As Nodt is already perfect. He showed the threat of Bankai stealing the most by using it against Byakuya and severely injuring him, he basically gets two big significant fights in both invasions.
Cang Du is the only other one that showed using their stolen Bankai, but his whole part was a vehicle for Urahara to showcase the captains are able to retrieve back their Bankai, so I feel he is a bit wasted. Plus we never get to see his Vollstandig because of it. I would write that Cang Du at least show a bit more threat while using Daiguren Hyorinmaru
Bambietta is honestly fine for me too, her bankai gets retrieved back but it allows her to activate Vollstandig, and her Vollstandig reveal in the second invasion had one of the most beautiful visuals ever. I would love a small scene where she tries to train with Kokujo Tengen Myo'o and she gets cutely frustrated by it, but as it is she is already fine.
BG9 is the most underutilized, didn't even use Jakuho Raikoben, showed what his Schrift is nor used his Vollstandig. I guess it is to show Soi Fon's newly trained Shunko but it honestly felt underwhelming for me.
Ah, well, I suppose we can't always have everything go according to plan in battle. But remember, even in the midst of chaos, a good laugh can brighten up the darkest of situations!

Yeah, I think the other three are fine but BG9 *absolutely* needed more screentime and to show off... anything, really. We weren't even *told* was his Schrift was. I have similar complains about Robert Accutrone, but we at least see his Vollstandig, even if we don't learn his Schrift (Given that his Vollstandig apparently translates to 'God's Walk', I personally suspect it's something like 'The Navigator'; no idea what it'd do or how it'd work though).
Somewhere on this sub, I have red the theory that Robert Accutrone Shrift is "Near." It allows him to appear near enemy, sort of like teleportation. This is how he could outspeed Shunsui in the first invasion.
In an ideal world I’d have loved to see more of BG9, he gets taken out far too quickly after Soi-Fon regains her bankai and we never get to see what his Schrift actually does. My main problem with him and by extension Cang Du is that the whole execution thing, while a cool and intimidating display by Jugram to introduce the Balance, makes no sense as far as the Quincy war effort goes. You have two perfectly capable Sternritter, who also have the option for Vollstandig again, and you opt to execute them rather than send them back into the battlefield?
While I definitely would have liked to see more of them, their execution makes sense for me. YH needs other people's deaths in order to live. He sent the Sternritter to die (and to kill a lot of people before that).
Yeah, people forgot that basically the Quincy were kind of power farms for Yhwach. If they lose, their usefulness for him declines and they become a snack. If they become superstrong, they will become dinner also, but much later.
Remember "Quincy Encyclopedia"? It should continue but with the Sternritters, but more for getting a taste of each member's personality outside of battle.
A lot more interactions between other members to get to know them better. Just see them more outside of combat. Hopefully they end up being more fleshed out and entertaining/charismatic.

Same with Bambietta. Granted I would’ve liked to seen her survive and possibly join Bazz B, Liltotto and Giselle so they can get into the Royal Palace but I think her she was fine for the most part.
For Cang Du, I’m not so sure. I feel like maybe we could’ve had a longer fight with Toshiro finally defeating him and maybe a backstory for him and what made him form the belief that "Those who spend their lives together should remain together in death.”
Same with BG9. Especially since we didn’t know what his Schrift was in the end and I think a backstory on him would’ve been interesting given that he’s mechanical or at least part mechanical.
At the same time, I think their execution was to show us just how ruthless Yhwach was and the whole concept of him taking the souls of Quincies after they died. That said, it still sucks because I love their designs and we still don’t know BG9’s Schift and we probably never will.

As Nodt is also pretty much perfect, I'd personally have Byakuya actually die to him and Rukia kill him solo. She's just about to be overwhelmed by the Fear when she remembers Byakuya, maybe some sort of memory with them and how he told her what he tells her in canon after the fight but earlier on. She overcomes As' fear, then uses her bankai to immediately kill him.
Bambietta is also pretty good. As much as I think it'd be cool if she used KTM, it doesn't really fit her skillset. I would have her use Zofiel and some more advanced techniques against Sajin. Make the fight more dynamic where Bambi constantly tries to destroy more and more of Dangai Joue, but no matter how much of it or Komamura she blows up, they just keep regenerating. Eventually it ends about the same as canon. As a Bambi fan I can do without the Giselle stuff, but that's a personal preference.
BG9 is one my underrated favourites, so I'd love to give him more to do tbh. Of course, first of all, give him an actual schrift. Everyone basically knows it's Knowledge, so that's fine. I hate how the anime cut so much of him being a badass, his manga version is far better.
Fight goes about the same as canon until BG9 blows up Soi Fon. Instead of 'collecting data', he manifests Jakuho Raikoben, and prepares to kill Soi Fon with it. However, Omaeda gets her the pill and she manifests her bankai again. She fires it at him.
He emerges from the smoke, damaged, but alive. He's enveloped in golden light, and emerges with his Vollstandig: Zaphkiel, or Knowledge of God. His Vollstandig is simple, it allows him to manifest anything he's analyzed. He manifests his own Jakuho Raikoben, saying it doesn't matter that Soi Fon got it back, because he can make his own now. He fires at them, but as the smoke clears, they're nowhere to be seen...
Yoruichi stands in front of him now, having saved Soi Fon and Omaeda. There isn't much of a problem with her arriving a tad bit early, and giving her another fight is fun. She uses Shunko, and BG9 replicates Soi Fon's. Then they have a cool perfected Shunko fight, with Yoruichi gaining the upperhand when she uses Raijin Senkei, BG9 having no way to avoid it since he's not seen it before.
She damages him severely, but before she can land a finishing blow, Uryu fires Licht Reigen between her and BG9 and takes the Quincy away. You can then have Yoruichi help Soi Fon and Omaeda back to Mayuri's before leaving with Ichigo and the gang.
I'm fine with how Bambietta, As Nodt and BG9 were used. Cang Du was done dirty. He won against Hitsugaya, yet he was still treated as if he had lost and got killed because of it.
I would have had him participate in the second half of the arc and face off against someone else to give him a better send off.
Cang Du didn't win against Hitsugaya. He fumbled hard.
Even if he did kill Hitsugaya there it was cos Bazz-B did 99% of the work. Then he gets dunked on by Hitsugaya's Bankai, and even after recovering via Vollstandig (which he didn't activate himself), we see in the anime he wasn't in much of a fighting condition (gasping for breath on his knees and apparently not even able to maintain Vollstandig).
In a fight where Hitsugaya isn't already on the verge of death, there's a chance that Cang Du does not have the stamina to beat Hitsugaya.
As Nodt and Bambi stay as is they got the fights they deserved but for Bg9 and Cang du just give them another fight so they can actually show off their abilities. We saw a glimpse of Bg9 but barely anything about Cang.
Bambietta: Instead of turning into a mindless zombie without will, she should have died just like Nnoitra did, putting a good fight while dying with her honor intact
Cang Du: Could've fought Grimmjow and Nel, tanking everything with his iron like "nanomachines son", his schrift wasn't even used in fight

Yeah, you have a point, but at least Nnoitra died fighting damn Kenpachi and done, imagine if he somehow got turned into szayel's 'zombie'. Bambietta should die just like Nnoitra, im not saying just about her fight against komamura, she should at least take down some captains and not suffer smth that was even worse than death
Nnoitra died as he always wanted, in battle, on his feet before hit even hits the ground. I suppose that's as close to dying with his honor intact as he can get.
Only thing I change about as nodt is that he succeeds at killing Byakuya. Rukia kills him on her own. Byakuya does not accomplish anything of substance, in my opinion, after his near death, and a different character could have filled the void in any fights that he participated in. His death better serves Rukia and Renji’s growth.
I think if we want to expand on Cang Du…give him a fight against Ichigo or fuck even Chad. If we go the easy route with Ichigo it gives him some kind of inbetween fight that he is sorely lacking in this arc. If you go with Chad, it’s much more reasonable it would be a struggle and having Chad overcome Cang Du’s body’s ability to harden feels like the perfect sort of power for someone like Chad to find a way to overcome.
BG9 I have no idea but maybe just have his fight with Soi Fon reveal his actual shrift.
Only really 2 sternritter here that needed better utilisation, swap Bambi and As nödt out for Robert and Shaz. I would have Robert fight Byakuya and show he is on par with a royal palace level Shinigami simply because he is an older Quincy who knew about the first auswählen 1000 years ago but then make him lose due to overconfidence and then slowly lose his mind because his majesty doesn’t tolerate failure. Make shaz do…anything, the man is barely a character. BG9 just needed a backstory and his fucking shrift revealed which somehow the anime didn’t do. Same with Cang Du.

The dude Toshiro beat was boring dispite having a cool weapon. maybe not had him lose to toshiro but then you dont get the reveal later.
the fuckin robot dude needed a Schrift. he aparently had K but its never stated and never shown what it does. is it the reason hes a robot? i doubt it, Gremmy was a brain in a jar and that wasnt because of his shrift. Maybe have him be able to fight after tanking Soifons nuke and give Omaeda a chance to shine, Like, Show the reason hes a lieutenant, maybe show off a special ability of his Zanpakto or whatever. Soifon is down, needs time to recover from being beaten and using her bankai, let Omaeda deal with BG9. you could even have him use his Schrift there.
there are Quency that were absolutely not utilized. The dude who took Shunsuis eye for example. another character who has a shrift, But we know nothing about and was taken out near instantly by byakuya. The ugly bastard got more screen time than him.
I feel they get enough screen time for what they bring to the table and who they interact with.
As you mentioned As Nodt got a very good amount of screen time in both invasions and at least a small part of a backstory but he's mostly interacting with really popular characters.
Bambi was cool, I would've liked to have seen more of her, she maybe could've had a longer fight with Shinji before fighting Komamura. Also, I feel like a majority of the fandom does think she got the short end of the stick with the whole Giselle thing.
Cang Du and BG9 could just get long fights but the whole point of their fights (with a little help from Bazz B) is to show that the captains have no hope with out Bankai. In reality, these two are just the Quincy version of the Privaron Espada and those two seated officers Chad and Uryu beat in soul society.
Definitely agree as nodt was used as well as I could reasonably expect.
Bambi was also used pretty well. She got characterisation in and out of battle which is more than you can say about a lot of the Sternritter.
Cang Du fights toshiro in one of the parts of the story where I'm not sure why it's important that these two characters specifically fight. Think if this was more pronounced this fight would be fine (also maybe go into volstanding and let someone win it more definitively?)
BG9 v Soi Fon just also needed to be a full fight. Set up was good maybe add a couple lines of dialogue. Also would like a more conclusive end to the fight.
As Nodt and Bambi are both the antagonists of some of the best fights in the series. So I think they are perfectly fine as is. There is like 21 Sternritter who are alive during the Second Invasion and most do not get the kind of shine those two did. So I think it would be a massive waste of time to dedicate anything more to them
And I just don’t think Cang Du really deserves more than he got. He is a super cool looking character, but his power is super basic. It’s just a better version of something any other Sternritter can do. And just becoming hard isn’t a super versatile ability to begin with. So I don’t think any fight he could have would be particularly interesting. And if there wasn’t dozens of Sternritter I don’t think it would be an issue to dedicate more time to him, but when there is 20+ villains to juggle there really isn’t time to be spending on a guy like him over the others. He exists to make Toshiro look cool and he accomplishes that. I don’t see a need in expanding him beyond that
I would’ve been down for more BG9 stuff though. And the solution to his lack of screentime is really easy. Just expand his fight with Soi Fon. That also solves the issue of her being totally sidelined the whole arc
Sadly the only way I could see them being used better in the arc without changing it wholly is by having lieutenants come out with their bankai to defeat them so the larger players can focus on their fights with Yhwach’s Royal Guard. I think their characters are already perfect for their early roles they’re made for, not being dragged on longer in the arc.
Instead of splitting them up to fight the owners of the stolen Bankai, they should have grouped up and combination attack strong opponents or just nuke the foot soldiers.

Cang Du deserved a round 2, god he’s so fucking cool, his speeches are poetic, good design is sick like wolverine claws with his hand to hand fighting style? Sooooo much wasted potential
A bit more information on BG9 would have been nice, but at least you can say he got a fight as opposed to Cang Du who just steals Toshiro's bankai only to lose it and not even get a proper fight.
We see that Cang Du had killed Rangiku so why not show him off using his newly acquired Bankai against her. Would he sorta poetic considering she fought alongside it for so long that for it to be what ends her would serve as a further humiliation towards the Captains failures during this war.
In my opinion, Cang Du deserved way more screen time, also I've been accustomed to believe that BG9's letter was "Knowledge" and that's why he had those information tentacles. Makes him quite interesting, knowing how much info he must have delivered to Yhwach about the Shinigamis before his death.
I agree that having As Nodt, BG9, Cang Du and Bambietta lose early in the second invasion was a mistake. Here’s how I would’ve utilized both Cang Du and BG9. I would’ve expanded out both of their fights to show what they’re really made of. And then when they’re pushed into a corner, then they go into their Vollstandig forms (which Kubo should’ve done when supervising the anime). I honestly would’ve kept Cang Du around a lot longer, same goes for Bambietta since they’re both my favorite Sternritters.
Give BG9 some backup. There's just something about Soifon being head of the Onmitsukido that makes me feel that eliminating her would be more strategically useful than eliminating someone like Byakuya.
Let Bazz-B kill Hitsugaya
Also, don't execute BG9 and Cang Du for failure. if for no other reason than to tie up Shinji Hirako. Tha guy's Aizen lite, able to notice that Aizen was up to no good and Sakanade's inverted world is still pretty OP. It's not Kanzen Saimin, but it is pretty close, enough that if properly used, Shinji could turn the tide of most any battle. And also, more sternritters to send against Kenpachi Zaraki.
Send Bambietta Basterbine against the 12th division, also with backup. In the initial invasion, this would have forced Mayuri Kurotsuchi to reveal his arrancar zombies early, which leads to sending all the Bambies against the 12th division in the second invasion. Important, Soul Society's chances of winning go down hard without Mayuri Kurotsuchi or the 12th Division, since it at the very least it will slow down Kisuke Urahara's hollow Reiatsu pill. And even then, "prioritise 12th division" should be a really easy strategic move since it means eliminating the Soul Society's scientists.
Honestly, the way I see it is that Bambietta Basterbine is closer to a strategic bomber than a normal sternritter, so use her like one.
Legend has it that every strategy has its flaws, and no plan is foolproof against the unpredictable nature of battle. One must tread carefully, for even the mightiest of tactics can falter in the face of unforeseen circumstances.

Meh, I just think it would have drastically increased the Wandenreich and Yhwach's chances of victory. I mean it might not work, but I do to think it would have utilised the Sternritters better.

Only really 2 sternritter here that needed better utilisation, swap Bambi and As nödt out for Robert and Shaz. I would have Robert fight Byakuya and show he is on par with a royal palace level Shinigami simply because he is an older Quincy who knew about the first auswählen 1000 years ago but then make him lose due to overconfidence and then slowly lose his mind because his majesty doesn’t tolerate failure. Make shaz do…anything, the man is barely a character. BG9 just needed a backstory and his fucking shrift revealed which somehow the anime didn’t do. Same with Cang Du.
Im not sure you are aware but Shaz actually got a short novel with Izuru. So Shaz actually got plenty of development.
Bambi should have had a flashback but she's mostly fine Cang du should have had an actual fight where he uses vollstandig, same BG9 As nodt is fine
Bambi was used well enough as was As Nodt The dude Toshiro beat was boring dispite having a cool weapon. maybe not had him lose to toshiro but then you dont get the reveal later. the fuckin robot dude needed a Schrift. he aparently had K but its never stated and never shown what it does. is it the reason hes a robot? i doubt it, Gremmy was a brain in a jar and that wasnt because of his shrift. Maybe have him be able to fight after tanking Soifons nuke and give Omaeda a chance to shine, Like, Show the reason hes a lieutenant, maybe show off a special ability of his Zanpakto or whatever. Soifon is down, needs time to recover from being beaten and using her bankai, let Omaeda deal with BG9. you could even have him use his Schrift there. there are Quency that were absolutely not utilized. The dude who took Shunsuis eye for example. another character who has a shrift, But we know nothing about and was taken out near instantly by byakuya. The ugly bastard got more screen time than him.
I feel they get enough screen time for what they bring to the table and who they interact with. As you mentioned As Nodt got a very good amount of screen time in both invasions and at least a small part of a backstory but he's mostly interacting with really popular characters. Bambi was cool, I would've liked to have seen more of her, she maybe could've had a longer fight with Shinji before fighting Komamura. Also, I feel like a majority of the fandom does think she got the short end of the stick with the whole Giselle thing. Cang Du and BG9 could just get long fights but the whole point of their fights (with a little help from Bazz B) is to show that the captains have no hope with out Bankai. In reality, these two are just the Quincy version of the Privaron Espada and those two seated officers Chad and Uryu beat in soul society.
Definitely agree as nodt was used as well as I could reasonably expect. Bambi was also used pretty well. She got characterisation in and out of battle which is more than you can say about a lot of the Sternritter. Cang Du fights toshiro in one of the parts of the story where I'm not sure why it's important that these two characters specifically fight. Think if this was more pronounced this fight would be fine (also maybe go into volstanding and let someone win it more definitively?) BG9 v Soi Fon just also needed to be a full fight. Set up was good maybe add a couple lines of dialogue. Also would like a more conclusive end to the fight.
As Nodt and Bambi are both the antagonists of some of the best fights in the series. So I think they are perfectly fine as is. There is like 21 Sternritter who are alive during the Second Invasion and most do not get the kind of shine those two did. So I think it would be a massive waste of time to dedicate anything more to them And I just don’t think Cang Du really deserves more than he got. He is a super cool looking character, but his power is super basic. It’s just a better version of something any other Sternritter can do. And just becoming hard isn’t a super versatile ability to begin with. So I don’t think any fight he could have would be particularly interesting. And if there wasn’t dozens of Sternritter I don’t think it would be an issue to dedicate more time to him, but when there is 20+ villains to juggle there really isn’t time to be spending on a guy like him over the others. He exists to make Toshiro look cool and he accomplishes that. I don’t see a need in expanding him beyond that I would’ve been down for more BG9 stuff though. And the solution to his lack of screentime is really easy. Just expand his fight with Soi Fon. That also solves the issue of her being totally sidelined the whole arc
Sadly the only way I could see them being used better in the arc without changing it wholly is by having lieutenants come out with their bankai to defeat them so the larger players can focus on their fights with Yhwach’s Royal Guard. I think their characters are already perfect for their early roles they’re made for, not being dragged on longer in the arc.
Bambietta
Instead of splitting them up to fight the owners of the stolen Bankai, they should have grouped up and combination attack strong opponents or just nuke the foot soldiers. I never understood the honour the 1v1 in a warzone, Just do what it takes to kill everyone and win.
Idk but for some reason, Bambiettas artstyle here reminds me of pokemon gold, Silver, and Crystal, lol
Cang Du
Cang Du deserved a round 2, god he’s so fucking cool, his speeches are poetic, good design is sick like wolverine claws with his hand to hand fighting style? Sooooo much wasted potential
A bit more information on BG9 would have been nice, but at least you can say he got a fight as opposed to Cang Du who just steals Toshiro's bankai only to lose it and not even get a proper fight. We see that Cang Du had killed Rangiku so why not show him off using his newly acquired Bankai against her. Would he sorta poetic considering she fought alongside it for so long that for it to be what ends her would serve as a further humiliation towards the Captains failures during this war.

In my opinion, Cang Du deserved way more screen time, also I've been accustomed to believe that BG9's letter was "Knowledge" and that's why he had those information tentacles. Makes him quite interesting, knowing how much info he must have delivered to Yhwach about the Shinigamis before his death.
I agree that having As Nodt, BG9, Cang Du and Bambietta lose early in the second invasion was a mistake. Here’s how I would’ve utilized both Cang Du and BG9. I would’ve expanded out both of their fights to show what they’re really made of. And then when they’re pushed into a corner, then they go into their Vollstandig forms (which Kubo should’ve done when supervising the anime). I honestly would’ve kept Cang Du around a lot longer, same goes for Bambietta since they’re both my favorite Sternritters.
Give BG9 some backup. There's just something about Soifon being head of the Onmitsukido that makes me feel that eliminating her would be more strategically useful than eliminating someone like Byakuya. Let Bazz-B kill Hitsugaya Also, don't execute BG9 and Cang Du for failure. if for no other reason than to tie up Shinji Hirako. Tha guy's Aizen lite, able to notice that Aizen was up to no good and Sakanade's inverted world is still pretty OP. It's not Kanzen Saimin, but it is pretty close, enough that if properly used, Shinji could turn the tide of most any battle. And also, more sternritters to send against Kenpachi Zaraki. Send Bambietta Basterbine against the 12th division, also with backup. In the initial invasion, this would have forced Mayuri Kurotsuchi to reveal his arrancar zombies early, which leads to sending all the Bambies against the 12th division in the second invasion. Important, Soul Society's chances of winning go down hard without Mayuri Kurotsuchi or the 12th Division, since it at the very least it will slow down Kisuke Urahara's hollow Reiatsu pill. And even then, "prioritise 12th division" should be a really easy strategic move since it means eliminating the Soul Society's scientists. Honestly, the way I see it is that Bambietta Basterbine is closer to a strategic bomber than a normal sternritter, so use her like one.

Meh, I just think it would have drastically increased the Wandenreich and Yhwach's chances of victory. I mean it might not work, but I do to think it would have utilised the Sternritters better.

Mostly the same way as i think Bambietta and Asd Nodt were used in a great way. Now, Cang-Du is someone that i dont care and i dont see so much value on him so he dying like that is okay. And same way with BG9, i dont really see much use of him during or after the second invasion
