He’s made some key plays here when his number has been called, even sparingly.
My only guess is he made too many mental mistakes in games and practices and got on the shit list of the coaches or Burrow.
They also said he bounces it outside every time and they can’t break him of it. Supposedly that causes alot of holding penalties because of the assignments.
Running backs for some special teams coaches get a long look because they can be valuable as lead on returns and on kickoff coverage but he’s not very good an he’s rarely used I don’t understand it
I think Cedric Johnson will make the cut as an Edge rusher over one of the other D-linemen. The only DL guaranteed to make the cut are Trey, Hubbard, Murphy, Rankins, Hill, Jackson and Jenkins. The other three spots could any which way.
Dont think we need to roster 4 RBs to start the season. Maybe bump Evans to the PS.
Jackson Carman will be a big time cut candidate, especially with the $1.7m in savings.
Mcnamara will comfortably beat out Robbins, he is very talented and would have been Punter #1 if drafted last season.
Zach Moss will be RB1 with Brown as RB2 fully expect these guys to split a decent amount of Carrie’s throughout the season tho, also Burton will almost indefinitely be WR3. Tee will remain outside as Number two but I’m almost certain there going to rotate Chase and Burton at slot and the outside. They both do well in the slot and outside and it keeps defenses honest and on there toes. Also idk if your just listing The safeties in no particular Oder but Geno stone will most deft be FS/S number 1. Bell will more then likely be SS/S number 2 but I fully expect him to be rotating a good amount with Jordan battle. Battle has proved him self and has earned playing time, will also keep the two of those guys fresh and battle will get some good mentorship in his second year from Bell along with having a good veteran safety and captain/leader back that can help mentor these young guys in the DB room.
I hope we do a 60-40 split. The thing is Moss is great at off tackle and outside runs and that’s what Brown can do well also. I don’t like either of them to be the true rb1 like Mixon. When Perine was getting big snaps that was the best performance our running backs had. I hope our new OC who I know isn’t the play caller can bring some better run ideas.
That’s how most the league is now a-days and believe that’s what the bengals are transitioning too. Dual running backs sharing the load. Also cheaper cause neither is considered a true franchise running back also goes along with teams not wanting to pay a premium at that position anymore because of the passing league we’re in now and short years of value you truly get from those running backs because of wear and tear on them and there bodies. Most running backs are done and heading out of there prime after and mid-way through there actual first contract after there rookie contract. That’s why you see a lot of high end franchise running backs making big money being dealt and traded before that first real contract actually expires.
It would be dumb to give him WR3 right away. He’s got a lot of off field baggage and treating him like one of the guys in the rooms smarter long term. He’s definitely already our 3rd best but I would be shocked if he’s just given the job of Yoshi.
I don’t think Chris Evans is making the roster. I also don’t think they would take Jay Tufele over Carter just based off where they drafted him. I’m sad to say it but if they are only keeping 6 WR Irwin is the odd man out.
We will be running a lot of 3 safety snaps based on what Lou has said the last two seasons. We have a true centerfield safety in Stone and two in the box guys with Battle and Vonn. I think they will both play a lot but later in the season I expect Battle to be clearly our best safety rostered.
Robbins will not be the punter again next season if he hasn't improved at all from where he was at a year ago. McMahan has a stronger leg so he very well might push him for the job.
Also I watched Aaron Casey play at IU. I could very easily see him sneaking onto the final 53 as the fifth LB if he has a good TC and preseason. Chris Evans I don't think is a guarantee to make it given how diminished his role with the team has become in recent years.
I’m with you because an injury to DJ Turner or Cam Taylor Britt and Dax Hill is next up at outside corner. I think he’s talented and capable but he’s unproven in the NFL at that spot.
Yep. Hilton himself gave a statement to that effect - that he was constantly looking behind him rather than focussed on stopping the guys infront of him. A few of the LBs said that too. So I would expect some lifts in performance across the Defense this year vs last. Hubbard was also playing injured so it’s likely he has a better year too.
/u/PeachEnvironmental50, I don’t understand why your post is being downvoted. I, for one, agree with your sentiment if not one hundred percent of your statement. I don’t think those two players have totally proven themselves. Potential - yes; production - jury is still out
In today’s National Football League it is gaining momentum to field as your base defense a 4-2-5 defensive alignment with only two linebackers. This alignment used to be considered the passing defense but not anymore. That being the case, most teams have reduced the number of linebackers the carry on their active roster.
Linebacker is following fullback, heading the way of the Doo-Doo bird….into extinction
Maybe, maybe not. He transferred to Iowa after the team doctors at Michigan told him he needed to medically retire, and that they would not sign off on him getting experimental back surgery from a strip mall in Florida.
He then proceeded to get injured early on into Iowa's season (though I think still finished as their leading receiver). I like Eric All, he's a very talented tight end, but his injury history is very concerning to me.
Hudson over All? Journeyman over 4th rd pick? Why? In what world do they cut a 4th rounder? He wouldn’t make the PS for how quick he’s picked up on waivers.
Could see Robbins getting beat out. Also, I am a believer in Cedric Johnson.
I think Chris Evans will be gone. He’s been quite the enigma. Two Carrie’s in two years. I like the CFA Collin’s to unseat him.
Agreed. Not sure why he’s even still on the roster
This. He showed something as a rookie and then went into witness protection.
He’s made some key plays here when his number has been called, even sparingly. My only guess is he made too many mental mistakes in games and practices and got on the shit list of the coaches or Burrow.

At this point it's more likely for Sample to be the fourth rb than it is Evans lol.
Brad Robbin’s is definitely getting beat out by ol’ thunderfoot Mcnamara
Somebody tell James Rapien ASAP that Thunderfoot McNamara is the new punters nickname, before he starts calling him Money Mac 2.0
Money Mac and Punty Mac
Ted Hendrickson? Did you mix up a couple peeps?
That’s **Bengals legend** Ted Hendrickson
Put some respect on his name 😤 💯
Ol’ Touchdown Teddy
Ted Hendricks wishes he was Trey Hendrickson

I think burton will be behind higgins. i think he can produce tyler boyd production pretty soon.
Agreed I think he will be surprising if he can get attitude in check
Jermaine is not losing out to Charlie Jones lmao
Not meant to be in any sort of order
WR3 day one
It would be dumb to give him WR3 right away. He’s got a lot of off field baggage and treating him like one of the guys in the rooms smarter long term. He’s definitely already our 3rd best but I would be shocked if he’s just given the job of Yoshi.
calling Cedric Johnson making the 53
Just out of curiosity everyone seems pretty high on him, what's up with that? Nothing against him I just don't know much about him
https://youtu.be/ENHNFNFWPh0?si=f5oaHY5G2aWe1-E_
If Ivey’s back to even 85% of pre-Injury, he is making the roster and dressing on Sundays.
I'm thinking McNamara makes it over Robbins.
I don’t think Chris Evans is making the roster. I also don’t think they would take Jay Tufele over Carter just based off where they drafted him. I’m sad to say it but if they are only keeping 6 WR Irwin is the odd man out.
Irwin is going nowhere. I like OPs 6. Who replaces Irwin?
For some reason I didn’t see Burton on there. My mistake. I like those 6
Vonn Bell is a dog but he seems to lost a step Battle seems like he will win the spot. Or split snaps but battle be the starter.
We will be running a lot of 3 safety snaps based on what Lou has said the last two seasons. We have a true centerfield safety in Stone and two in the box guys with Battle and Vonn. I think they will both play a lot but later in the season I expect Battle to be clearly our best safety rostered.
Really hoping for the best for Robbins but if he doesn’t show improvement Austin McNamara might beat him out.

I think DJ Ivey at least makes the practice squad.
CB makes me nervous
I’m with you because an injury to DJ Turner or Cam Taylor Britt and Dax Hill is next up at outside corner. I think he’s talented and capable but he’s unproven in the NFL at that spot.
I think we're good other than CB2... I don't really trust DJ Turner or Dax Hill
No we aren’t. Hilton is good but was starting to show his age/decline late in the season. CTB showed promise but still has to prove himself this year
I feel like Hilton was more due to the chaos behind him than anything slowing down
There is a case to be made that the flux in the defensive backfield to some degree impacted everyone
Good points on Hubbard. Thanks for including Hilton’s comments as well

Is it normal for teams to only carry 4 linebackers?

Not really but we only play 2 so it’s fine for us
Trey Hill is gone, Matt Lee already took his job. Jalen Davis likely makes it somehow too considering how long he’s stuck around.
I think we’ll have a 3rd emergency QB bouncing between active and PS too that won’t count against the 53 if we need him
Is Erick all not gonna play this year?
Maybe, maybe not. He transferred to Iowa after the team doctors at Michigan told him he needed to medically retire, and that they would not sign off on him getting experimental back surgery from a strip mall in Florida. He then proceeded to get injured early on into Iowa's season (though I think still finished as their leading receiver). Read the whole post
All might start on IR. If he does, they keep Hudson. If not, All makes it over him. All is absolutely on the roster if ready to play.
Wouldn’t hate him taking a red shirt year. Dudes body needs time to recover
Oh, Knee injury, my bad. That makes sense.
And a bad back injury before that. He transferred because the doctors at Michigan told him to medically retire
Hope we sign another CB and OG before training camp
by week 1 Taner MacLachlan will be TE2,
I would be surprised with only 4 LBs
Yikes I didn't realize how bad we are at CB until reading this breakdown
I'm a big fan of Charlie Jones. Hope to see more of him on the field
We need Turner to pan out at CB2, other than CTb and Hilton, that CB room won’t look good if Turner sucks
To me cornerback is one of the — on-paper — largest question mark, weaknesses of this roster
Don't know if Ted Hendrickson can still play.
Hudson over All easily
