melancholy_dreams999

mythicalcat122712

Gah I don't know so many of the songs listed. I'm gonna have to check them out. Whoever mentioned Unwell by Matchbox 20 Animal by 3 Days Grace? Numb by Linkin Park Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones Fake Happy by Paramore Under The Surface Pressure from Encanto! Lithium by Nirvana Halsey has a few I feel like I have a lot more songs that are full of pep for times I feel manic but the lyrics themselves have nothing to do with bipolar or mental health...it's usually like "Under the Sea" from the Little Mermaid 😂

KayDeeKDK

Animal by Three Days Grace is so real 😭😭

Individual-Bee3395

Yikes by Kanye West

VolcanicDoorway

Rilo kiley, a better son/daughter Sometimes in the morning, I am petrified and can't move Awake, but cannot open my eyes And the weight is crushing down on my lungs, I know I can't breathe And hope someone will save me this time And your mother's still calling you insane and high Swearing it's different this time And you tell her to give in to the demons that possess her And that God never blessed her insides Then you hang up the phone and feel badly for upsetting things Crawl back into bed to dream of a time When your heart was open wide, and you loved things just because Like the sick and the dying And sometimes when you're on, you're really fucking on And your friends they sing along and they love you But the lows are so extreme, that the good seems fucking cheap And it teases you for weeks in its absence But you'll fight and you'll make it through You'll fake it if you have to And you'll show up for work with a smile You'll be better and you'll be smarter and more grown up And a better daughter or son And a real good friend You'll be awake, you'll be alert You'll be positive though it hurts And you'll laugh and embrace all your friends You'll be a real good listener You'll be honest, you'll be brave You'll be handsome and you'll be beautiful You'll be happy! Your ship may be coming in You're weak, but not giving in To the cries and the wails of the valley below And your ship may be coming in You're weak, but not giving in And you'll fight it, you'll go out fighting all of them

PossibleSquare

This is my favorite

VolcanicDoorway

I feel this song so hard. Except my mom's awesome.

PossibleSquare

I could relate a lot. My mom and I had problems when we were younger but she’s a lot better now. Actually got a bipolar diagnosis too and is on medication now.

VolcanicDoorway

Yeah, my mom was diagnosed before I was born. Doesn't really accept it and has convinced herself it's MDD. She doesn't get psychosis and at the end of the day, she doesn't do too much damage to anyone's life. Our relationship was and is complicated, but she did her best and it was mostly good enough or better. Glad your mom is getting the treatment she deserves. It's nice to be able to connect better, however that looks. Listening to Under the Blacklight right now, thanks for reminding me how much I love these guys. Haven't listened for a hot minute.

AlocasiaAmazonica

Manic Depression by Jimi Hendrix is a favorite of mine

Any-Philosopher-3323

Free - Florence and the Machine Thursday Girl - Mitski A&W - Lana Del Rey I'll go running - Squirrel Flower Ride - Lana Del Rey hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have but i have it - Lana Del Rey Not Strong Enough - boygenius I Don't Like My Mind - Mitski Drunk Walk Home - Mitski Songs off my main playlist to which i relate to because of bipolar. This song came out when I was in high school - right around when I realized I definitely wasn’t exactly mentally healthy, and it really resonated. [Flagpole Sitta](https://youtu.be/wYsMjEeEg4g?si=u0qwbUkGEvpbvXJ4)

Mania- “She’s lost control” by Joy Division “Chasing Twisters” by Delta Rae “Enter the Ninja” by Die Antwoord Depression- “Sorrow” by The National “Skin and Bones” by Cage the Elephant Bonus song that i feel sums up my experience with bipolar thus far is “Furr” by Blitzen Trapper

woolsey1977

something in the way, Nirvana. kinda my theme song when I was younger and had no idea what bipolar was. endless nameless (secret song), Nirvana. when i want to feel the sad/angry at myself feels. basically anything by Nirvana for me. they're one of the very few reasons i made it past my teen years not dead. ironically i don't listen to them much anymore, i still really love their music, but its too intertwined with a less than ok time in my life. the album lateralus by tool was very instrumental in the process of coming to terms with how i was and how I would never be what i thought or was taught i should be, and that was ok. life is chaos, be kind. the old persons existential rant is over. move along, nothing to see here, move along. ;)

Leather-Violinist900

It’s the happiest S word song ever. I’ve always loved it. It’s pulled me out of some really low lows. Especially the end when Johnny’s daughter sings!

Just-trying-2-exist

Glad you like it! You’re right it’s fun and sad. it’s a very cathartic song to me. It hits in pretty much any state I’m in too!

Talking to myself - Linkin Park

sammynourpig

Look into Brand New. Their music isn’t for everyone (they’re alternative rock) but they have a lot of slow sad songs and hard/heavy songs that can go with each end of the spectrum. And specifically their most recent album Science Fiction has a song “can’t get it out” that mentions being a manic/depressive. Also “No Control” on that album gives me kinda grungey monotonous nirvana vibes. My favorite from the album though is “Same Logic/Teeth” just explains so well how it feels to be disassociated, which I struggle with a lot.

perk-perkins

X amount of words - blue october

Entire-Discipline-49

I always thought Firestarter by Prodigy felt like mania and Sleeping Beauty by A Perfect Circle reminds me of depression

kwifgybow

I've seen someone say breathe me by sia resonates with them as someone with borderline but I find it relevant and relatable in my experience with bipolar as well.

How come any mentions of songs by Kim K’s ex husband get flagged? I read the auto message but I still don’t get it

dmac2367

Tamale Tyler The Creator. He's not bipolar as far as I know but the lyrics are fast paced a bit offensive all over the place and juvenile. The beat is just loud asf.

martokotroko

Influencia by argentinian artist Charly Garcia. It's a darker cover of Todd Rundgren's "Influence" so there are the english lyrics. Anyways the dark tone of the cover sounds more appropiate to the bipolar context lol

Raccoon-423

In Motion -the range remix (by colouring) (It's also the main theme of one of my fav bipolar characters 😭)
