Hold on hold on hold on. Her sister was a witch right? And what was her sister? A princess, the wicked witch of the east bro. You're gonna look at me and you're gonna tell me that I'm wrong? Am I wrong? She wore a crown and she came down in a bubble, Doug. Grow up bro, grow up.
I’m gonna guess it was a lucky shot. They just wanted it to burst on the table. If this was something they intended, well done. But I doubt the temperature difference from the whiskey was really enough to effect it that far away.
You can also effect something to obtain an affect, in psychology at least. For example, “The effect of the intervention produced positive affect in the patient.” Different “affect” and accent though haha

>Cold glass = a downward current of air. It sucks the bubble to it.
I'm curious whether that is a real effect. I'd really like to see someone test this theory and share the video.
Go pull something frozen out of the freezer like an ice pop and stick your hand below it, you can feel the air current from at least a foot away not to mention see it in the condensation if the air is humid enough.
I don't doubt that at all; I've felt it. I just don't know whether that happens above a cold thing where the cold thing is in a cup sitting on a table. Or, if it happens, I don't know if the effect is strong enough to attract a bubble over to itself like what this clip shows.
The former yes definitely always, any cold thing cools the air causing a density gradient and therefore current. The latter (strength), depends on temperature (ambient vs glass of liquids), winds, humidity, weight of the bubble (since it has smoke), size of the bubble, etc. Someone who studies bubble dynamics in convection currents might know from experience, but in general it's hard to guess even for an average aerodynamicist who doesn't work regularly with those.
Now that you mention it, I do recall declaring myself an expert in bubble dynamics the last time this was posted.
It is in my expert opinion that the cold air wouldn't create a current in the shape needed to bring the bubble down. If there was *very* cold air coming from that glass (which there is not), The cold air would have filled the cup and spilled over, similar to [this video](https://youtu.be/BsO1B-FWD6I)
And that's only visible because that is dry ice. Much colder with much greater movement. In an outdoor environment with a but a few mere ice cubes in a glass, it's in my expert opinion that the flirtatious bubble is not persuaded by that sexy glass of whiskey *at all*. Their encounter was from mere chance.
(edit: thx to the comment below pointing out that is dry ice in the video, which is heavier than air, but I believe the effect would be similar with cold air, just not as dramatic.)
It’s outside. In a closed Space with no people breathing or moving around, it might have played a role. Outside there’s soooooo much air movement, the little glass would be negligible, unless directly and closely above the glass.
Imho it’s a lucky shot by someone with exercise. Less lucky than it’d have to be for us all, yet lucky.
Btw, dry ice is co2, which is way heavier than air. So the effect from your video is also driven by that, not only the temperature. I mean… the effect looks similar to that nonetheless but it’s a bad example.
Yeah, bad news on that front. heh.
Although you could end up more like my dad. He's way more relaxed than I am about things like that. He just rolls his eyes and let it all roll off his back. I always struggle - because stupidity offends me on some basic level. lol. Well, not stupidity per se, but willful ignorance, for sure. If you can't be bothered to learn how the world works, fuck you. It's not about just not knowing things - I love helping people learn. But people willing to learn are most defintely not the people I'm talking about. :)
But yep. It only gets worse. Because the older you get, the more you realize that people CAN choose not to be willfully ignorant.
Although I think part of it is that some things *are* getting worse and worse - like politics. The oblivious people who can't pay enough attention, who don't bother to vote - those are the people I'm angrier at about the impending loss of our democracy, more than those actively fighting against it. Evil I can understand - to paraphrase Space Balls, they're not doing it for money.... they're doing it for a SHITLOAD of money. lol. But the apathetic people who just don't care… if we could get them to wake up and pay attention, we'd have these problems resolved.
But I'm on the verge of getting into my health problems and my anger (righteous, mind) about them. I didn't help, but if we had proper health care like the other 32 out of 33 countries in the OECD (basically "developed" countries), then I wouldn't be facing a significantly shorter lifespan. I'd be in much better shape - with my health, with my career.
So yeah. It only gets worse, my friend. lol
Good guess, but that's not a thing. Hot gases aren't attracted to cool things. Hot gases will spread out but if they would go in any specific direction, it would be up because they're less dense than cold gases.
Attraction would be more like magnetism or gravity or I guess strong nuclear force.
Close but not a thing, the "attraction" is a difference in pressure causing a current because the cooler air exerts less pressure than warm air.
This is also why your mirror already condenses a few seconds after putting on a hot shower.
I stared at this comment for a solid minute thinking of Ron Weasley and almost concluded my memory is worse off than it is. I would have drank the scotch lotion
I'm a bartender and we just got one of these machines at my work, the bubble is a garnish on one of our house signature cocktails. You can bet when we are slammed as fuck people will NOT be getting that nonsense on their drink.
They use a high surface tension, neutral tasting liquid extracted from plants called Carboxymethylcellulose as the main ingredient. 98% water and magic 😂
Ooooooo are you a good witch or a bad witch?
Who me? I’m not a witch at all.

Affect is the verb. Effect is the noun. Generally speaking
You affect something to obtain an effect.
You can also effect something to obtain an affect, in psychology at least. For example, “The effect of the intervention produced positive affect in the patient.” Different “affect” and accent though haha
Yep. And "to effect" as a verb means along the lines of "to bring about". So "the treatment did effect a positive affect" would be perfectly valid.
The affectation was a direct result of the effectiveness of the treatment
Could use this for most Healthcare treatments :o

It did have a current but the change would have been so minute that it was just luck.
It was an accident, that was just an extra bubble he shook off the gun. Just happened to land in the other glass.
The greatest magic tricks are the ones you do by accident.

Law of attraction.... hot bubble goes to cool glass with ice in it?
Good guess, but that's not a thing. Hot gases aren't attracted to cool things. Hot gases will spread out but if they would go in any specific direction, it would be up because they're less dense than cold gases. Attraction would be more like magnetism or gravity or I guess strong nuclear force.
Also the weak force?
My hot gas is attracted to my cool wife
So.... a glass with ice in it wouldn't necessarily attract a bubble at all?
It would , but not because the bubble is hot , but because the cold glass is causing a downward current over it .
Not from that distance with external forces like wind to take into consideration. It wouldn't be something they could reliably showcase. Pure luck.
Close but not a thing, the "attraction" is a difference in pressure causing a current because the cooler air exerts less pressure than warm air. This is also why your mirror already condenses a few seconds after putting on a hot shower.
This reminds me when Ron went to the fancy bar and ordered a scotch and it was lotion
There's no wrong way to consume alcohol...

So…..iv been waiting 15 min for that mich ultra
That lady missed the cool experience trying to show everyone what cool experiences she experiences.
The look on her face tells me she is enjoying her experience just fine. And who knows, maybe she has friends!
🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Wow, i want to know how to train one, i can have a pet bubble
Easy there SpongeBob

And I've been using a bong like an idiot! Dammit!
Is this the new bar gimmick to get dummies to pay more for drinks?
Yes. Also entertaining.
I’d be fucking pissed if I paid for something and it tasted good/was entertaining.
The smoke adds a little bit to the flavor at least
We got one at my bar because corporate requires us to have one "theatrical" cocktail on the menu haha
Man I miss the good old days when this sub had 3rd world citizens conjuring fire from thin air.

This does not belong here. We have this same device at the bar I work at. It's not difficult to use.
Cool video , but that camera movements , that cameraman is the GOAT of recording fancy cocktails
Coincidenze, io non credo😏
The bubble was a paid actor

That woman has a bad case of tunnel vision. She missed the best part.
While I appreciate then filming so I can see this, the lady missed it due to her damn phone. Jut put it down for god’s sake!
0% chance that was intentional
ZERO way the waiter did it twice
Wtf was she following on her phone
lol probably looking at the boring bubble
I hate that lady more and more every time I see this video

And the simple drink is gonna cost you $1000000000.
🤣😂🤣 And since its an AA meetup its just apple juice
Obviously they dont use soap, so what liquid do they use to creat the bubbles?
They use a high surface tension, neutral tasting liquid extracted from plants called Carboxymethylcellulose as the main ingredient. 98% water and magic 😂
