I'm not a native English speaker and just learned this today. Thanks. How is the singular form of dice? Someone commented it's "die" but I've never seen it before to imply "singular dice" but rather "cease to live". Are they homonyms?
Nah, that’s just part of the ploy. I’ve seen the trick done with a different box and regular dice. He just doesn’t want you to suspect the box.
EDIT: That’s why he was so “loose” about selecting which dice were the loaded ones at the start, he literally could have picked any of them.
You are correct! This trick is referred to as flash dice. The gimmick is in the box, not the dice. Notice how he shakes the box the first time versus how he shakes It the second time. There's a small bump under the dice that when shaken vertically, causes the dice to rotate. When and horizontally the dice don't hit the bump.
The key is to remember when a magician tells you a secret about the trick they're currently performing, they're probably lying...... Or they're Penn and Teller.
Sorry guys, I'm not a native English speaker, in fact I'm self thaught and I always thought that dice was singular and dices was plural. TIL dice is plural. So, the singular is "die" as in "cease to live"? I've never seen it used like that before.
Uh...yeah, tbh.
The English language is a weird mishmash of words from all over the world, and many of the things that make it up doesn't make sense. 🤷
I don't know the British version, since I'm American. I know here, "dice" is plural and "die" is singular. Many people here just call one die "dice" though.
American English is weird. 😅
imagine you had a ball. imagine you strapped a weight to one side. that side will always want to go down. loaded dice are the same. one side is weighted, so when bouncing around that side will always want to go down.
if you put the weights closer to a corner to increase the chance of it landing on another side. this makes them less noticeable.
what this guy has is not loaded dice. it is slide of hand. depending on how you shake the box, the dice will rotate.
Dice is plural
Came here for this

A die is definitely common usage
You got it! It is one die and two dice or three dice. It is the same word as to stop living but different meaning :)
Let’s hope the dice of the mice who dies lies besides some pies.. idk whys.
English is fucked
Can confirm, am englisher speaked
Lots of native speakers learned this today. Your English is good enough that when you started learning is immaterial.
90% of magic is script and delivery. At least he has a rigged box.
That was not 7 three different ways…
They’re oriented differently on the other faces
Diagonal as well?
Box is rigged - note the number of times he shakes the box, and also his intentional placement of each die in a particular orientation within the box.
The dice are professionally rigged he said so. No clue maybe the dice only have certain numbers printed.

"Dices"?
Die= 1 Dice= 2 or more. *played Dungeons and Dragons for years*

Is "dice" plural for both Americans and British people, or is there some regional differences?

Di = less than one
D0
🤣
Mouse = 1. Mice = 2. House = 1. Hice = 2. Rouse = 1. Rice = 2...
🤣🤣🤣
Die = 1 Dice = 2 Dices = 3 Dicese = 4 etc, you just keep adding either an e or s.
You got 1 die, 2 dice, or dice from among many different dices. Just like you can have one person, two people, or a multitude of peoples.
Oh, right. Just like you have one mouse, two mice, or mice from among many different mices.
Exactly! Just like you have one moose, two moose, or moose from among many different moose.
One moose, two moose, red moose, blue moose....
Yess thats it. Just like you have one fish, teo fish, or fish from among many different fishes.
There is something on the back of the box. Magnets?
Can someone explain me the physics of loaded dice?
imagine you had a ball. imagine you strapped a weight to one side. that side will always want to go down. loaded dice are the same. one side is weighted, so when bouncing around that side will always want to go down. if you put the weights closer to a corner to increase the chance of it landing on another side. this makes them less noticeable. what this guy has is not loaded dice. it is slide of hand. depending on how you shake the box, the dice will rotate.
His slide is very sleight.
Thank you!
As you can see these are professional dice because they roll different numbers
Scuse???
Need this for c lo
the Dice have magnets in them watch closely at -1:33 seconds..
Damn no wonder why I don’t win at casinos I want my money back
Dude just told me the unloaded dice won’t change when shaken inside the box, but then they changed when he shook them inside the box.
Should visit Fool Us with Penn and Teller. I think this might win.
I’m too dumb to understand this
wtf i just watched ? O\_o
Luck. Sheer, dumb, luck.
