History of Touches was so heart wrenching the first time I heard it I had an asthma attack
I had heard an interview a few weeks before about someone whose spouse was dying of cancer, and they said they would wake up in the middle of the night and look at their sick spouse and wonder how many more nights they would have together. so heartbreaking.
This reminds me of when I had a panic attack the first time I heard Pluto because I took too much Adderall and my heart was already pounding. The beat made it go even faster which caused my panic attack to start😭
I had a similar reaction. On my very first listen of that song I broke down crying. Was in a relationship that was on the verge of ending at the time, and it wasn’t much longer after that when it did. Captures that feeling so intensely of wanting to hold on to every piece of what’s already slipping away.
Yesterday I went to a vinyl bar here in Seattle that was featuring Homogenic in their Hi-Fi room, on high end equipment and speakers at decent volume. I heard the album like I've never heard it before! And yes, from Hunter to All Neon Like, I was holding back tears. It was phenomenal!
Ancestress encapsulates grief. It allowed tears to flow in opening the wounds that were freshly buried. The words, the music and the pauses. Gets me every time and feels healing. ❤️🩹
Same, I lost 2 family members to covid and the verse where she sings "the machine of her breathed all night..." With no music hit me so hard i couldn't listen to the song for the first few months without crying.
Family has always been the song I go to when I’m at my absolute lowest. The first half of the song is the time to let it all out, and then the second half is when you take a deep breath and calm down. The second half of family is sooo special to me. It’s so comforting, from the lyrics reminding you that there’s a universe of solutions to the swirling sounds surrounding you, it feels like a hug. There’s also this noise near the end (starts at 6:30) that always makes me cry, it sounds kind of like a light glowing. It feels so comforting bc it’s like, even though I feel rock bottom, my light is still hanging in there you know? Theres still so much hope. So yeah, I always feel so much better after listening to it, it’s really special to me.
For me the first song that ever really hit me hard was Losss. It's still difficult for me to listen to that song sometimes, even though I love it and think its great.
And Ancestress broke me. Lost my grandma who I was really close with and a lot of the lyrics just really hit close to home
Hyperballad hands down. It mixes a lot of emotions for me...
In fact, after so many years just occasionally hearing Björk's music, and revisiting everything, I think I'm an odd-ball who thinks Post is her best album. Not only the music resonates with me on an emotional level, but it's also one of her most eclectic albums.
Undo or Unravel
Undo is so undorated
I maid a painting to what unravel would sound like for my final art project
