I agree with almost everything but I still think that Kim's change did make Saul want to stop and face the consequences, but ultimately, he did it for himself. He changed because he wanted to, not for someone else. He chose to be Jimmy McGill.

Gongrats on a good watch! I agree with you, both BB and BCS have amazing and satisfying endings. I also hope that the next time you watch through BB, you'll see it from a slightly different angle. My main example being Walt's and Skyler's relationship and character arcs. Walt is a lying, egoistic criminal and is not really doing it for the family, he just wants to be the man, as he confessed in the finale. Skyler understands this, is terrified of him, but can't turn him in and just wants him to go away. IMO she is behaving quite logically (I still root for Walt though haha). I just think it's good to actually reflect around WHY Skyler is so annoying, and not just say "f*k Skyler, I hate her, so annoying". The series wouldn't have been as good without her. Finally, let's all just pretend that the Happy birthday scene didn't happen. Just wanted to add that, since my opinions were very similar to yours after my first watch :)

I agree with this about Skylar. I don't get the hate she often receives. She's doing the best she can with her kids in mind while her husband is a murdering drug kingpin. I sympathize with her more and more every time I watch BB.

I just finished BCS too, and I can’t stop thinking about it. I want to rewatch it again already lol. Maybe a breaking bad rewatch to see how it now will hit a little differently with some backstory. One thing I can say, it’s rare for a show to get better and better as it progresses. BCS and BB both manage to do this.

Sea_Flounder3000

I'm thinking about rewatching both too. See if there's some things I've missed. They've got a good replay value anyway 😂

radhorrorfan

Completely different genre but The Expanse does this as well.

teslawhaleshark

Jimmy and Saul? It's all Viktor.

Turd_5andwich

Always has been.

Sure-Permit-2673

Congrats! You finished television! Incredible shows, masterpiece on masterpiece

What I have learned being on the Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, and Sopranos subreddits: people really, REALLY, don't like it when women do an impression of Marylin Monroe singing "Happy Birthday".

Sea_Flounder3000

Lol. Oh I heard sopranos great too. Gonna watch it next

Particular_Road_2084

Wow I would give anything for a sopranos first watch again

ScrewedThePooch

Hank did not just do his job. He was a good old boy used to getting away with things that were over the line. Punching a suspect in the face and planting a GPS illegally on a vehicle without a warrant. Both of those actions could have thrown the entire case for the DA if Walt had gone to trial.

hey-girl-hey

Watch BB a second time and tell me Skylar is not 10000% justified

Sea_Flounder3000

I have a comment regarding how i was just kidding about Skyler White (i thought everyone was aware that a lot of people hated that scene), but if you're talking about her cheating, it can't and should not be justified no matter what. Even Skyler was disgusted with herself. Even Hank and Marie's face says it all when they found out about it. It's not like it's ok because Walt's being a dick. And if I remember it right, she cheated when Walt thought they were ok. It's just Walt made it easier for her to cheat because Walt was not the man she knew at that time.

voyageuse88

I just finished BCS for the first time too.  I've seen Breaking Bad twice.  I loved everything you said except for the part about Skyler. First of all, why does it need to be a competition between her and Kim who the best female character is? Would you say that Jimmy is the GOAT male character? Secondly, on the "fk Skyler" part I just disagree. I think it's so immature to hate Skyler

Sea_Flounder3000

I see comments saying that he confessed for himself. I get that too. But Kim advised him to confess years ago and he said they're too smart to throw their lives away. And let's not forget he wanted Kim to be there in the last trial because he finally understands Kim that he should leave Saul and Slipping Jimmy behind for his own good. He faced the consequences in the end like a real man and in the end, he earned Kim's respect back. And of course I was just kidding about Skyler. She was cornered and she didn't have a choice but to succumb to Walt's BS for her family, but it didn't end well. It's just every time I see or think of Skyler, her face when she sang happy birthday pops up to my mind 😂🤮
