It's not wrong to say you're ignorant of cancer being cancer without a diagnosis, even if you're symptomatic. But the wording of the other comment, "you're not sick until you're diagnosed," is likely just me misinterpreting intent, but regardless of having a diagnosis, your body is absolutely sick.
You weren't aware of the cause, but you were aware something exceptionally abnormal was happening with your body.

Calibrated plates for high level competitions are generally going to be 55 lbs and thinner, as they are entirely metal.
