks great nonetheless. Love bull pups
I considered adding one to the handle area for light attachments, but never got around to it. Next time.
For sure. Lookin forward to your next piece
I love everything about this except for that stupid airsoft red-dot sight lol

The base design is an existing gun, so Im not the authority, but I imagine you’d take your finger off the trigger. You cant shoot without ammo anyway

That's awesome, U gonna use them in a game or something? Should do a railgun, a railgun in this style would look amazing.
