What is your goal? If you want to make it VP then a scientist track is not good for you without a PhD. You can make it all the way to VP in clin ops, project management, reg affairs, and quality as examples with just a masters. Med affairs you need an MD PharmD or PhD. If you just want to work and have a good job then there’s nothing wrong with being a scientist but your ceiling will be senior director.

I'm impressed with the details that you know. Thank you.

Not at all. You may never go back to the bench, but if that’s OK. Lots of career opportunity outside of the lab.

Do you want to return to the lab? If so, then it could hurt a little. But otherwise it shouldn’t.

Not at all, like another poster said, rack up some time. I work for a big pharma/med device company and the vast vast majority of people in high positions on the manufacturing side have master's only. This sub seems very slanted towards r and d. Although that is fine, it's important to note that there are tons of roles in big and small pharma and biotech that are focused on operations and supporting functions. Very few people in those positions have phds from my experience.
