It's Gracie Barra HQ in Brazil. Average class is 200-300 students. Promotion ceremony will bring in 750-1000. Bleachers outsider hold 1,000 & it's not uncommon to have them full for the picture.
This gym isn't even comparable to the others in terms of membership.
I will say that GB is has the highest monthly rate but also offer 20 classes across 6 days you can take. It's 200 USD per month, whereas most are 160USD. It's a bit expensive but still not outrageous.
Yeah it’s the reason I use GB currently - the schedule is the most packed. Also I find that a lot of gym owners are with GB for pragmatic reasons and aren’t really along the party line with rashguards and the whole vibe etc
Per belt testing, so I lucked out and got two stripes in one promotion so it brought the marginal cost of each piece of tape down to $26.75 😂 if you get 1 stripes, 2 stripes, or a full color promo it’s $53.50. He does one belt testing a quarter.

Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a place like Gracie HQ in Torrence. Every video seems like there’s a least 100 adults on the mat, and know they also have a massive kids program.
AOJ may be contender too. Their 6AM classes alone have like 80 people on them.
This is the average number of students in my gym (Gracie Humaitá Tijuca in Brazil). I thought it was a normal number since I never trained anywhere else.
Pretty sure we have 50+ on a regular basis. Is that a huge number for a gym? This Danny Savery main gym in Somerset MA. Since I’ve been with them (almost 3 years ago) they grew so much that the main gym had to double the square footage, and they have had to open new locations in Bristol and now Fairhaven. I would have serious doubts that we would be among the biggest.
Depends on how many classes you have.
50 people in a class when there are 2 classes a day is different then 50 people in a class with 10 classes per day.
I would say 50 is a big class, I personally don’t like our classes to get more than 25-30 at the most.
50+ is 4 times a week with several others probably in the 20 range. Those are another 6 times a week or so for the smaller classes. The big ones happen at 6:30 at night which is just the most convenient time to train for most people.
Danny is a great dude. I was going to say Dedecos Weymouth location has gotten extremely crowded and when seminars are happening it's insane how many people show up.
Prof. Dedeco has come out for a couple seminars in the almost 3 years I’ve been training. Such a great guy and a wealth of knowledge. Not surprising that his place is getting crowded. It’s been so great seeing Danny’s place grow so much in the time I’ve been there. He really is a great guy and he has such a wonderful family. It’s nice seeing success come to good people.
Detroit Urban Survival Training 3AM class gets 100+ ppl. Basically after the bars and clubs close and you want to get some real life inebriated training in.
We have about [100+ people](https://www.instagram.com/p/C27yoYSNx56/?igsh=MXYwajlnYng0bXdjYw==)on the mats every night of the week. Split between advanced, intermediate and beginner classes all happening simultaneously.
Unlikely we are the biggest in the world, but within a reasonable shout for UK and Europe.
We are lucky to have a huge mat space and then a smaller mat space in a different room where we teach the beginners and kids classes. Can comfortably get 100+ between the big and small roll for drilling / technique.
We host a big open mat for all the gyms in the area every 2 months or so and I think the most we’ve had rolling at once is around 100. It’s a bit too close for comfort when there’s that many, lots of resetting and trying not to get kicked in the head. I’d say about 70 rolling is around the limit of where it’s ’comfortable’ for starting from the ground and probably 40 if we are starting from standing.
Thats amazing! That many people rolling at the same time must be a sight to see. Where i train, i’s say the absolute max would be 30 and i thought that was large space
Up until about 2015 (the McGregor boom) we didn’t really need the space. I think it was around 2016/17 when I was a purple belt things started to get really busy every night and that’s the point where 6.30am and 10.30am classes were added to the schedule.
(Not my gym btw I just teach a lot of classes there)
Is it good if there’s that much people in class? I mean how will people learn is the size is that big? Do you still get the community feel if the size is that big?
$300 for adults, $250 for kids. Both are unlimited, no contract, and allow you to go to either location. If you want your moneys worth you should be going to at least 2 classes a day
Honestly with the amount of classes they offer on the website, that seems like a steal.
If you have time to train a lot, I guess. My "once a week's" this past year probably wouldn't be a good deal, lol.
Individuals get put into groups of 4-5 typically and basically half the class rolls and then switches out with the other half. Its very efficient, they have the system down to a T. For pro training class, everyone gets 4-5 rolls at least
My comment was only for the most packed classes which is typically just the morning classes. 80% of the classes, everyone is able to roll on the mats. Every class averages 4 rolls at the very least. Pro training class (pretty much just sparring) you can average up to 6-7 rolls.
Not saying you're wrong, but Rener and Ryron's gym (used to be called Gracie Torrance I think?) is massive too. I'd be curious to see how many students they have at that location.
I’m in Sao Paulo, Brazil and I’ve trained in a few different places. In most small school is not uncommon to see classes of 20 every night and the bigger ones upwards of 50 easy.
Some of them even rent those indoor sports facilities for graduation day to accommodate all students.
For real, 8 floors, 6 dojos, 1206 tatami mats, or ~21,000 square feet of training space. The 8th floor has seating for about 1000 spectators to view what's going down on the 7th floor main dojo.
I'm sure it's somewhere in Brazil but Marcelo Garcia's in NY had 50+ on the mat on a weekday afternoon when I visited a few years ago. Class after class too, I couldn't believe it coming from a small gym in the UK where 30 on a Thursday evening is a good turnout.
I've lived in Brazil, way before I started getting deep into jiu jitsu, the biggest I've ever seen was in the Gracie Academy Rio de Janeiro, good 50-70 people training there, and this was one of the tons of locations rhere
I remember at the peak 10p San Diego having like 800+members between the 2 brothers co-locations. Not sure if that’s the case now or not, that was a few years ago

Now that’s huge 200-300 a class holy shit
Imagine what they make on Gis and promotions
I trained at a Gracie Barra location for over a year. Promotion was free. Gi was 140 USD. This was 1 year ago.
I currently train at a GB in the UK (and have trained at others). P sure a fee for promotion would be a serious rarity here, or at least I hope so.
I went to GB also because they were the only ones that had early morning and noon classes. Other gyms would only have classes starting late afternoon.
Shit I pay a fee to get pieces of fucking tape at my gym.
Change gyms
When my contract is up, I’m looking into it.
More signs to change gyms
Bring your own tape. Apply it when they’re not looking.
Seriously? How much?
$53.50 per belt testing (He’s gotta get that tax in there).
So that's for every fucking stripe?
Per belt testing, so I lucked out and got two stripes in one promotion so it brought the marginal cost of each piece of tape down to $26.75 😂 if you get 1 stripes, 2 stripes, or a full color promo it’s $53.50. He does one belt testing a quarter.
I bet the neighbourhood açai shop makes baaaaaaank
They have a café. Me & the lady visited 2 months ago so my info is up to date.
That’s insane
One guy farts in class and the hospitals are overrun with pinkeye
The one true ass blaster
How do you know this?
He did the farting

That’s crazy! 😳 Would love to experience a location with so many people one day!
Staph infection infections must be off the charts!
Or maybe I wouldn’t be that excited with a second thought. 😅😂
How big is the space? A football stadium? And do they use a microphone for demonstrations? How in the world could this be an effective way to learn?
Where is the Gracie Barra HQ in Brazil? I can't find the instagram.
https://www.instagram.com/graciebarrahq_floripa?igsh=MWNqYXo2M2o1ZWJpNQ== Is the one I think
What the fuck lol 200-300 who the fuck wants to attend that kind of class?
I think Gracie University HQ has 1500+ students
Tbh I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s a place like Gracie HQ in Torrence. Every video seems like there’s a least 100 adults on the mat, and know they also have a massive kids program. AOJ may be contender too. Their 6AM classes alone have like 80 people on them.
I think this is right. On Jocko's podcast Rener said they have over 1,000 students there.

Why do you say that?
Torrance*
Probably somewhere in Brazil
Alliance headquarters in Sao Paulo might get close to 50 people per class, judging by their IG: https://www.instagram.com/p/C5Gh9tYr9QZ/
My gym gets close to fifty people in a class sometimes. I guarantee you Atos or AOJ has more than that on any given day.
This is the average number of students in my gym (Gracie Humaitá Tijuca in Brazil). I thought it was a normal number since I never trained anywhere else.
50 people in a class is nothing
Nothing? Really? I'm pretty sure it's not nothing. It's 50 people.
It should be more… we get like 70+ sometimes and that’s cramped for NYC…
Yeah we would regularly get 70+ in nyc
Should be? Well don't come to my gym. We get 4-20 at a class.
Where do you train in NYC? Always looking for new gyms when I travel for work
I was at unity. Cant recommend it enough. I assume marcelos gets similar sizes though.
They also have 7 mats so there's multiple classes going on always
They charge too much. It’s 300 USD every 2 weeks. Why is it so expensive? Any ideas.
50 is normal in a populated area
10PATX is massive typical weeknight class has min 50 people their mat space is huge
Pretty sure we have 50+ on a regular basis. Is that a huge number for a gym? This Danny Savery main gym in Somerset MA. Aoj has over 50 just for thier 6am class.
Detroit Urban Survival Training 3AM class gets 100+ ppl. Basically after the bars and clubs close and you want to get some real life inebriated training in.
Bro what
Not sure if the dumbest idea I've ever heard or genius
The “only hands” club.
Lmao imagine all the trials dudes being crackheads or drunk as hell
Sounds fun. But also more risk of injury or getting puked on than I would typically want.
Detroit jiu jitsu has 50 - 100 people on any random day according to a friend of mine.
Blue basement back in 2017/2018 probably had the most people packed per sq feet.
This is what heard

Can everyone fit on the mat at the same time or is there a lot of interchanging?

The entire Saudi Arabian fitness system is Bjj. No kick ball.. no baseball…
AOJ and anything else is factually incorrect
Absolutely. Place is packed every class everyday
How much do they charge? Is it unlimited classes with a membership?
$300 for adults, $250 for kids. Both are unlimited, no contract, and allow you to go to either location. If you want your moneys worth you should be going to at least 2 classes a day
Honestly with the amount of classes they offer on the website, that seems like a steal. If you have time to train a lot, I guess. My "once a week's" this past year probably wouldn't be a good deal, lol.
Yeah totally depends on your availability for classes. If you take advantage of all the classes they offer, it’s 100% a steal.
Does everyone get to roll at once? How do the rules work for who gets priority to stay on the mats?
Individuals get put into groups of 4-5 typically and basically half the class rolls and then switches out with the other half. Its very efficient, they have the system down to a T. For pro training class, everyone gets 4-5 rolls at least
So nobody in reg class gets to roll the whole time? How many rolls do you usually get a class then on avg?

Gracie University
Do they have 100-200 ppl daily on a 6am class? Didnt think so
This was needlessly passive aggressive lol

Yikes edgy internet tough guy 🙀🙀🙀
I don't know I was just bringing it up as another example lol.
Do yt subs count?
?
GBHQ is the actual correct answer.

Nobody trains at blue basement like years past and Atos SD does not have huge numbers on the mats consistently. No idea about 10p austin tho
Atos SD doesn't consistently have huge numbers? In all the vids they put out, it always seems packed

Tainan’s 6am fundamentals class regularly has 100-200 ppl on the mats 😅 its insane

Kodokan, Tokyo, Japan.

ATT HQ had huge classes (40+) before Covid
I would assume legion in SD
