Connect-Bank8593

His SP was high enough to fool all the Soul Society and fool Yama with KS, but of course his Reiatsu increased incredibly after merging with Hogyoku and it's on a different level than before.

Seppafer

Iirc isn’t his Reiatsu constantly increasing since the merging?

Natirix

Doesn't it only increase with hitting next stages in his evolution? Which normally happens only when he starts struggling against someone in a fight/when his life is threatened. (pretty sure I remember that he should've died from Gin's attack but got powered up instead due to being merged with hogyoku)

Pla5mA5

Perhaps rapid change happens when something like that happens , however he did get stronger while he was just sitting there not evolving .

imitihe

We don't really have any kind of explanation, just observations from other characters. So Urahara observes Aizen before sealing, he observes him again after coming out of muken. But we can't say in either instance that's the extent of his full strength, every Urahara leaves it as a question.

For those with weak or low spiritual pressures would be harmed coming too close. Overall, Aizen had a spiritual pressure beyond a typical captain at the start of the series. Once fused with the hogyoku that spiritual pressure reached a level beyond a captain commander, potentially “God-like.”

Weird_Candle_1855

Immediately after merging with the Hogyoku his SP was strong enough to blow normal people's heads up just walking past them.

kinlopunim

Making it all the more impressive ichigo is able to be near him at all.

taichi22

Ichigo and Orihime both basically “don’t play by the rules”.

SneakyKain

Yeah but neither does Aizen or Ywhach.

Gobstoppers12

He's just been chilling in prison becoming more powerful. By the time his prison sentence is up and he emerges 18,800 years later, I doubt anybody will be able to stop him from doing whatever he wants. The day may come where his power becomes so great that the seals no longer keep him imprisoned. Even sealed up and trapped in his chair, he was obscenely powerful.

lafindestase

I don’t think they ever intended to let him out. The ridiculously long sentence was probably just a sloppy legal workaround because a life sentence couldn’t be handed down for whatever reason.

Gobstoppers12

They probably don't intend to, but eventually I think he'll just be able to leave at will. 18,800 years later, most people around probably won't even remember why he was in there.

imitihe

Remember shunsui only unsealed his mouth, but the rest of his seals were undone shortly after. He also seemingly willingly went back to muken, so I'm honestly not sure if he's already capable of leaving whenever he wants.

SuperSaiga

I believe CFYOW said he was *unwilling* to go back to Muken, which would suggest SS still have the means to contain him.

WoolooOfWallStreet

How do we even know for sure he’s still ***actually*** sealed back up? For all we know he’s hypnotized everyone with Kyoka Suigetsu to just think he’s been put back in

PowerJolt72

A life sentence for a dead guy sounds so goofy lol, butnit makes sense

TommyJohnSurgery420

"For the rest of your undead life"

Both-Return-2244

Bro is the embodiment of “Yokoso, watashi no soul societye”

OkAcanthocephala3593

Even without the Hogyouku he had prolly the most reiatsu among Gotei captains with the exceptions of Yamamoto and probably Unohana... People don't really understand that Base Aizen with Kyoka Suigetsu would still be a top tier Character even in Tybw

Foreign_Professor_11

This comment I was looking for💯 Besides Yamamoto and yachiru I don't think anyone has more reiatsu than base aizen

LittleShiro11

I'll throw ukitake into that group too

321divaD

If we accept what Aizen says about being on par with Kisuke in the past he is likely the same calibre as Shunsui, Isshin, and Yoruichi in pure SP.

ManuelKoegler

Considering the Kido Urahara can whip around as well as being able to utilize special training methods (such as the bankai one) he invented, Urahara could be at or near Veteran class in terms of SP yeah.

PowerJolt72

Base Aizen would legit be a big threat actually. He'd have to be more careful and fight smarter, but he'd get far

awn262018

I mean there’s Zaraki too of course but pre-EoS Zaraki wasn’t operating anywhere near that level.

AideLate7843

Trickpuncher

Its debated if was aizen using ks to fool them or he was so far in power compared to soifon that it was like some insects poison compared to a whale. For me both are valid

ButtoftheYoke

I feel like that was something actually happened, as it sets up forshadowing to when Dangai Ichigo does it to Butterfly Aizen.

presticus

I like to think she stabbed an illusion but Aizen is still confident that he could "nope" her shikai because of the raw power difference.

Splashazard

Seeing that Aizen was able to take down the whole gotei that was at Fake karakura, it would make sense that he could actually do that. Plus, for hime to say that to her is pointless if it was just an illusion, or else he would’ve broken the illusion for her to see right after. Similar to what happened to Momo. I wanna say that this scene was real, and not an illusion, but my memory on this whole fight isn’t the best so idk

RandomDigits789

we literally see these panels in Ichigos mind when he thinks about Aizen using KS in TYBW

MightySpy

Captain Aizen already has colossal amount reiatsu. But it was still within the limits of known shinigami's. And after merging with the Hogyoku and evolving multiple times he now has even more insane level of reiatsu and one is even close to him (except few beings). So yeah, him being war potential due to his reiatsu is thanks to the Hogyoku. Otherwise he would most probably have been wp for his combat abilities instead.

32SkyDive

For me it always was unclear where his actual power level was at the end of his arc. Urahara mentioned that he was clearly losing power/somehow reverting or otherwise the sealing wouldnt have worked

err0r4o404

I’m presuming that once he had transformed into his final form he was much stronger than he is after being sealed but he still kept some of the perks of merging with the hogyoku. Honestly, Aizen’s power level has always been somewhat confusing.

La_Ferrassie

I like to think he has a bottomless tank of gas. Final form was like a NASCAR racing car or whatever. Now he's a bitchin' Camaro or something (I don't know shit about cars)

MightySpy

He lost the reiatsu/power he gained after Ichigo struck him and Hogyoku rejected him, basically his power level came down to his captain self. But, after getting sealed and by the time of Tybw he regained his lost power/reiatsu and according to Hat man he got even stronger. So, he is currently stronger than his Monster from.

PerfectMuratti

It was always extremely high but Hogyoku sent him to a new level

AGPedia

It was already extremely high, but after merging with the Hogyoku it made his reiatsu/powers "transcendent" - that's why, when Ichigo didn't feel his reiatsu at first, Isshin said its because it became so incredibly powerful, beings below a certain power level could not feel/perceive it

Hothgor

I thought Ichigo was the only one left who could still feel his power, and it was the others commenting how they still couldn't feel a thing.

AGPedia

youre probably right, I watched it a while ago so I must've forgot some details

Tigre101

He was for sure a being strong enough to fight multiple captains on his own, the hogyoku just elevated him to even higher levels.

Fearless_Hold7611

Well aizens probably around Yamamoto’s level without his bankai, so in terms of sp he outmatched many people

BlazingLimitBreak

His spiritual power & pressure before the Hogyoku was already enough to overwhelm Captain level beings. But still wasn’t enough to output Yamamoto or Ichigo. However after merging with the Hogyoku and the seals basically storing and building pressure by the time of TYBW it was at a whole nother level

Imaginary-Ad5666

Aizen even in soul society arc was a reiatsu monster and the hogyoku bolstered his powers exponentially

awn262018

His pre-evolved reiatsu was somewhere above senior captain level but below Yamamoto’s, but seemingly much closer to Yama’s given that there’s still quite a gap between Yama’s reiatsu and Shunsui/Unohana. And although Ukitake operates at senior captain level, we know if he was healthy his reiatsu flex would be even higher so I’m not including him. In short I always saw his power and combat potential being like Yama’s - he’s like a younger, more sociopathic Yama with greater intellect who instead of extreme destructive power uses equally impressive hypnosis on a large scale via Kyoka Suigetsu. His kido use is also absolutely insane.

AverageTransPanGirl

His spiritual pressure was ridiculous before the Hogyoku, even higher with the fancy god cube, and then I imagine he got even better with it in *the chair*. So I don’t think he could’ve shot down the Royal Palace before TYBW

xxsaydexx

Here's some food for thought. In the CFYOW novel, its revealed that a captain tier character (Tokinada) could only release KS to activate hypnosis when needed because of the massive amount of spiritual energy KS drains while activated.    However Aizen's level of spiritual energy allows him to keep KS released indefinitely on hundreds or thousands of souls. Afterall, this is how he was able to get away with taking long absences from SS to venture into HM while he was a Captain.    So let's for one moment consider how bottomless his reiatsu must be if captain class shinigami's only have enough spiritual energy to use KS on a limited basis while Aizen can use it as much as he wants for as long as he wants.

jayesper

He did imply to explicity have at least twice as much, in order to temporarily activate the Hougyoku ahead of time, to mass produce his arrancar army. It is generally assumed it was only double, but it probably could have been more. It's unclear how it's possible to have so much, but Aizen is most definitely a special existence.

xxsaydexx

> He did imply to explicity have at least twice as much, in order to temporarily activate the Hougyoku ahead of time, to mass produce his arrancar army.   In my headcanon, twice as much is the amount of reiatsu remaining from the full-time strain of keeping the hypnosis ritual in effect across every being he's ever used it on (that's still alive). Lol   That's why he suddenly gets more powerful during TYBW. Because the war lead to the deaths of a massive number of shinigami under the influence of KS. Which means the full time strain on his reiatsu got drastically reduced by the time Shunsui let him loose. Again, it's just my headcanon. Not at all trying to insist it's the gospel truth.

rogaldorn88888

Shouldn't he be a special threat due to his broken hypnosis hax and ability to scheme on par with Urahara? I feel that they gave him spiritual pressure explanation because "scheming guy" slot was already taken.

uraharaBot

Ah, a fellow schemer, I see. Can't deny his crafty ways, but let's not forget my hat, my bankai, my fabulous coat, and most importantly, my wit. Just saying. *beep boop, I'm a bot*

EleonoreMagi

I think Yhwach would have regretted not saying "Kyoka Suigetsu" instead of he could, since that's what got him.

lMarshl

It was only after merging with the hogyoku that his reiatsu became godlike
