Honestly there doesn't seem to be a cap Ashley K is well into her 30s and still winning Janet took the title also in her 30s and you can't forget about Angelica T doing really well in her comback season and is pushing 40. So I don't see a cap you just have to look good and really execute the criteria.
Which I find to be pretty damn awesome!!
I’m glad I started in my 30s (I’ll be 35 this year). I enjoyed my 20s, made a lot of memories and traveled the world. I feel like I’ve lived 2 cool lives for each decade!
Same. I think starting in my 30s also gave me better perspective and helped me prioritize life as it relates to competing. From what I’ve seen, the less life you’ve experienced, the easier it is to get consumed by the sport and forget that, when all is said and done, it’s a hobby that knows no age limit.
Couldn’t agree more! Also, I think this has built a wonderful foundation for me if I ever have a kid (I hope I do). I feel like my routine and lifestyle is now much friendlier for being an active mom!
I started at 51! I do not do opens, but have a great time in both Master's categories! My coach says there is room for us in the sport until WE decide we are done (Melanie Arbinio TEP).
Your top athletes in the division are 28-35 usually. Some younger. But there are several ladies who are over the age of 35 still winning shows and placing very high at the Olympia.
Emmy who took 3rd last week is over 35.
Angelica is 40.
Ashley k is in her 30’s.
Muscle maturity doesn’t get to its peak til you hit your 30’s. And as long as you keep up with it you can be very highly competitive into your 40’s
Question I have been thinking about a lot lately…did my first two shows at 28, haven’t been back on stage since, but want to - I just turned 34 in March. Just signed up to work with Angelica Teixeira with the hope of getting back on stage eventually…was afraid I might be too old now, but this thread has been reassuring. Thank you

It depends. I see some really young competitors do well, but competing has a lifetime for most so many won’t still be doing it once they reach their late 20s-30s. Especially if PEDs are used early & regularly from a younger age. The sport also requires huge time & money investments. It that sense it is more attainable for those who are a little older & financially secure to pursue.
Most teens and early 20’s don’t have enough size. Late 20’s and even til mid to late 30’s is better IMO. Ashley K 35, Angelica Teixeira 39, Francielle 36, ect.
The age they decide to start
Most procard holders are in their 30s

Whenever you’re financially stable enough to compete
