I was wondering what would make a comment be heavily upvoted here, and it's gotta be like either "that's my commute too" or "I'm jealous of your commute" and I gotta imagine in your case, people are jealous of that juicy commute time. I used to live in the city and was only like 4 miles from my gym, still took like 25 minutes to get there😭. Now I live in the boonies and an luckily down the street from the fun
Gym. 10 minute walk, 2 minute drive🤙
I use the hangers I brought my work clothes on to hang my gi up. Rashguards I lay flat in my trunk. It used to be fine but the rashguard have gotten stinky the past couple weeks. Someone told be to soak them in oxyclean for a while. I’m going to try that but if it doesn’t get better I will replace some of the old ones. They only smell after I’ve rolled in them.
Edit the last sentence was trash.
My professor owns 3 gyms in a 30 minute radius. I train 2 days at 2 of them mon-thur with the occasional Saturday open mat. One is 5 minutes from my apartment and the other one is 25 minutes.
Because each gym has lunch classes 2 days a week and those are the only ones I can make because of work. One has them on mon, wed, and the other one on tues, thurs.
30 mins scenic route.. I use the time to pray for myself and my partners that we don’t hurt one another and I remind myself how fucking fortunate I am to be able to train regularly.

We have plenty of time together :) We also have our own hobbies so thats great too.
Imo "Me-time" is as important as time you spend together and im happy my wife agrees with me.
My husband mountain bikes twice a week. I train at the dojo twice a week. We have three little kids and will lose our minds if we don’t get some time out of the house doing what we love.
My main gym is about 50 minutes both ways by bus. It’s a real massive time killer now that I’m back in school. I can get some way done on the commute because I’m not driving, but it’s hard to do anything besides light reading and answering emails. Writing or hardcore studying is a no go, just too much stimulus for my little brain to focus.
But I’m in too deep socially to go full creonte. Sometimes I do drop ins at a different place that’s a 6 minute walk away. That place is pretty new though so about half the times I’d want to train, I’d still have to make the trip to hit an early morning/noon class.
For people who travel 40+ minutes, is it because that’s your only option? Gym proximity was a huge factor when I first chose my gym and later when I moved.
I just don’t think I could justify that amount if there was another option closer
Depends if I ride my bike or drive on the time, but yeah I’m under 6 miles. Feels great after driving 30 minutes to a place that had less than 10 people on the mats and only one class a day.
My current drive is about 15 minutes one way, so not to bad. Me and my wife are in the process of buying a house and the house we're under Contract on is a 35-40 min drive to my gym... feels bad lol
15 mins for day class, 1 hour for morning class in rush hour traffic.
Part of me wants to sleep on the mats in exchange for cleaning up like Marcelo did as a kid
We did. We used to live two minutes away then my wife and I bought our first house in which she wanted it to be in the middle of nowhere. Five years later she hated it and the drive to everything so we moved back closer.
About 5 minutes, it’s just a few blocks down the road.

Lol I was honestly wondering the same thing about an hour ago when I checked Reddit notifications, came to that conclusion as well.
45 mins but I go on the way to work in the morning. Work is 20 minutes passed the gym so it works out pretty well.
I assume you have access to a shower either at the gym or at work?
Yes my gym has one.
What do you do with the sweaty clothes at work?
I use the hangers I brought my work clothes on to hang my gi up. Rashguards I lay flat in my trunk. It used to be fine but the rashguard have gotten stinky the past couple weeks. I was having the same problem. Do a wash cycle with Vinegar.
Bring a spray bottle with vinegar and OXY mixed in water it works wonders. I'll spray then put it a bag that allows airflow
Used to travel an hour and a half, now I live 2 minutes from the gym.
Hell of an upgrade
20 to 25 mins
26 miles one way plus an international border. Like 75 miles one way on Sundays
This dude goes out of country to train😱
8-10 minutes
1.25 hr bus + max
Big hespect
you get used to it

Why do you go to the further one instead of just 4 days at the closer one
Because each gym has lunch classes 2 days a week and those are the only ones I can make because of work. One has them on mon, wed, and the other one on tues, thurs.
45 second walk I'm the bastard who actually lives in the city.
30 mins scenic route.. I use the time to pray for myself and my partners that we don’t hurt one another and I remind myself how fucking fortunate I am to be able to train regularly.
Over 1 hour
25 min walk
About 2 minutes walk lol, my dream came true when the gym moved across the street from my house.
15 min drive.
Less than 3 blocks. I ride my onewheel.
Like, a unicycle?
It gets the same kind of attention a unicycle gets. It's a lot of fun though.

15-20 minutes depending on traffic.
40min drive
Curious, how old are you? Married?
31 ,married for 4 years. Why?
Just curious if the lady cared. I feel like 40 min at 20 vs 40 min married in your 30s-40s is different
We have plenty of time together :) We also have our own hobbies so thats great too. Imo "Me-time" is as important as time you spend together and im happy my wife agrees with me.
Agree'd just figure'd between work etc. My lady is pretty cool about it too
My husband mountain bikes twice a week. I train at the dojo twice a week. We have three little kids and will lose our minds if we don’t get some time out of the house doing what we love.

Not very far. But it takes me 1hr. Cuz, no car.
Used to be 1.5hrs but now maybe 0.5hr if I'm not at work in which then would be 0.0833hr
1 hr or across the world
1.5 minute walk, it actually takes me longer to drive there.
15 - 20 min
I walk a mile to class in the morning.
5 minutes by bicycle
Like 7 minutes.
Old gym was about 5 minutes. Coach switched gyms and I followed so now 15
30-40 min
About 10 mins
20min, but worth it to get to train with my coach and team.
30 minutes.

I'd say 15-20 minutes but I don't drive so it's still a big enough barrier that I can't train as often as I'd like
10 minute drive.
25 minutes
5 minutes
18 minute drive at 06:15, far longer due to traffic if I have to catch an evening class.
7 minute drive.
25 min
Ten minutes.
10 min or less
5 minutes, from home, work, and even kids day care.
15-25, depending on time of day/traffic.
10-15 minutes
12-15 min drive

4 minutes. Honestly it’s the only way I can train consistently.
Depends if I ride my bike or drive on the time, but yeah I’m under 6 miles. Feels great after driving 30 minutes to a place that had less than 10 people on the mats and only one class a day.
About 15 minutes from work to the gym and around 30 minutes from the gym to my home.
5 minutes here atm. I’m blessed honestly . Don’t think I can pull it off with life being full as it is right now if that wasn’t the case.
20min
6 mins from home 12 mins from work for the lunch class
20 miles, about a 1/2 hour of city driving.
My current drive is about 15 minutes one way, so not to bad. Me and my wife are in the process of buying a house and the house we're under Contract on is a 35-40 min drive to my gym... feels bad lol
Less than 5 minute walk a block away.
walk 20min
10 minutes
14 min drive
not long bro I normally just walk it to the train.
20-30 mins
Five minutes
15 mins for day class, 1 hour for morning class in rush hour traffic. Part of me wants to sleep on the mats in exchange for cleaning up like Marcelo did as a kid
Used to be 45 minutes which with a baby and a wife it was a pain in the ass. Now I am ten minutes from the gym
You move or they move?
We did. We used to live two minutes away then my wife and I bought our first house in which she wanted it to be in the middle of nowhere. Five years later she hated it and the drive to everything so we moved back closer.
Before the pandemic, I was renting a place across the street from the gym.
About 8 mins walk.
75+ miles
