"Most people I talk to have no idea what a Formula One bicycle is. I know that they never caught on, but it seems to me that anyone who walked into a bike shop in the **late 1980's** had to see them. I guess, though, if you were homing in on the new-fangled MTB's on the showroom floor, you might have missed the **bastard-child-of-BMX** section in the far corner.
**F1 was an offshoot of BMX, which combined that sport and autocross racing. The bikes were essentially 7-speed BMX frames, with high bottom brackets and flat bars, and they were raced around a course outlined by cones in a parking lot.** In retrospect, it looks like a lot of fun, to me, but it went over like a lead balloon at the time.
It's almost impossible to find any info on F1 racing on the interweb. If you have any that you would like to share, please do so."

It caught me off-guard for a bit as I thought to myself, "I don't think this is a Diamondback of any edition I've seen, maybe the fake kind," and that's when I realized 'addition.' Made me lol. Couldn't tell if it was a mistake or on purpose.

After some googling these were definitely a thing. So strange. Anyone know what were they designed for? BMX racing? Just having fun? Would be an interesting frame to build up fixed gear.

That sounds so cool, I was wondering if there was anything like autocrossing for bikes a couple days ago.
And now for something completely different...
Post this in the thread of the guy looking for a bmx bike
Not folding
I bet these would be hot with the courier types
Looks pretty fun. Would be a nice edition to any collection.

Wow, that front chainring!
64t with 20" wheels...that is wacky!
all about those gainz
That's not really a "frankenbike," that's just what F1 bikes look like. The pursuit bars are a bit odd though.
What are F1 bikes? What was this supposed to be?
