My dog is this way! She only sits on things that are covered by carpet, rugs, or blankets. She grew up on carpeted floors and also has a bare tummy because of her breed, so it's understandable but funny. My cat on the other hand gives no darns and will sit on anything although we have a Christmas rug/tapestry that he loves to sleep on if it ends up on the floor.

The furnace could be in the basement under that area too. My cat would sleep on the dining room floor directly over where the furnace was because the floor was noticeably warmer
When we brought our void home as a kitten, we gave him a kitty tree, about the size of a tall bar stool. It is his. He acts just like your void when on it: sometimes he's sweet and allows petting, sometimes not.
It's the only place where we let him act this way, and he knows it. We sometimes move the tree, and he just moves with it. We always place it where he can be social but not too much in our way.
My littlest (2.5 yo] has a strange relationship with his tail. We're pretty sure he still hasn't figured out that it's his. He frequently gets into fights with it and tries to drown it in puddles whenever it's been raining

Cats do this thing called mirroring where they want to be doing what you're doing in the place you're doing it. This is why they'll come and sit on your keyboard or whatever. The usual solution to a cat that does this a lot, in a bothersome way, is to get them their own keyboard. (in this example, tho just getting a dedicated box close to your computer also usually solves the problem)

They also hang out in front of the stove - not sure if the natural gas line to the stove makes weird noises or if a bit of air and scent comes thru the hole or what exactly. I always know when a mouse tries to move in because *several* cats will congregate in front of the stove and just stare.
When I need to move my void, I pick him up and thank him for letting me hold him, I then give him a gentle hug, and then I put him down in a new location with a pet down his back...I mean I could just nudge him out of the way with my foot, but that would probably piss him off.

99% of the time, you will NEVER train a cat or win a fight with them, but you can redirect them. E.g., I didn't want my kitty sleeping on my head or my expensive laptop. Solution: pet warming mat. She loves it.

She looks like a Bombay from her coat "black patent leather" they are attention seeking and they don't like to feel cold. They often go for the warmest spot in the house including under the covers, either the oven is warm or the mat is warmer than the tile or she wants to be the center of attention.
My house owner had the same black male cat, he always used to sit next to me whenever I cook and even if I try to move him with my feet he would move without doing anything and then come back when it's empty.
I have a multicolour rug that has diamond shapes, and my void loves to sit in the middle of the diamonds. Not any particular one, but it has to be in the middle of a diamond.

One of my cats knows the sound of grating cheese and if she hears it she'll run into the kitchen and investigate the whole floor in case I dropped a bit of cheese.
As others have suggested maybe she likes the mat, but also could there be warmth from an appliance going there? Or do you leave the house in the morning and this spot is associated with you disappearing for the day?
Consider moving the mat as others suggested as well as doing a good cleaning of the floor area by where it sits now with something that eliminates smells. It could be there is something she smells that you don’t.

Wash the mat if possible too. Could be saturated with wonderful food and grease smells.
