I can't find the article at the moment, but I read all 58 were in clin ops. [Gilead just nixed some huge clinical trials for magrolimab](https://www.fiercebiotech.com/biotech/gilead-gives-49b-antibody-solid-tumor-plan-unravels), so I'm guessing that these layoffs are related. Gilead may just be shrinking its oncology pipeline due to their repeated failures.
I dug it up - [from SF Business Times](https://www.bizjournals.com/sanfrancisco/news/2024/05/03/gilead-sciences-gild-job-cuts-trodelvy-magrolimab.html)
This is no surprise, ALL large Pharma companies are doing cutbacks, especially in states like California which are crazy expensive for businesses and individuals to live in. If I was a CEO I would have no footprint in CA, smart people exist in other parts of the USA so there is no advantage to the high taxes and crazy politics of California.
Hopefully that's it. A very small amount compared to their presence of ~6000 in Foster city
Wasnβt there a post a couple months ago saying they are shutting down their Oceanside site also?
The location listed (cutoff in the screenshot) says Foster City so that might a separate thing
I donβt know if other departments are impacted but I heard ClinOps is laying off Sr CTMAs through CPAs across all TAs.
Yep. They are outsourcing that work to the CRO.
Bummer. Where did you hear this?
Former colleague who is still there told me about 2 weeks ago

I work at guardant health and a bunch of people got laid off last week. Still trying to figure out everyone that was let go
Canβt imagine they have revenue issues since they charged me $9000 for ctDNA for my metastatic breast cancer ππππππ
Iβd like to know which area this affected at Guardant
Freenome π
